I could clearly hear every step the guest in the room above me took. This may be due to the rooms having wood floors rather than carpet. Also, this La Quinta, while accepting larger dogs, excludes certain breeds, including German Shepherds.
I’ve stayed at this La Quinta before, and always with a cat. After a long drive down from Nashua, New Hampshire from a cat show with my near-grand champion (and a raging headache to boot) I booked a room at this “pet friendly” La Quinta, which had just been remodeled according to recent reviews.
I was a little over an hour away when I made the reservation, and was looking forward to crashing at a reasonable hour.
The young lady on the front desk was nice, but explained to me that they no longer accept cats. I have show cats. My cats are clean, recently bathed, have their claws clipped, and are totally non-destructive. Furthermore, I am not a slob; I always travel with at least a whisk broom to clean up after my pets, and I am conscious of putting my cat’s litter pan and food bowls in the bathroom, and not on carpeting.
That didn’t cut any ice.
By the way, they also have a list of dogs that they do not permit, as well: Akitas, Dobermans, Rottweilers, Pit Bulls (Staffordshire terriers) and something else, but I don’t remember what at the moment.
And if you are sensitive to scents and so-called room fresheners. be forewarned: the lobby absolutely reeked with some sort of perfume-y cover-up, which nearly set off my asthma during the short five minutes I was there.
Theoretically, my credit card is not supposed to be charged for the nonexistent stay, and I will closely monitor that.
To maintain my travels home, (rather than backtracking) I proceeded to the La Quinta in Aberdeen, Maryland, which was the absolutely nicest La Quinta I have ever stayed at.
Clean, comfort
Easy to hear noise from next room
The room was actually enormous
Everything was clean
Security deposit was returned promptly
Everything was great
Location
Not the quietest place between the guests and dumpster emptied multiple days. Bed was worn out, dog park was over grown , breakfast was not fully cooked
Very clean staff was very nice I will stay again when take another mini vacation. The room was very spacious.
I love the floors with no carpet, and that the room had a microwave in it, which is rare in rooms these days. Breakfast wasn't bad either. I do wish they had bacon every day instead of rotating between bacon and sausage each day. I enjoyed two days of nice bubble baths in that tub, too. My housekeeper, Maria, was awesome!!!
There wasn't anything I disliked about my room
Booked a suite which was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. My son had a room to himself. Location was easily accessible from many locations. An excellent bargain.
