Your senior director Neil Patel was so warm, knowledgeable and helpful. We will come back just for him! Addison was amazing.
Nice room, very good concierge, very expensive Food and inattentive service. Isolated environment
My wife and I decided to go to there for our 30th wedding anniversary. We are avid travelers and I have been to 54 countries and stayed at hundreds of hotels and resorts. We were not familiar with this resort but we both enjoy golf and pickleball. Being from commercial construction and architecture, I am a perennial critic of hotels. This property bar none is the nicest hotel property that I have ever experienced. I could not find a flaw. The attention to detail was impressive.
Neal at the front desk was amazing and the valet, restaurant hostesses, servers and staff were amazing. Personable responsive and welcoming.
The property is in a stunning setting and although the golf course was closed for aeration the facilities were first class. Pickleball/ tennis courts were beautiful and they have multiple pools around the property including an adults only pool w/ cabanas.
With highs in the 70’s and lows in the 60’s it is difficult to find a place more appealing weather wise for the Summer or other times for that matter.
We played some of the local courses Aviara, Torrey Pines, etc. which are all within 30 minutes. Dinner or day trips to Del Mar & La Jolla were awesome.
Only cons that I could find, was that it was certainly not inexpensive, charging for the pickleball courts seem petty and the restaurant combinations should be revisited. Perhaps changing one to make the menu more approachable. We did not eat at the Michelin rated restaurant.
We just scratched the surface on our 5 day trip and will definitely be returning with friends.
Most grateful that our room was available despite us checking in 4 hours early without any pre-request. We just assumed to drop our bags and go for lunch whilst waiting.
Reception lady was amazing as was our room too, a Deluxe Veranda King. This room had a decent sized bath, separate shower, toilet cubicle, double skink and wardrobe in the bathroom area plus a bedroom area with super king bed, small corner sofa, desk and tv with lots of drawer storage.
In room steamer was great for ladies clothing - had to request an iron which was helpfully supplied for men’s wear.
The only reason for the 4 not 5 star review (I’d give 4.5 if possible) is the poolside and event area service. Drinks orders were forgotten on multiple occasions. The staff don’t appear to carry devices that allow them to input an order and send it to the kitchen or bar. By the time they’ve gotten back to the service area our requests were forgotten.
Stunning grounds, lovely staff and great food. Highly recommended. Would stay here again.
We had a great experience, ambience, live music, and restaurants were so amazing. We didn’t have to leave the hotel during our entire stay
The desk manager Anil was excellent and obviously very polished. He repaired and salvaged a reservation foul up that was no fault of his own. Great guy.
Only complaint is the surprise parking fee for my auto. $70? Parking. And 70$ facilities fee?? For a 10 hour stay.
Stunning property with outstanding service. Truly an amazing weekend. I really appreciate that they have an adults only pool. Will definitely be back!
Our stay was nothing short of fantastic. Although the grounds and amenities are great, it's the service that was the highlight. All staff members were attentive to our needs and accomodating. Ulrich and his team went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing time. We will certainly be back!
From the minute, we entered the gate, to the drive out, we had an awesome experience at Fairmont Grand Del Mar! I can’t say enough about the staff. Every person we encountered was extremely helpful and nice. Dylan checked us in and was friendly and efficient. When we asked for a different room, he was quick to accommodate us. Nok was our checkout person and very friendly too. We ate at Amaya and had the pleasure of having Vladimir our server twice. Bessim also helped take care of us. What an excellent team in the restaurant. The grounds and hotel are beautiful and well accommodating. We had dinner at Addison by William Bradley and were so pleasantly surprised that the hotel offered a shuttle to and from the restaurant. A very marvelous experience. Thank you for a fabulous stay.
Everything
Nothing it was perfect
An amazing property and staff. One of the best spas ever. Definitely will go back
My wife and I were celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary and with having the Fairmont diamond status we knew that the Del Mar would not disappoint. From the moment we checked in with a first class front desk team we were treated excellent throughout our three day stay.
Our suite was exceptional including the restaurants as well as room service. Shout out to everyone from baggage, housekeeping, concierge and servers. All professional and very personable.
I had an exceptional experience at the Fairmount Del Mar. Sarah in the spa was incredibly welcoming and recognized the special occasion I was celebrating. Jasmine was equally welcoming, celebratory and gave a transformative wellness experience. It was more than a massage. It was a healing g experience for my mind body and spirit. Kyoko saw me. She welcomed me back from my treatment and attended to my every need. I was so relaxed I frequently got lost as I was floating on a cloud. Ryder made my pool side lunch all that I could want it to be. With kind, efficient service and fantastic suggestions, this afternoon was one of the best.
Stephanie supported me in the gift shop and responded with compassion when I needed care. Thank you Dylan for introducing yourself listening to my experience.
I can’t wait to return.
I will be coming back soon!
Beautiful hotel and grounds. Excellent customer service and very friendly staff. We were attending a wedding and the atmosphere, flowers and food were outstanding. Highly recommend.
One recommendation is for reading lights for the bed. I took the shade off the lamp to read in bed. The lamp was stationary so couldn’t be moved closer to the bed.
What an incredible resort with so many activities. My favorite was the lobby music. An incredible night cap.
Amazing piece of property. First class all the way. Dillion at the front desk gets a shout out for going the extra mile
Wife and I had a tremendous stay. Each staff member were extremely courteous and helpful.
UPDATED: One can read a summary of my original review below, but after speaking with Resort Management, I was won back over by their concern. Mishaps happen, and for sure my past 4 perfect trips will not overshadow this last mediocre one. I've been to at least a dozen luxury resorts in San Diego, and if there is a better all-around resort in the county, I have not stayed there...and likely wont because Grand Del Mar's quality service.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: We've stayed at Grand Del Mar every Mothers Day weekend with this last trip being our fifth and likely last. The resort is beautiful, but service is now on par with a 3 star hotel. We LOVE the Fairmont brand, but staff interactions on this visit were SO hit/miss that at $900/night just not acceptable. Check-in and Amaya staff were 5star but Check-out and Valet were memorable for the wrong reasons. Hot water was shutoff without warning, the Ebike reservations are disastrous and upon Check-Out the Desk Agent couldnt explain was the "Resort Experience Fee" included. Upon check out I asked what does it include, to which she replied, "Thats just the fee we charge to stay here." Great last impression!
