In a great location
Pros:

I booked this hotel for my last nights stay in Amsterdam because I wanted to be close to this area which is one of my favourite parts of the city. The location is fantastic and its not far to walk from Centraal Station. The man that checked me in was very friendly and helpful and I was able to leave my bag there which he later took up to the room for me. They give you a voucher for coffee and a pastry from the coffee shop next door, both of which were lovely. The room was clean and the shower was powerful. The bed is very big.

Cons:

For the first part of my trip I stayed in a much more modern hotel so this was a bit of a change in comparison. Although the room was clean it felt a bit....scruffy and a bit basic, just a bed in a room no TV. There was a also a bit of a funky smell in the bathroom sometimes. I travel solo and my rules are I have to feel safe and comfortable. There only being guests in the building throughout the night and a member of staff not being easily contactable if there was an emergency did make me feel a but uneasy. Unfortunately it rained so my plan of wandering around that evening went out the window but the room didn't feel like a cosy, comfortable place to relax instead. I got woken up in the early hours by someone shouting but not sure if that was outside (probably was) of it it was inside the hotel. Maybe I was in a more basic room or it just comes down to personal preference. I really wanted to love this hotel :(

Great stay at Hotel Caliso. Would recommend if traveling solo but be prepared for noisy nights.
Pros:

Location was great, room was comfortable, the self service was efficient and the coffee/croissant vouchers were brilliant!

Cons:

Noisy at night given the location.

Heel erg vriendelijk personeel. Lekker kopje koffie aan de overkant en de kamer was heel netjes. Erg lagen oordopjes tegen het lawaai buiten wat niet te voorkomen is als je midden in een stad slaapt.

Cons:

Koeling op de kamer maar ja, het was gewoon benauwd en daar is weinig aan te doen./

Dat de opstap om de douch te komen best hoog is en misschien men kan uitglijden of vergeten als je klaar bent met douchen

Nice Stay
Pros:

Nice neighborhood, about 15 min walk to Central Station. Lots of restaurants nearby. Nice included coffee and pastry next door.

Cons:

Like most Amsterdam hotels, be prepared for a steep set of stairs. The small double room was VERY small.

Pros:

Really nice and friendly staff! The hotel was clean and smelled good, and had a really good breakfast deal with the cafe across the street. I strongly recommend and would stay at Calisto again.
