One of the most absurd examples of customer service I have experienced
Pros:

I was attending a work away day with around 40 colleagues, all staying overnight. Because I was busy with another matter, I missed the tea and scones that had been served outside to my colleagues by just a matter of minutes.

I asked if I could buy a pot of tea and a scone in the tearoom at my own expense. I wasn’t asking for anything free, and I certainly wasn’t asking for a full afternoon tea. I simply wanted to purchase a cup of tea and a scone that the hotel had just served to approximately 40 guests.

The response? “No. You need to give 24 hours’ notice.”

Think about that for a moment. A four-star hotel had just served tea and scones to dozens of people but claimed it couldn’t possibly serve one paying guest a few minutes later because of a 24-hour notice policy. No apology, no attempt to find a solution, no alternative, no interest in helping. Just a breathtaking display of inflexibility.

The irony is that earlier the same day the hotel had happily accommodated a separate lunch request that I paid for, making this refusal even more incomprehensible.

This wasn’t about tea and scones. It was about an attitude that appeared to value rules over guests. Hospitality should be about making people feel welcome, using common sense, and taking pride in looking after customers. Instead, I was made to feel like an inconvenience for asking to buy something the hotel had literally just been serving.

If this is the level of customer care a four-star hotel considers acceptable, then the star rating means very little.

The experience was so poor that I checked out and left rather than stay the night. Walking away from a hotel is not a decision I take lightly, but the complete lack of customer care convinced me that there was little point in remaining. It was an astonishingly poor example of hospitality, and I won’t be returning.

One star is generous. If Tripadvisor allowed zero stars, that’s what this experience would have received.

Good hotel but spa is poor
Pros:

Stayed for a long weekend in a clean, spacious room. Had to check ourselves in, as the receptionist directed us to, plus when we asked for some more hangers (we had 5, not enough for 4 nights!) we had to chase this up in person much later. Other staff seemed disinterested, like when we asked for more coffee, 2 sachets is not enough, and we were told to go to the bar as he was too busy!
Breakfast manager was much more friendly, and the food was pleasant and filling.
Spa looks a bit tired and needs better maintenance like broken grills around the jacuzzi. Sauna small and badly painted. Pool is an okay size.
We had a lovely massage but the pedicure involved a home foot spa, a limited choice of colours and was poorly done, but easily removed as it was ordinary polish rather than gel / UV cured. A very poor show for a spa! The therapists were lovely, else I'd have asked for a refund.
We might stay again, as it's close to London /Elizabeth line, but only if there is an offer on and we can factor in the free parking as we'd want it just as a hotel.

No Ac or Fans in Room or Available Upon Request
Pros:

I stayed at your hotel overnight on Saturday 27 June 2026 and I am writing to raise a complaint regarding the standard of my stay.

I was very disappointed to discover that there was no air conditioning in the room. Given the known heatwave at the time, I would have expected suitable provisions to be in place to ensure guests could stay comfortably.

In addition, I was advised by the concierge that fans were provided in the rooms. However, there was no fan in my room, and when I requested one, I was told that none could be provided. This was particularly disappointing and, in my view, demonstrated a poor level of care for guests during extreme temperatures.

As a result, the room was exceptionally hot throughout the night, which made the stay very uncomfortable and led to a poor overall hotel experience.

Considering the high cost of the stay and the fact that this was presented as a luxury hotel, I do not feel that the basic expected standards were met. I therefore request a refund for my stay.

I look forward to your response.

Wonderful spa break getaway!
Pros:

We recently stayed for a one-night spa break to celebrate my son’s 20th birthday, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish.

On arrival, we were delighted to be upgraded to one of the Beech Twin rooms, which was beautiful, spacious and, during this very hot weather, the air conditioning was greatly appreciated. We were also welcomed with a complimentary glass of Prosecco, which was a lovely touch.

A special mention must go to Ian on reception, who was incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. He really made us feel valued as guests and helped make the occasion feel extra special.

We also enjoyed fantastic spa treatments, and Erica, our massage therapist, was absolutely wonderful. Her warm, friendly manner and excellent massage left us both feeling completely relaxed and refreshed.

The hotel itself is set in beautiful surroundings, and we loved walking through the stunning woodland around Burnham Beeches. It was peaceful, picturesque and the perfect setting for a relaxing break.

In the evening, we enjoyed a beautiful meal together, and the following morning we were treated to an excellent breakfast. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, professional and genuinely hospitable.

Most importantly, my son and I had such a lovely time celebrating his birthday together and created some very special memories. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable. We would not hesitate to return and highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing getaway.

Feel like I’ve got sunstroke from the room.
Pros:

It was a very nice place, well decorated and clean. Staff were friendly

Cons:

I get that it’s a warm time of the year. But seeing as the rooms have no ac, a decent fan would be nice. Would have got a better breeze from a little usb desk fan. The room didn’t call down one bit and feel we got sunstroke from the room. It felt like coming off a plane walking into that room. Couldn’t even have a cold-ish shower to cool down as they are stuck at around 40 degrees, and didn’t have a fridge to put a cold bottle of water in. The water in the bottle they gave us felt like it came out of the hot tap. Would have at least had a decent night sleep at a premier in.

A calming retreat with exceptional service all round
Pros:

I recently visited this hotel for a solo overnight stay. I was looking to relax and recharge my batteries in a peaceful seating. This hotel certainly provided that and more!

From the welcoming and quick check in at the front desk, to any request I made being met...and promptly. All the way through to Ian in the restaurant, who was very welcoming, friendly and seemed to throughly enjoy his job, as that was evident in the exceptional service he provided. He is a great asset to the company.

Thank you Burnham Beeches Hotel, I will certainly be returning!
