Beautiful place. Avoid restaurant.
Pros:

Excellent staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel and surrounding area is beautiful which is the highlight and the hotel itself has a very fancy vibe. They very kindly upgraded us to a bigger room and we were very grateful. Wonderful pool, jaccuzi, sauna and steam room. The highlight was most certainly the team working on reception - very friendly and welcoming.

Cons:

Let downs - no air con and we stayed when it was 38 degrees, but the team provided us with an additional fan (they have Dyson fans in each room but they are not as good as the standard standing fan). The onsite restaurant was unfortunately terrible in terms of food and pricey for the quality. I would not go to the restaurant here - avoid at all costs! Nicer places locally (Monte Forte for pizza), and the breakfast is very average. I also think that housekeeping was okay but not perfect, especially as we stayed for 3 nights and the only cleaning done every day was making the bed quickly. Despite the small let downs, I would stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends given how beautiful the space is - just don't go to the restaurant!

Pros:

Beautiful and excellent celebration

Cons:

Unfortunately there must have been fleas in the carpet given the bites I got (didn’t look like bed bugs). I flagged this to the hotel and asked for plastic bags to pack my stuff but they were dismissive and referred to mosquitos or spiders immediately. I would have given more points as this can happen anywhere pet-friendly with high frequency from weddings but given the dismissive reaction was frustrated - not only did I get bitten but there was denial. Unprofessional.

Nice place, just does match expectations.
Pros:

Stunning setting - the house and grounds are utterly loverly. The rooms are nicely styled an water pressure for the shower was great. Bed was comfy and had the usual facilities (tea, coffee, biscuits etc.).

The staff were lovely - all super friendly.

Cons:

Downside, is the whole place is looking a little tired and doesn't really match the photos on the website. The pool area was a little grotty really and not the most comfortable place to be.

Overall if felt like I'd over paid for the room.

Would come back in the autumn when the weather is cooler
Pros:

Venue is beautiful, located in lovely grounds. Breakfast was very tasty.

Cons:

Breakfast restaurant - the service areas were backed up with lots of people in the restaurant. Staples that most people wanted like fried eggs and hash browns were always running out. Took 3 attempts of going back and forth and finally got a hash brown (not the egg though)
Due to the weather (heat wave) the rooms were unbearably hot. We had two fans which unfortunately did next to nothing. A lot of money to spend when you can't stand to be in the room due to the heat.

Disappointing expressive stay
Pros:

Location is great, property and grounds are beautiful.

Pool is fantastic

Staff were friendly and helpful

Cons:

Last time we were here was just before Christmas and it seemed magical, interior decor was amazing.

This time during a heatwave, I knew there was no aircon, did have a nice Dyson fan but the room was unbearably hot with windows that hardly open. Honestly avoid in summer.

The room was grubby, bathroom fittings and window was broken. There was some renovation going on, which we only found out about on arrival, didn’t disturb us too much, but would be nice to know.

Breakfast was very average, self service coffee machines at that price is a bit cheeky.

Overall I would wait till the renovations are done and you get a better out of season rate, not worth the price in peak season, 100% avoid in summer.

Pros:

The hotel had a lovely garden and pool facilities. The breakfast was also great.

Cons:

The ventilation system in the room was a bit loud. My room was near the pool so the sound was possibly that machinery.
