Cosy and convenient
Pros:

Great location to get to and from city centre, with train and tram stop being a few minutes walk away.
Retail park just across the road if you needed to grab any bits for your room, which was really convenient.
Shower in the hotel room was amazing.
Beds were comfy despite them appearing hard, woke up with no aches or pains so it's a win for me! I'd buy them hotel pillows if I could.

Cons:

£10 per day for parking, if you get a code from reception, had we not had that it would have been £24. Understandable as I know parking in Edinburgh is a nightmare.

Strong 4 star hotel
Pros:

We had a very enjoyable 4 night stay in the Novotel. It's a good location for the airport with a taxi only about £30. Its worth comparing prices to more central locations but anything more than £10 a night and the Novotel is better value. It's very near the tram and has a KFC and Krispy Kreme opposite which quickly became part of our evening routine. (Wallet and waistline need to recover this week 🙃 ) However there's a chance to burn off those calories. The gym and pool are small but both really good- really impressive treadmills and a nice pool with sauna and steamroom. My son loved it. The breakfast is decent with a good selection of foods and coffee. There's chess and fussball to keep the kids entertained. Overall I'd rate the hotel at the upper end of 4 star hotels and reasonable value.
