This property is truly special. The attention to detail and the warmth and hospitality of the team is outstanding. Food is unbeatable and the location and gardens make for a retreat experience. I would highly recommend for guests looking for a relaxing time in Cape Town - a stones throw from everything without the hustle and bustle - and a top-class 18-hole golf course at the "bottom of the garden". Over-exceeded on all expectations.
An exceptional experience in a carefully manicured paradise. The setting is simply beautiful, nestled between the vineyards and an 18 hole golf course this hotel consists of sympathetically converted old colonial buildings. One building housing and exquisite restaurant Tryn. The separate winery 5 minutes away houses a further bistro and wine tasting suite, stunning.
A lovely vineyard walk gives rise to some amazing views. As non golfers, we could only respect the standard of the fairways and greens that looked immaculate.
Breakfast was a real treat, impeccable service, super quality and great choice. Food here is a real highlight
Our room was spacious. Fully equipped, very comfortable, air conditioned, modern and very high quality in all respects.
what place to stay! Hope I can get back again soon. The golf the location and the staff were all faultless.
Overall experience from welcome to departure was just fantastic. Everybody did an amazing customer centric an fiendly job. Such a beautiful place on earth with friedly people and amazing food and wine. Even not playing golf - a fantastic experience
The rooms, the service, the food and the wine were all excellent! I would highly recommend this resort!
Stayed in this fantastic hotel last week (24-27 Feb). Everything about the place was perfect, from the rooms to the restaurants and beyond. Although I didn’t have time to play the golf course was stunning, and the wine tasting experience was very enjoyable. Food in both restaurants was exceptional and the staff were fabulous everywhere, however I must mention Fiona & Clint In Reception and Oliver in the Tryn Restaurant who went above and beyond to ensure everything about our stay was perfect. We will definitely visit again. My favourite place in South Africa!
The hotel was first class in every way. Great service from Heinricht before booking, and this continued with all the staff, throughout our stay. Beautiful room, with pretty little courtyard. Fabulous breakfasts served at your table. The breakfast area enabled you to feel that you were eating amongst the vines. Dinner in both the tapas and more formal restaurant, was very good indeed and our complementary wine tasting was a really unexpected treat. Such a beautiful & chic location, amazing wines and service second to none.
We provided some constructive feedback to Philippa, the wonderful Front of House Manager, and her lovely Assistant Manager (sorry forgot your name), This was that a bar area would be a great enhancement. There was apparently a bar there previously and this could apparently be relatively easily, reinstated. There was only a very small but pretty public lounge, which wasn’t really a space to mingle and meet other guests. All the outdoor spaces, such as the terraces were however lovely. Terrace outside our room had wonderful, regular visitors - a family of owls! Amazing to see! The swimming pool area was very nice indeed but for us just too shaded. We tended to sit out in the orchard garden behind the pool. Again, we shared feedback that this area could be enhanced by adding cabanas or similar, to make it feel a more integrated section between the pool and the beautiful new spa.
A beautiful hotel, very well managed, with first class staff and food. Although it centres around a champions golf course, for non golfers, it was also a perfect environment in which to stay. It is very well located for all Constanta wineries and Kalk Bay/Noordhoek area.. We will most definitely return!
Losteenberg was fabulous! Such a lovely room, very friendly staff! And beautiful pool area 💙and lovely morning walk through the vinyards 💚and delicious breakfast
This hotel is an absolute gem. It is a heritage estate set among the vines, and yet feels so contemporary and has exquisite facilities matched by tremendous staff. The food, the facilities, the gardens, the elegant yet happily homely decor makes this a place like no other and definitely the best in the Cape.
We stayed here on our honeymoon for a week as base to explore Cape Town. It was the absolute perfect location - outside the busy centre and a tranquil place to relax, but within easy reach of the centre and the winelands to go sight seeing.
Everyone we encountered was very friendly. Clint really looked after us especially, helping us organise excursions which were all perfect. The food was absolutely exceptional throughout. Our room was really pretty and the grounds were peaceful and very well looked after.
We couldn't have asked for a better stay in Cape Town and hope we can come back one day!
Unfortunately just one night stay with family of three in two rooms. Everything was just perfect; grounds, facilities, food at Tryn and the very helpful staff. Only comment was that pricing during top holiday season was quite high, also for non SA standards - but worth it
We just loved staying here - a real highlight of our trip to Cape Town. Our room was stunning. The food and service at both restaurants were some of the best we have ever had. In fact, all of the staff were great - so friendly and helpful. The grounds are stunning and we loved walking the trail around the vineyard. We were sad to have to check out and can't wait to go back again!
The Steenberg is an exceptionally beautiful hotel, especially for golfers. The golf club is a 5-minute walk away. And the golf course is fantastic, one of the most beautiful in all of South Africa!
The hotel offers an outstanding breakfast, and the service is very attentive and friendly (thanks to everyone, especially Kieran, who made sure everything was perfect during our last breakfast because we had to leave so early. Thanks again!).
Both restaurants there are great, we especially love the bistro! The shuttle service there runs constantly, we never had to wait. But we also had a great lunch at Tryn. Conclusion: this was our second time here and we will definitely be back!
It is also particularly worth mentioning that they were especially attentive with my gluten intolerance, every meal was carefully considered and adjusted accordingly. Thank you for that.
We had the most fantastic stay at Steenberg with our baby. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
We were lucky enough to stay in the 2 bed villa and it was absolutely gorgeous and enormous!! The beds were so comfortable we slept incredibly well. There was great outdoor space with tables and sun lounges and a private pool, which was perfect for us to enjoy when our baby was sleeping.
The staff in hotel from the reception to restaurant and spa were all fantastic. Special shout out to Adam at reception who made us feel very special and even sent a penguin cuddly toy for our baby to enjoy. Pinky in the spa also gave me one of the best facials I have ever had and tailored it totally to my skin with great results.
As we stayed in most nights we had dinner on our terrace and it was a real novelty that you are able to order food from the restaurant and not just a condensed room service menu. The steak and venison were exceptional.
Thank you so much for making our trip so memorable and special.
My wife and I stayed at Steenberg for 5 days. Everything was excellent: the rooms spacious, well decorated and clean; the restaurants with good food and atmosphere, location beautiful, and personnel always willing to make you comfortable and trying for you to have the best of times.
A first rate hotel in amazing surroundings in the Constantia vineyards... Two excellent restaurants and amazing breakfasts.
We has the most magical three night stay in a premium room, the staff and facitlites second to none a truly wonderful place cant recommed enopugh
Steenberg Hotel & Spa was without doubt one of the top places we have stayed. And we are lucky enough to have stayed at an awful lot of 5 star establishments. The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The type of room you could happily stay and vegitate in, were that not such a waste of the rest of the hotel. The spa and facilities were lovely and both restaurants offered top quality dining. The winery itself - well its one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa and you only last that long if you are top notch, so say no more. The whole place, set in beautiful scenery and only a short drive to the action of Cape Town, has a real sense of serenity about it. But the most memorable aspect has to be the personalised and genuine service. I could not fault it. The next time I am in the area, I will almost certainly stay again.
Well done to your amazing staff who are knowledgeable and courteous, and thank you for the great breakfasts and excellent dinner menu at Tryn.
We agree with the other reviewers who feel let down by the Hotel. The photographs provided by the Hotel do not reflect the reality. There are no Mountain View’s, all you can see is a high hedge. Also, the pool pictured is not for the use of most guests, we were shown to a crowded Spa pool and there were no loungers or shade.
