Categories

Cleanliness
6.3
Mixed reports: several guests reported hair on carpets, dirty tea/coffee trays and mouldy/poor silicone around baths, while others described rooms as spotless and recently decorated.
Service
9.6
Generally praised: multiple mentions of friendly, helpful and professional staff and good service; some inconsistencies (outsides not tidied promptly, slow/no response to complaints and limited goodwill after issues).
Location
9.4
Very positive: repeatedly described as a lovely setting with attractive grounds (good for dogs) and scenic surroundings; minor accessibility notes (distance from car park, no lift/steps).
Room Quality
8.3
Mostly positive: comfortable beds, deep baths, fluffy towels and recent decoration noted; some rooms needed attention (bath areas, shower cleanliness, occasional debris).
Amenities
5.5
Key negative: frequent complaints about the swimming pool, jacuzzi and spa being closed (a primary reason many booked), plus limited bar drink options and some outdoor areas not maintained promptly.
Value for Money
7.6
Mixed: good meals and pleasant grounds for many guests, but loss of expected amenities (closed pool), lack of compensation and inconsistent breakfast quality affected perceived value for some visitors.
Food and Beverage
8.5
Generally favourable for meals and dinner in the bar, praised by many; however breakfast quality was inconsistent with several reports of undercooked or poorly presented items for some mornings.
Overall Experience
8
Overall mixed but positive tilt: guests repeatedly praised location, grounds and staff leading to many enjoyable stays, though repeated amenity failures (pool closures) and occasional cleanliness/breakfast issues left some guests disappointed.

Booked this hotel for my family to stay for my birthday, 4 rooms to be exact, booked it due to late pool opening times.
Pros:

Location and late pool opening hours

Cons:

Pool was closed, no compensation, did not even give money back for breakfast as goodwill, limited drinks at the bar, staff would not tidy up outside areas for hours and some mugs and cups stayed on the table overnight from 3pm of the previous day including rubbish

Good but could be excellent
Pros:

Lovely location and grounds. Lots of choice at breakfast.

Cons:

Lack of attention to detail. Only 3 hangers in the wardrobe, until we asked for more. Outside glass topped tables were never wiped over.

Disappointed
Pros:

We were really disappointed to be honest

Cons:

My husband chose this venue for my daughter and I for
the swimming pool, we weren't given any prior notice and turned up to find the pool was closed. I'm disabled and swimming is one of the only things I can still manage . I asked the reason why and was told it can't be disclosed, I then had to spend a load of money to find something else to do. I have messaged them to complain and not even had a response

Cons:

The property is actually a long block of motel units attached to a 19th century "Hall". It would be more accurately described as Motel Sedgebrook, rather than the inaccurate and misleading Sedgebrook Hall. The breakfast was best described as "dreadful". Poorly cooked sausages, over-cooked eggs, flaccid and old porridge oats, no fruit, yoghurt bowl was empty and disinterested staff didn't bother to refill. What less could I say. The room, however was clean and recently decorated.
