Setting
Receptionist in morning was rather occupied with tech
Good value for money and clean comfy bed - nice and quiet in the rooms and staff very pleasant. A little dated but that's reflected in the price.
WiFi was not working the day we arrived - they had an emergency IT person on site fixing it. The hotel turned things around by giving us guest wifi access as we needed WiFi for work
Schöne Lage des Hotels außerhalb von York.
Frühstück und Abendessen gut. Zimmer groß genug. Betten gut.
Lovely hotel
Well worth the money for one night 😉
Ample free parking. No road noise. Big suite. Coffee maker. Nice large grounds.
Welcome was Fawlteyesque, or Yorksire esque with flat out NO to simple requests. Not even, "sorry, no". No smile from receptionist, and outright hostility from night manager. Broken light socket in exec double, inadequate lighting for reading. We had planned on eating dinner, but failure to even offer up some sort of basic to-go breakfast (we had booked and paid for full b'fast, but dreadful traffic delays every day made us decide to leave before b'fast on final day) cost them a couple of hundred quid of lost dinner revenue.
The staff throughout our stay were great, especially the bar who were much warmer than the Reception team. Room was clean and comfortable, well stocked hot drink facilities and some old school biscuits. Plenty of towels and pillows.
Only complaint is the limescale on the shower head and the water temp fluctiating between luke warm and cold in the shower, bathrooms really need sone work. Bath felt like it was going to collapse under us in the shower.
Spacious
Attractive to view on arrival. Room fine but faced afternoon sun and was hot (curtains should have been closed against the heat). Asked for a fan and a small one was provided.
I encountered several members of staff, some quite friendly, others not so. Car parking was a problem.
I asked for just continental breakfast but was told I would have to pay for a full one.
A comfortable hotel for an overnight stop. Comfortable bed, clean, quiet and a decent breakfast.
I find a standard double bed a little small these days.
Basic but clean
Meal although good quality were a but pricey
Lovely setting, the room was spacious and very clean. The restaurant and food were very good. Plenty of choice, good service and excellent food. Every member of staff was friendly, helpful and all worked very hard to help every client. We had a really comfortable night with no outside noise at all.
Hotel maybe looked a bit tired but definitely didn't take away from a good stay.
The staff were lovely, polite and couldn’t do enough for you. Really kind and nice people.
The front looks nice but the back and sides of the building give a totally different impression. The furniture was old and worn, everything felt like it needed a bit of an update. The mattress was very hard and the pillows very thin, not the most comfortable nights sleep. The food was mediocre with only one vegetarian option (ratatouille pie) on the menu other than pizza.
