Great location and the rooms were really good. Large room and bed. Facilities were great and the staff were amazing
N/A
Large room, comfortable bed.
The little details. Did not respond to messages sent before arriving. Long-winded and old-fashioned check-in process. Didn’t explain how to lock door which turned out wouldn’t shut on its own, musty smell in room, comically small sink in bathroom despite large shower, poor tea and coffee making facilities. Room too expensive for a facility like this. Breakfast expensive.
Fab hotel, decent room. Regardless of another guest getting bed bugs, I thought it was a great spot in a great location. I don't normally leave reviews but the receptionist was rude on several occasions. I had two rooms booked. She was rude to my brother when checking in - gave out about me booking both rooms under my name saying "you can't do that". (We work in hotels, yes we can). She proceeded to charge him after I had already paid. When I checked in the following morning, she was rude about my early arrival. I politely asked if it was possible to check in and she said "it's way too early" and that was it. She was dismissive when I asked about the refund for her error charging us twice and blamed Booking.com when it wasn't Booking.com speaking to my brother in such a disrespectful manner. She snapped at me the following morning when my fob wouldn't work. She was rude to 4 of my family members also staying in the Jacobean - 4 rooms booked.. I never leave reviews but I know two of your staff members and they were horrified, yet not surprised, by her cold reception. Irrespective of the fact that my family and I were in Coventry for a funeral, she made things much more difficult being rude to me and my family. We felt like an inconvenience interrupting her from her day. She is cold, rude and is the sole reason why will not be returning when we visit next month. The lady serving breakfast however was so friendly and wonderful when I arrived early and wanted breakfast. The night porter was also lovely. I don't know the rude receptionist's name but my friends who work there said you'll know exactly who I'm talking about. Thanks for a great stay otherwise.
See above. I've never left a bad review but she was beyond rude during an already incredibly difficult time for our family.
I arrived late and was made to feel very welcome. All facilities described. The fan was most welcome.
Maybe a bottle of water in the room. It was a very hot night.
The rooms were lovely, we had breakfast one day which was very good and the staff were lovely and very welcoming
This is our 2nd stay at this hotel. The first night was fine but when we arrived back for the second night the car was full, having no knowledge of the area, I asked the receptionist where we could park and her answer was “ I know some people park on the pub across the road but I don’t know how long you can stay there” which wasn’t very helpful. I then asked to book a table in the restaurant but was told I couldn’t as there was a wedding. Our only option was to eat in a very noisy bar, which we would have never chosen to do. It would have been so much better if they had just bothered to tell us all this upfront - even when we checked in as we could have found somewhere to eat on our way back
Love the place and the upgraded WiFi is a real bonus
Nothing
Room was beautifully furnished
Greedy dishonest management. So many lies.
I call to ask if the cheapest double room for £60 is on the ground floor for disabled access...
Lie 1: they say it is and that I should go ahead and book it on booking.com
Lie 2: they send me a message saying I need to pay an additional £10 for a ground floor room because it has been refurbished and that they cannot waive the extra charge (of course they can, they have some descretion)
Lie 3: the manager angrily tells me that they never said the £60 rooms were on the ground floor. Gaslighting me about a previous conversation they weren't even part of.
Lie 4: they tell me I need to contact Booking.com to cancel without the 100% cancellation fee and that they cannot approve the request sent to them via booking.com.
Lie 5: they tell me by phone they will cancel it at 7am the next morning for FREE but cannot provide anything it writing by email or booking.com chat and I need to take their word for it. All corrospondance is by phone which I cannot legally record without their consent.
Lie 6: they tell me the manager has gone home but I hear them talking in the background.
Once at the hotel, the list of fees made Ryanair feel generous. even replenishing tea in room is an extra fee.
I felt really powerless throught and the useless Booking.com AI put me completely at the hotel's mercy. Avoid this hotel at all costs unless you have bottomless pockets.
The picture on the sign at the lobby is very symbolic of the service I received.
Friendly staff. Room had been recently renovated so everything was perfect.
good breakfast, new refurbished room, very pleasant staff
It really friendly from the minute you arrive
Staff , management , housekeeping , everyone
Being renovated and the new bedrooms are gorgeous. Food was outstanding
Will definitely be back
Lovely hotel and beer garden. Receptionist was very welcoming as were the bar staff. Bedding all clean and room was of a good size. We were also upgraded to king sized bed which was very kind.. shower was perfect too. Breakfast was plentiful and our waitress was fabulous. Hot pastries were great. We would stay again.
Fan was not sufficient for the room and started to sound like 5 helicopters had landed. No glasses in room. The quilt was way too thick for the time of year and pillows were a bit to hard. Bacon couldn't be cut with a knife as so chewy.
I have stayed here previously but not for awhile, I thought at one stage, it had closed down!
Has a new owner and some big improvements.
Reception staff were lovely and helpful, room was very clean, tidy and comfortable, excellent shower and comfy beds.
Location fantastic for Coventry and visiting family etc and reasonable price for the room, so a positive and good outcome.
Again no EV charging but I guess that's an on going issue.
Excellent
Nothing
The room itself was clean and the bed was comfortable.
The building is a little dated, the windows allow a lot of noise from the road, the floors creek and the halls were either going through refurbishment or really needed some.
