The staff were friendly enough, breakfast was good, our room was clean and spacious and the pool, sauna and steam room were quiet and relaxing
We had to book here after ending up stranded in the area after where we’d originally booked had double booked us and someone else was in our room. We’re not golfers but this looked like a relaxing place to stay after all the stress of being left stranded. We spent a bit more to be in one of the loft rooms with a telly in the bathroom (after seeing photos of this on tripadvisor) as I loved the idea of chilling out and watching telly in the bath. I was looking forward to this and unfortunately the telly wasn’t working. Reception said on the first day that they didn’t have any right batteries for the remote and then on the second day maintenance tried swapping the remotes but it didn’t fix it. - a bit disappointing. There was also some event on in the hotel which we were unaware of when we booked and we could hear the music ect when we were in bed trying to get to sleep.
Great location, with really good facilities for business or pleasure at a very reasonable price point
It is a place I always trust and visit. I had a great stay this time as well.
Reception staff were lovely and helpful.Room was accessible and clean . The bed was comfortable, there was good hanging space, a safe, iron etc.
The room was very poorly lit which made reading and drying my hair difficult.
Using the pool etc there was no provision of slippers or foot coverings.
The pool was accessed via shallow steps which at 5ft 4 even I had to bend very low to reach. The disabled changing only had a low plastic seat with no arms and no grab rails except for the toilet.
Breakfast- waited 5 mins to be seated. Waited so long to be offered tea/coffee I gave up. I had virtually finished my very tepid food by the time I got it but that was lukewarm too so I made fresh in my room.
Overall a very disappointing stay which is sad as my friends and I had earmarked it for a 2 night stay in July but we will now try elsewhere.
Welcoming staff, friendly and helpful. The young lady on reception was bubbly, smiley and nothing was too much trouble. We went straight to dinner as we had arrived late and Joe looked after us. He was superb, really friendly, really personable, very attentive, great personality and a real credit to the hotel and company, food was 1st class. The room was lovely, spacious and clean. Comfortable bed and a decent power shower. Wifi is free and you don't have to sign in. Plenty of parking, lovely grounds and great facilities, although we don't play golf. Price was pretty good for two of us and included breakfast which was traditional and/or continental and self service, delicious! Give it a go, you wont be disappointed.....
Golfers, but we just avoided them ;-)
It was perfect for the one night we stayed
The surrounds were beautiful, really stunning and the staff were lovely. Really nice place
The spa needs improvement. Paint coming off the walls and steam room smelt. Just needs abit of TLC other than that lovely
The facilities, the cleanliness of it, the spa, the hotel room. All amazing
The hotel is comfortable and relaxed. The pool is nice and a good temperature. I loved the big bath in our room.
Staff were all friendly.
We felt the restaurant was over priced for what we got. Not sure how you can justify charging £8 for 3 little pieces of bread. £24 for a small piece of salmon, and then the only green veg on the menu - broccoli, was unavailable. My husband had 3 courses, I had 1 course, a jug of water and the bill was over £100 !!!
The staff were very helpful.
The breakfast was good
-Towels were changed but didn't clean sink or loo & left no toilet rolls for 4 days
-Didn't leave water in the room which should've been there as it was a deluxe room
-No hoovering for 4 days
-Quilt put into cover the wrong way and so we had to remake it
-Tucked in quilt but left pillows in a mess
-Kettle needed changing
-settee and chairs in room were grubby
-noise throughout the night from soft close mechanism which was supposed to be fixed but wasn't.
The views from our room were really lovely across the fairways. Similar view from the Grill Restaurant. The large bed was comfortable and the bathroom extremely spacious.
We had no robes or slippers. The kettle needed descaling. Every time I put the bath mat over the bath there were small cut hairs in the bath... as if someone had had a hair cut. (They weren't pubic, I know because we run a guest house ourselves)!
There should be an option to pull across the expanse of patio doors, voiles, due to being on the ground floor because when we were changing or coming from the bathroom (without a robe), we needed to draw the curtains.
The decor is looking tired. The chairs in the Fairway Grill Restaurant look like they need reupholstering as they are dirty, worn and look shabby. The windows in the restaurant were dirty.
The bar area, although it is used as 19th hole, the sofa we sat on needed to be brushed of crumbs and was shabby.
I write this as its been a long time since I was there last, and I feel it didn't live up to the expectations I had from my last visit.
Formby Hall Resort and Spa should be of a high standard and it didn't live up to that for me.
Don't get me wrong, we really enjoyed our stay, but I did find fault. I mentioned to the Receptionist on checking out, if our room should have had Robes and Slippers, and she checked and said yes. I am sorry and I will pass this on! I don't think that is good enough!
