Nice villa on the beach, nice pool.
Construction in process right now raise the villa, kept having to ask housekeeping for things that should have been automatically provided or done, not a great job cleaning the room, restaurant on the water charged 10% “dock” fee, 15% resort fee on top of the 12.5% VAT. Food was good but expensive and then another 37% on top of the meal! Ridiculous! No “vibe” at the resort. Not friendly, no activities - actually boring compared to other resorts we visited.
The room was spacious and the balcony was nice. The pool was nice, although not in great condition (tiles missing etc).
The over water restaurant was beautiful.
The restaurant staff and some of the front desk staff were nice.
The location is very far from anything and they charge you for every extra or shuttle to town and the onsite restaurant was very expensive with no nearby alternatives. Generally the hotel was in poor condition with parts under construction. Broken tiles in the room, shower didn’t work well, towels didn’t get replaced or refreshed so we ended up with only one towel by the end of our stay, had to call for extra toilet paper twice because we were only given one roll, the water refill stations were always empty, the gym door was falling off, some front desk staff were rude and unfriendly (the manager I think). The initial booking process was also very stressful due to very poor customer service.
Beautiful facility located right on the beach!! We upgraded to a suite facing the ocean.
The staff wasn’t as customer service oriented as other places where we’ve stayed. For example, they didn’t send us a message on WhatsApp asking if we needed anything, and the one day we ate breakfast there, the service was very slow. Also, it’s a 30 minute drive from downtown Placencia. Additionally, prices at the resort were in U.S. dollars, whereas all the other places we visited were in Belize dollars.
Nice beach and pool area and dining restaurant
Prices too high, facilities in room poor, little possibilities for breakfast, charge you extra without telling you beforehand for special coffee, not all mentioned amenities in place , close down restaurant for private event unannpunced
The best of both worlds!
This property is stunning, and it really offered the best of both worlds. We were able to experience resort-style amenities and service, while enjoying the space of an AirBnB. Our suite was huge and gave us ample room to enjoy ourselves. It was nice to be able to cook some meals in the suite, although they could definitely stand to upgrade their kitchenware.
The pool is huge, and we really enjoyed the swim-up bar. The restaurant sits right on the water, and we were really impressed with the food there. The service is top-notch from the bar to the housekeeping staff.
*A note about the location: Placencia is a lot bigger than I realized. This property is in an area that is mostly just resorts and a handful of restaurants. A little further South is Maya Beach, which is quite nice. If you want to actually visit Placencia Village, it's a good 20-30 minute drive. So this is the perfect location for a relaxing, peaceful getaway. But if you want to be in the heart of Placencia, go further South.
The food and service at the restaurant on the water were excellent! Stefanie went out of her way to do extra service for us.
Can't wait to see what the Placencia will be like once all of the construction/renovation is completed!
Its location.
Restaurant prices are definitely not affordable for locals. Therefore, we had to source dinner and breakfast elsewhere. Actually thought it was intentional to discourage locals. If so it definitely works.
Placenta Resort was advertised as a Hyatt hotel but this definitely was not it. We entered the resort and saw that a massive construction renovation project was being undertaken, which resulted in a lot of noise both during the day and at night. The wi fi was very poor and not secure which we had to keep asking staff to fix. They said that someone would fix it, but no one ever did.
The rooms were clean and well kept, and staff was nice and helpful, but management was poorly run. The hotel was misrepresented as a Hyatt yet basic amenities such as the shower, WiFi, and “complimentary shuttle” and “laundry” cost an arm and a leg. The shuttle cost $150, and the hotel was $20 a load.
We will not be coming back and hope we can get a partial refund.
Truly stellar pool with three areas of different depths. This allowed children to play more freely while parents enjoyed the pool. Only complaint was limited food options with highly variable quality.
Note this area of Placencia has lots of sea grass and sargassum that washes up on the beaches daily. So depending on your level of comfort swimming in and around it, you may not be able to use the ocean. When it decays it smells heavily of sulfur.
The pool service was excellent but the food and activities offered were limited
The property is under construction so a lot of the food amenities are limited but the villas are beautifully newly renovated and the staff is very nice. Best to rent a car so that you can explore better food options off property during the day.
Rooms need improvement to provide basic services
The property was dirty the bathroom had broken door, it was dirty and there was no hot water. We didnt even have water in the room to drink! When we ordered food the menu was so limited they didnt even have chicken wings. We had to end our stay early because of the inconvenience and how direty it was.
We received very good service, and the rooms and pool were excellent. The only drawback was that the main restaurant was being removed and eventually replaced, so the on-site dining was limited. However, we ended up renting a golf cart and found terrific dining.
They have bedbugs
Great pool, good staff, clean. Beautiful beach. Toilets hardly flush though with the low flow, similar to Tulum.
The physical resort was phenomenal. The two reasons I did not give it a five star were 1) that the water pressure in the showers were so low. I never felt clean and could not wash my hair properly, and 2) the hotel restaurant was more expensive than the local restaurants. The days we didn't prepare food in our kitchen, we had to leave the resort. If the prices had been comparable, we would have eaten at the resort more often. The food was delicious, just astronomically expensive. Everything else about the resort was amazing and the staff were so incredibly nice.
