Ideally would have had air con but the room came with a powerful Dyson fan which helped make the warmer temperatures manageable.
Look like beautiful historic property and grounds.
Be very careful when booking this property online. There is no air conditioning in the guest bedrooms. Furthermore, ensure you double-check your checkout page very carefully. I think the room selection table defaults to non-refundable rates even if you filtered for free cancellation, meaning you will be charged the full rate instantly with no warning if you need to cancel due to the lack of room cooling...like me!

Peaceful & quiet location. Grand & imposing exterior. Interesting & homely interiors. Friendly & welcoming staff. Comfortable bedrooms. Superb breakfast (proper scrambled egg). Don't get fooled by the dispensers, the strawberry jam was delicious & marmalade nice & zesty.
Unfortunately we only booked for one night.

The food was not good. The bedroom was red hot we left at 2am as was so hot. The fan was more like a heater
The hotel is quite spectacular, the rooms are comfortable and the staff are excellent. Breakfast was self service with plenty of choice. There were plenty of rooms and outside space to relax in.
My original room was far too hot as I was located about the heated swimming pool. Although the staff tried to help with an air conditioner unit but that was too noisy. I was eventually moved to a much cooler room
The building and grounds are breathtaking and the food was the best we’ve ever had from any hotel we have visited
The room without air con was extremely hot and we wasn’t provided with a fan but we did call reception and they did eventually sort a fan out and it was much more comfortable and manageable

Fire alarm went off albeit briefly in the night but couldn’t get back to sleep for 4 hours.
Too few plug sockets. If you’re going to use one of the two plug sockets for the fan as there’s no aircon at least give us a double plug extension so we can plug our phones in.
Don’t offer room service if there’s no menu in the room and no one picks up the phone when you do call. Both times. The second after going down to the bar and getting a menu.
Rooms were good. Food good. Location good.Staff lovely.

Beautiful hotel, very friendly and welcoming staff.
For me the menu was a bit restricted and I found it hard to find food to my taste. Some odd combinations of flavours- I wanted the chicken Caesar bar food but couldn’t have it without anchovies which I don’t like. Sandwiches were odd.
