Hidden gem which was excellent value for money
Pros:

Very handy location for visiting Thirsk. Plenty of onsite parking. Excellent evening meal and breakfast food using quality ingredients.

Cons:

Breakfast finish time a little early at 9.30am. 10am would have been a better time.

Good Location

Cons:

The Breakfast - all served from fixed hot trays and plates (carvery style) - left standing, and not cooked freshly to order. Bacon was dry and leathery. Sausages and Black Pudding very bland and tasteless. Mushrooms and Scrambled Eggs were OK. Good bread for toasting. Orange Juice and Coffee Good.

It was ok but could be a lot better.

Quiet, good location, nice surroundings/gardens; some friendly staff

Cons:

Suite; decor and furniture very dated; both on suites, no window or operating fan; signs to ask you to keep doors closed whilst showering or face a £160 fine if it causes the alarms to be activated; shower curtains not screens, both bathrooms smelt very musty and unpleasant: a small fridge would definitely be an asset given it was the suite and there was plenty of room; breakfast was good however the only evening meal we had was below standard (and this was passed on to the staff);

Pros:

Beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings. Staff were very hard working right from reception, restaurant to bar.

Cons:

This is the only hotel that I have stayed where there were no hash browns on the breakfast buffet. There were empty hot plates so there was room for them.

Burn Hall Bliss
Pros:

This place is a hidden gem, the grounds are beautiful. The room was comfortable and spacious. Food in the restaurant was lovely.

Cons:

Its a shame that the hotel is not on a bus route into York itself, but an uber was quick and we enjoyed our day in town.

It is in beautiful surroundings. The staff, 4 of which seem to be there 24/7, were lovely, hard working.

Cons:

Completely soulless, no flowers, no plants, no paintings, no ornaments, baron of any kind of homely, welcoming decorum. The World Cup final was on during our stay, absolutely no celebrations, a great opportunity to put on some kind of festive atmosphere! Nothing, nada!!! What’s with a £2 supplement to have skinny fries instead of hand cut???
