Beautiful property! Location was great too—-wish we had longer in York!
Both good
The high price of drinks.
Excellent location, good restaurant, friendly staff!
Our room was facing the rail tracks and with an open window ( mo a/c in the room) and hot weather, it was hard to sleep.
The staff are brilliant, nothing too much trouble. And the location is superb.
Also the breakfast is top quality and a great relaxed start to the day .
Not much, only thing was our room on the bottom floor had an area outside where the staff would congregate for a break and then moan about working conditions etc which was a surprise to hear
The garden was a godsend with the weather being very hot
I don't think any hotel that has car parking facilities, should be charging for guest....especially not £18 a night.
Good location and an interesting property.
Good sized bath towels.
1. The price of parking - I parked remotely.
2. The price of breakfast : I fasted !
3. The “Double Room” was cosy for one: it would have been difficult for two.
Great central location in a high end hotel though the room itself was of a standard quality.
We were expecting that the bathroom might have been of a slightly higher quality. To be specific, the shower-bath could have been designed better as water managed to spray on to floor around the glass panel that was supposed to prevent this.
The staff were very kind and helpful, and the building had a lovely quaint character. The location was amazing, very close to the old town, and the restaurant has a nice garden.
The room was quite small, although this was expected from the room description. The bed could have been more comfortable.
Lovely Hotel and Beer Garden to sit out was fab in the sunshine x
All the staff were amazing and Clare was attentive and made you feel so welcome
Beautiful hotel. Staff great. Facilities in room great. Not a long walk into the centre. Our room was a little small but facilities good.
We did have a small double room at the rear of hotel. Plenty of facilities but just a bit small for what we paid. Had to sleep with window open as so hot but soon realised there is a rail track adjacent to hotel and was noisy at times. My Husband slept through it, I found it hard at times.
Good location, only few minutes walk from town centre. Breakfast was only meal we had, very good quality and service.
Staff friendly and helpful on arrival and when we required support on how to work the bath! Room was clean and functional, had been recently refurbished, bed of decent quality, bottles of fresh water supplied daily. As the name states there are various Winston Churchill themed items throughout the hotel which we liked as it added character in keeping with the older building.
Room a little on the small side, interesting layout in our room as wall meets you when opened door, bathroom entrance rather tight too. No fridge in room. Car parking in the fairly small and tight car park is rather expensive at £18/night.
Amazing inside and out top top class. Beautiful inside hotel and rooms stunning.Staff were absolutely brilliant friendly helpful and very polite. Will definitely be staying again 10000000%.
Not one thing
Loved the building, the location was superb, room was clean and comfortable, we had breakfast there, offering a good selection, and food was hot and fresh. All in all a pleasant enough 2 night stay.
Shower was cold, we had a busy schedule and wanted to shower at 7am, (probably peak shower time), but on both days, no hot water was available
Also, no window in the room! A skylight which did open for fresh air, but had there been a fire in the corridor, we weren't getting out of room 123! Due to no window I doubt the room would be any good for anyone with claustrophobia either I'm afraid. We doubt this room has passed safety regulations.
Good location just a short walk into the centre of York
Breakfast was too expensive so ate out. Bed was comfy.
Found basement area where the superior rooms were a little shabby, needs redecorating. The toilets in this location smelt unpleasant, I found this not nice each time you walked to the room . The room how be it a little dark but I didn't like the area outside the room..
