Wonderful and memorable
Pros:

The service and friendliness of the staff was exceptional. We were shown direct to our room and shown how to work our room facillities, such as the aircon etc. Our room was clean, tidy and spacious. We were given a suitable time slot for our breakfast and was given a very warm welcome during our stay. We were allowed to safely store our belongings while we went into York City Centre and upon return, we were allowed refreshments whilst we awaited our ride home. Lovely short walk to centre and Minster. Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff and continous service with a smile. Will definitely stay again in the future and highly recommended to others.

Convenient and distinctive, but lacking some care in cleanliness of bed linens and noise from cars.
Pros:

The location of the Churchill is quite good and very easy to walk from the hotel to most points in the city of York. The building and the dining/garden areas were quite distinctive and nice.

Cons:

With recent several Booking.com reservations, it seems that we get the least desirable rooms of offer. For example, in the Churchill hotel, the ground floor room was located right next to the parking lot area, where vehicle noise was a nuisance and hindrance for sleep. One other negative point was that two of the pillows provided were quite horrible with the stench of old sweat and body odor from previous customers. Pillows should be replaced with fresh ones!

Pros:

Very friendly. Easy walk from the station. Beautiful building. Great location for our plans. Clean, comfortable.

Charming hotel near Old York
Pros:

The location of this charming old hotel couldn’t be better, in the edge of Old York and a 15 minute walk to Yorkminster. Very helpful staff, large room with comfortable bed.

Cons:

Our shower was glitching to only deliver very hot water. They tried to fix it but it was still not working properly our second morning.

Worst night we’ve ever had in a hotel, like sleeping in an oven
Cons:

The room was advertised as having air conditioning, which is why we booked it. It didn’t and was completely unbearable in the heat. The window only opened a few inches, it was like an oven.
