Location and cleanliness
Poor shower
Huone oli siisti ja hotellin sijainti paras mahdollinen.
Aamiainen suppea ja todella hidas palvelu.
The place is great. The room is comfortable. Nice atmosphere
There is no safe or fridge in the room. There was no iron, and there aren't enough power outlets for charging
Beautiful clean well-located convenient hotel.
We had family come into town and meet us at hotel to walk around Galway for the day. There was a cozy room between the restaurant and bar that accommodated our meet up for tea and coffee at the beginning and end of our day.
AC
Beautiful old hotel, close to restaurants, big comfortable bed. Good restaurant in hotel
A bit challenging to find parking
Good breakfast in nice dining area.
Tv was not working.
Location very good, close to everything
Small room and bed, old bathroom
The Western Hotel was our home for 4 nights while we explored western Ireland. Three Georgian townhouses were combined to create the hotel. Lots of old architectural features were retained. Yes, some of the negative comments posted here are true, especially with heating. Our room had an electric wall heater, that ran on a timer for energy savings. Unfortunately, our first 2 days in Galway were unseasonably chilly and we were given a portable heater for our stay. We did use it at night for part of our stay. There are a number of different room styles, some fancy, some plain. Our room was plain but had plenty of space. Our bathroom was large and spartan, and could have used more shelf area for toiletries, especially near the pedestal sink, and a second towel bar. There is only one elevator, but our wait time was brief.
That said, we found many things to like. The hotel is a block off the main square, so it is fairly quiet. The restaurants, pubs and shopping are all within a short walk. The hotel staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and professional. The bar area is very comfortable. The restaurant is an undiscovered gem. In addition to an excellent breakfast (we prepaid), the dinner menu features some Irish traditions that are excellent. The seafood chowder and the Irish stew (the best I ate in Ireland) are my favorites. And, keeping with popular Galway activities, the bar has traditional music and other bands about 5 nights a week, without the crowding of the popular tourist pubs.
Well located close to Eyre Square at the heart of the city with an easy walk down to the Quays. We had no problem with finding the underground garage and used it to park our car during our two day stay. Very friendly staff and an excellent breakfast provided made for an enjoyable stay.
Very contented with our room and service.
Localisation
Les nombreux escaliers pour rentrer et dans l établissement; compliqué avec une poussette..
Pas de machine à café dans la chambre ni de mini frigo.
Very central 2 minutes from Eyre Square, so clean and lovely restaurant and bar food is delicious and staff so accomodating
Nothing
Location. Staff and the restaurant for dinner was very good.
Area that could have been better was daily house keeping, not for cleanliness but lack of replacing items like coffee pods and toilet paper in the room.
Also more shelf space in bathroom would be a good idea.
