Elegant hotel in a very private peaceful location. Easy access from car to the room. Good breakfast. Great pit stop on way home from the north
Room service supper wasn’t great. In hindsight I’d have gone down to supper with the children instead as they were so good with children.
The grounds are outstanding, staff very approachable and spa was great too
Room could of been a little cleaner, there was quite a bit of dust and this obviously wasn't just recent surface dust and it was also quite expensive. For the cost I would of expected a spotless room
Hotel is in beautiful countryside with easy access to walks. Hotel is in fabulous building. Room was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Enjoyed very good facial and massage in spa.
Staff training seemed erratic - some give very good service and knew what they were doing, others seemed a bit clueless e.g. some asked other guests about allergens but not us, didn't clear tables promptly. We had an issue with the room on first night and had to be moved - this was handled quickly but think we shouldn't have been allocated to first room (obvious drain problem). We had dinner which was good but not at the standard we expected from a 2AA rosette.
Breakfast was average. No fried eggs provided and only orange juice - no apple juice available. The mushrooms were cold, yet we were very early down to breakfast. We also had to ask for toast
No staff on reception when we arrived.
During the World Cup Final the sound was muted on both channels showing the match. It was restored only during the hydration breaks and at half time. Sound was available on all other channels not showing the match so there was no technical fault
Beautiful hotel
Not much choice on the menu
from the welcome, amazing coffee, after a 4 hour journey, space for my Harley outside, amazing room, super clean, ground and views to die for, Gods own country, two rose restaurant, could or should be a three, the breakfast was rocking, they made me fresh salmon and bre, as a massive coffee head, the coffee after our meal, was maybe the best coffee I have ever had, go and see. best break.
nothing really, we went for a night away and it was great, shame the spa was busy. would have had a treatment, should have booked something.
Lovely location and grounds.
Room felt a little dated for the money. Staff were pleasant enough but not very attentive at times. Had to wait several times in bar despite not being busy. Breakfast was average. Evening meal was good but overpriced for what it was.

Location plus lovely room
The dining room and staff were excellent
The menu was adventurous but was a limited choice and some surprising omissions.
For example I had lamb and would normally have boiled new potatoes but these were not on the menu with only chips being offered. The meal was lovely despite this.
The food was great, quick service and very friendly staff.
Cleaning wasn't spotless...back of the toilet was very dusty but otherwise good.
I love the hotel
The spa could do with a little upgrade
Breakfast excellent
Few issues at dinner with wine and overcharge for cheese board although this was sorted just took a bit of time. However food was delicious
Great location. Very good breakfast. Coffee and tea facilities in room excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful.Very
Small details. Towel rail needed near wash bowl for hand and bath towels.
The hotel building was gorgeous in a very peaceful setting with lovely views.
The bar and restaurant were very elegant and what you would expect to find in this type of hotel.
We really enjoyed the food also , although a little pricey.
I don’t like to criticise but I was very disappointed that our family room only had 2 beds (sofa bed and double bed ) as I had emailed to confirm that our teenage son and daughter would have extra beds so this meant that I shared the sofa bed with my daughter and my husband shared with our son. I didn’t complain when we arrived as we were exhausted from a long journey and also it was obvious there was no space for a fold down bed in the room . The room itself was very average, not enough plugs , tiny high level windows and no air con that I could see anyway . There was no info in the room about meal times or spa facilities available and on our arrival the reception staff didn’t give us any information at all , which I thought was very strange , especially considering this was a 4 star hotel, a level 9 /10 on booking.com.
