La Mon Hotel & Country Club

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had no complaints. The food was beautiful, the staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend La Mon.

Having just stayed at this Hotel with Just Go Travel Coach Tour, felt the service and quality of food was poor. The staff struggled to manage, particularly at Breakfast, with a second Coach and a local training course converging into the restaurant area every morning at the same time.. It was a fight to get around the small buffet area and food was regularly running out awaiting replenishment. Not expected when all these were pre-booked at this 4* Hotel. The evening meal was also slow even though the meals were pre-ordered. Had no time at Hotel to use facilities that were on offer.
Some rooms do not have air conditioning or safe deposit boxes. Shower Baths were the normal and may give problems to those with age mobility issues.
The venue is £20 taxi ride from the city center.

Due to the nature of the event there were additional needs re rooms, check ins and groups at breakfast. nothing was any trouble to the hotel teams. Hotel was provided with a list of requirements - didnt even need to check - all proficiently sorted. . Great friendly and proactive customer service.

The staff did everything they could to make the event run smoothly. Perfect day all round. No issue was too small to sort out. Fantastic venue, food, hospitality etc all round.

I was there for my cousin's wedding and everything about it from start to finish was perfect. My cousin did all the organising but my meal, which had to be different from others, was delicious and the staff were nice and attentive to everyone's needs. The grounds were lovely for the photos.

The property served a purpose providing accommodation within reasonable proximity of both church and wedding reception venue for a family wedding we were attending.
The hotel reminds me of the purpose built corporate hotels of the 1990s. Quite austere, lacking in charm or character; fake fire in the entrance and a warren of corridors through multiple doors to access bedrooms.
Bedroom was large with dated decor and we were unable to open net curtain to appreciate the countryside views. Bathroom dated with shower in the bath. Comfortable bed.
Room service for a late lunch ordered when we arrived took over an hour to arrive.
I think ‘country club’ really stretches both the definition and what one might imagine from a country club! A very small indoor pool with small surrounding area and a rather tired sauna and steam room. The Spa is outsourced, very small and there was no one in attendance when I tried to book a treatment.
Breakfast buffet was very average; in a country known for for lovely breads including Veda, soda and wheaten breads it was disappointing to be offered just supermarket sliced white and brown bread. Pastries looked unappetising although cooked breakfast buffet option was fine.
Parking was good.

First impressions were good. Then we discovered used condoms in our bathroom YUK. NO apology given when mess was cleared up. Hotel Staff varied. Some were lovely. Girl with glasses and blond hair in restaurant, so friendly and apologetic for the way others spoke to us. Chubby waiter who brought our bags to the room, and also the night porter were welcoming and spoke to us as if we mattered. Other staff barely tolerated us because we were just coach passengers, not " real delegates". Some of us who have mobility issues were spoken to as if we were mentally defective. The reception staff were arrogant, which made it even worse when they fussed over our driver (Who is great) to gain favour for further trips. When I left the key cards, I asked where to hand them in.. a lady just pointed at the desk, and walked off without speaking. The lady who was on the phone opened them without any acknowledgement.. I guess the tip I left was too small, in her view, but I really didn't feel we had been looked after well. So sad. Our first visit to NI. The first 2 days in Ballcastle had been enjoyable, the last two less so. Another couple had to use the public toilets when their bathroom WC didn't work. Such a shame, because we had such high hopes. A bit of training will make this a good venue. You don't send clients out of a bar because they are on a coach trip, especially when they have asked and been told that it is OK to sit at tables in the bar. Heh ho. They also make a good display of dietary requirements, but offered a lady normal tea when she asked for decaff....... only to be told by another member of staff that there was no decaff. I hope they improve, because the setting is lovely. It could have been a good experience without a lot of effort on their part. So sad.

We had our wedding day at the la mon and it was 10/10. From booking to planning to the day Clare and Natalie couldn’t have been more helpful. Always there to answer my questions and any issues were resolved quickly. Food was delicious and set up of everything was beautiful. Staff on the day of our wedding were so pleasant and overall I’m so glad we chose the la mon as our venue.

A mini (quarter bottle) of wine £9.50! Exorbitant

I Booked this for my friend as a special treat for her 79th Birthday… everything was laid out beautifully including birthday balloons I had ordered.. Tea was served in gorgeous individual tea sets.. we had Little Miss Princess and it was adorable .. we did a mix of savoury and sweet treats and the food as ever was outstanding. I will include photos below.. I really recommend this for a special occasion and I would definitely love to do this again.

A lovely and serene hotel. They have spacious rooms and courteous staff who go above and beyond to serve customers on time

I contacted the hotel directly and explained to the reception team exactly what I had in mind for a special date night. They went above and beyond to bring my vision to life, creating the most wonderful, romantic setting for my partner and me, complete with rose petals and a beautiful large bouquet of flowers.

Throughout our entire stay, every member of staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming, which made our time there even more enjoyable and relaxing.

I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a special experience. We will definitely be back!

We had our wedding reception in La mon hotel and country club and I could not fault it.
Everything was perfect!! Staff were friendly and professional, food was incredible and the rooms were fantastic. The most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.
Special shout out to Claire who went over and above to make sure we had the day that we dreamt about
