Location and that it was a traditional hotel
Nothing
Beautiful location
Staff were miserable not once did they crack a smile when being served, Ben the bar staff was the only descent one that was outgoing and smiling and engaging with guest.
Was not informed there would be private functions all weekend even tho we had booked a year in advance, was only informed upon arrival, therefore unable to use all facilities ( garden as we felt like we was gate crashing the weddings ) due the the wedding guests being in the garden and main room, on the Saturday we sat in the back bar away from the weddings and the wedding guests and bride then came through to the back bar taking pictures so again felt like we was crashing it for them.
The 2 more expensive rooms we paid was were suppose to be the same however 1 was just like being in the hotel.
The silicones around the back and shower desperately need re-doing, the paint work in 1 of the rooms could also do with a freshen up and the other room has wood lice.
NO complaints with the rooms inside the hotel itself, only the external rooms which is ironic seeing as we paid more for these rooms.
Overall will not be returning
All staff was rude we had no TV in our room that works. The room is dirty. We was told we could not use facilities because there was a wedding going on even though we’ve booked over a year ago it was a very poor
Nice size room just very dirty breakfast was horrible just a waste of money we stayed in that location loads of times and there is much better places to say don’t waste your money
The staff were excellent, warm and friendly and very human. The garden is very nice
The building is somewhat less smart than we expected and the food for dinner was disappointing.
Ok for an overnight stay for organised party
Good breakfast
Bar service and function food could have been better
Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable
Nothing
Bed.....very comfortable
Restaurant...good food, good menu
Garden....good seating ,peaceful
Room cleanliness....stained carpet, filthy windows
Shower.....door leaked onto bathroom floor, shower fitting loose and broken
I was pleasantly surprised by the Riverside Hotel. The room was quite spacious and the air conditioning very cool. The staff was all incredible, from the front desk staff to the wonderful staff at the morning breakfast. I enjoyed every minute of my stay. I look forward to returning when work brings me back this way next year.
Location
Bar price ,
Often had to find a member of bar staff ,
Young bar staff didn't know what a G & T with a slice was then when told , ask what was wanted in the Gin ??
So they need a lot of training.
Lovely hotel in a great location in the middle of town, a friendly greeting from Julie the hotel manager who checked me in. Great rooms, spotlessly clean and well sized. Great value for money and the upgrade on arrival was much appreciated. The bar, restaurant and outside area are really nice, Carla looked after me dinner, had the chilli beef which was excellent - highly recommend trying it if you stay. All round lovely atmosphere in the hotel and quiet for the middle of town. If you happen to check out the beer garden, you might get a visit from Guinness, Julie's dog and the hotel mascot, he likes to greet all guests who venture outside!
Friendly staff on arrival. Lovely garden to relax in. Room was large however the stairs up to the room were a little steep but our choice to feel the burn in the legs after a 20 mile walk!
Nothing to dislike really, for the price it was absolutely fine.
The staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble.
Excellent breakfast with good choice for vegetarians.
Good base for visiting Lakenheath and Lackford Lakes nature reserves.
We were welcomed in for a late night drink by Julie, following a trip to Newmarket races. Friendly, great range of beers and a stunning Hotel. Will come back for a stay for sure.
Eight of us went for dinner last Tuesday evening, we hadn’t booked but fortunately it wasn’t a problem. We were well looked after by Carla who helped me sort out a gluten free meal. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed our time together.
