Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Chester by IHG

I booked a room for three with two queens and a pullout couch. When I opened the couch to make the bed, the sheet used by the previous guest was still on the mattress and the comforter was crinkled into compressed ball in the middle. Stopped the bed myself and had to ask for some missing linens to make it up.

Location wasn't great when we stayed in a room at the back of the building because the highway could be heard all night (which is directly behind the hotel). The pool was closed.

A lot of small defects here and there. Scratches, marks on walls. I think the bed could be better. Breakfast area small and crowded

Elevator was broken during our stay and was on the top floor. Lots of walking up and down stairs. A/c on third floor hallway was also off so hallway was hot. No ice machine on third floor so had to go to first floor and get ice.

The room door was falling off the door. We let them know. Kids were running up and down the hallway till at least 11 pm

Overpriced and overrun by children. The upkeep is lacking.The hotel felt more like a chaotic daycare than a relaxing getaway, likely due to its close proximity to Legoland. The common areas outside of our room were consistently unkempt, with wet floors from the pool area left unmopped and the same stains near the elevator for the duration of our stay. If you are traveling without children, I highly recommend staying elsewhere. The current experience does not justify the high price tag.

The pool should be 24 hrs

The fridge wobbled and was unsteady, at one point it was leaking water. When we arrived there was water by the toilet that appeared a few other times and was maybe from a leak? It was incredibly unpleasant to step in the mystery water in my socks. The shower water pooled around our feet and did not go down the drain even when it was not plugged or on bath mode. The pool was absolutely disgusting. It was cloudy (I have documentation) and felt slimy. Even my 7 year old boy got out because he felt gross. It was so dirty and cloudy that you couldn't see your feet when you were underwater in the deeper end. I didn't even put my head underwater and I made everyone shower immediately after swimming. We swam midday and afterwords went to the front desk to ask if the pool was always that cloudy. I was informed that had 'just turned the filters on' and to 'give it 4-5 hours to clear up'. I was even more disgusted. I was just swimming in a cloudy pool that had not had the filter on?! For how long??? Major health concern. We stayed at a different local hotel for one night immediately after our stay and our dry bathing suits had a foul odor so strong it was nauseating. How is this sanitary? Completely unacceptable.

When we asked about nearby places to eat, the sheet we were given listed just 4 restaurants. We found another one closer than at least one other on the list, and we were very happy with it.
