The castle was gorgeous and the grounds were immaculate and beautifully maintained. Every single member of the staff was professional and friendly, especially the bartender in the lower bar who made me the perfect Old Fashioned. The food servers in that same bar were wonderful ( the food was great too!!), and the man who chatted us up at the front door for us and people at the check-in desk all made us feel so welcomed. And our room was amazing!! The room was outside the castle in the old stables, I believe, and although you had to get a little wet when it rained, it wasn’t a problem (hotel provides umbrellas). We stayed in room 255, which was very spacious. I would request the same room again next time. Just perfect!
Can’t think of a thing.
Breakfast and dinner were great. Lovely menu in the Cedars restaurant.
Were totally surprised with an upgrade to the Donegal suite for our anniversary which was a very nice gesture. Staff were all great and friendly. Will definitely be back.
The Castle and its surroundings were beautiful. The breakfast was excellent enjoyed it very much.
What was disappointing was the facilities in the health and wellness area. There was no cold shower when you came out of the sauna or steam room. The hydrotherapy show was out of order also. And no cold drinking water out of the water fountain. The steam room in the swimming pool area was also out of order.
Also the room we had was a courtyard room so there was two ways in and out of the room. But one of the doors wouldn't lock because it was warped.
Just not expected from a 5 star hotel
Classy and beautiful property
Some rooms were not air conditioned during a heat wave. Fans were provided.
Everything amazing
Nothing
The Hospitality was great, a lovely atmosphere
My wife and I stayed in the courtyard room 154 and there was no heating on in the room. It was cold all afternoon and evening, we where given a portable heater which slightly helped....😤
We were greeted by Shea. He was absolutely delightful and very helpful. The rooms were clean, beautiful, and spacious. I will definitely return someday.
A great experience for families looking for that real life fairytale.
Staff were lovely - particularly Shea, who started our stay off in the most incredible way and instantly made our kids feel so special.
The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed walking through the trails and gardens.
Cancelled dinner after seeing the 1970 add on. No air conditioning for the price paid. Refrigerator not working, called and supposed repair still not working. Saunanot working, breakfast salmon inedible, pancakes from package. Business model for tourist buses but Harvey’s way better. Stayed at redcastle the three days before. Same thing. Taken advantage of. All employees great, owners are the issue. Trying to take advantage of any revenue stream while saving cost without thought of actual experience.
Was a con job.
Gorgeous hotel, excellent facilities, beautiful grounds.
Very good breakfast
We arrived at 15:00 expecting a smooth check-in, however we were told the room was not ready and had to wait an additional 50 minutes to receive the keys which was not easy with 2 young, tired children.
When entering the room, it initially looked very nice, however, when I went to open the sash window, I saw a dead bluebottle on the window cill which would lead me to believe the room wasn't fully cleaned before our arrival, this was particularly frustrating considering we had to wait 50 minutes for our room to be prepped.
We chose to eat in the Fr Brown Bar and both our evening meals were cold when they were served which surprised and disappointed us as we were very hungry and was naturally expecting first class food.
The staff in lough eske are comparable to nowhere. They go above and beyond to make you feel so welcome and comfortable! The hotel itself is beautiful with stunning gardens and the location is great for a base to go explore the south of Donegal.
It was very hot in our bedroom but again with the style of room and the fact the hotel is old it was going to be. There was a fan out in our room which was very thoughtful but of little relief I'm the hot weather. Not something that the hotel could help.
