This was an unforgettable stay. I loved it all, from the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed, one of the staff, Juan assisted us to our room, made sure we were well settled in, and he took the time to tell us about the exciting places we could visit.

Everyone was great and I am so grateful for the time we had. Thank you to Dylan, Ana, Juan and the super awesome servers at the pool. Too many stars to mention! And all the valet that made the weekend! We will always be back 🙂
Bathtub
We've stayed at Grand Del Mar every Mothers Day weekend with this last trip being our fifth and likely last. The resort is beautiful, but service is now on par with a 3 star hotel. We LOVE the Fairmont brand, but staff interactions on this visit were SO hit/miss that at $900/night just not acceptable. Check-in and Amaya staff were 5star but Check-out and Valet were memorable for the wrong reasons. Also, hot water was shutoff without warning. The Resot Fee is $70 which does not include parking...thats another $70. Upon check out I asked the Desk Agent what does the "Resort Experience" include, ti which she replied, "thats just a fee we charge to stay here." Great last impression!

The customer service was truly exceptional. Every staff member was attentive, kind, and made us feel genuinely cared for throughout our stay. The property itself is absolutely beautiful and impeccably maintained. I especially loved the soft music playing around the resort — it created such a relaxing and elegant atmosphere.
Both pool areas were stunning and had their own unique vibe. We also tried the ice cream at the pool, which was absolutely delicious! The lobby lounge with live piano music and a fireplace was also a standout; we loved spending time there. The food overall was very good. Breakfast each morning was another highlight. The terrace setting was beautiful, and enjoying breakfast outdoors made the experience even more special.

Came here for a coworkers wedding! Beautiful property and beautiful views. We were upstairs that had a terrace for reception and dinner. The staff were all amazing and very kind. Food was so good. Andrea the bartender outside was just wonderful. Very hospitable and accommodating. She went out of her way many times for us. My coworkers father used to work at the hotel and we were all treated so well and just had a blast. Will be back!!
Fabulous stay at the Fairmount Grand Del Mar. The property is impeccable, room was glorious and the service top notch. Better than the Montage, St. Regis, and the Teranea put together!
What a perfect experience! Dylan at the fri t desk made a huge difference in our overall experience. He found us the perfect room where we could sit outside and just enjoy the sun and silence. I appreciate his and the entire staff’s hospitality. Our massages were also amazing - that spa was clean and calming. Thanks to Dylan and the entire staff for a relaxing experience.
Stayed here for a business-related trip in North County San Diego and had an excellent experience overall. The property is quiet, beautifully maintained, and feels very private compared to busier hotel areas closer to downtown. Staff was professional and helpful throughout the stay, and the atmosphere was relaxing after long workdays. The location also makes it convenient for reaching Del Mar, La Jolla, and SAN airport routes without dealing with heavy city traffic. Would definitely stay here again for both business and leisure travel.
I held my bridal shower at the Grand Del Mar and I am writing about my experience so that other people spare time and money by considering other venues to host their events instead of here.
For my bridal shower my bridesmaids and I decided to do a tea at the lobby lounge of the Grand Del Mar. I have been to tea here several times before and it’s honestly a gorgeous venue. The tea is average, but I still wanted to host my shower here. The sales manager was helpful at first and offered a discounted rate on the room we were renting which convinced us to book even thought it was pricey. After confirming my booking it was pulling teeth getting in touch with the point person for my event. She was not on time for scheduled calls, took several days or sometimes over a week to get back to me on event details, she did not listen to my requests, I had to ask her several times to confirm my booking, etc. It was very stressful working with her.
My bridal shower (tea and salad for 20 people no extras) came out to over $4,000 when all was said and done. Only one server was dedicated to my event and although she did her best, everything was lacking. The event was 2 hours and I feel like for $2000 an hour, there should have been much better service, much better communication, and more accommodations. This venue does HUGE events that make them way more money than my tiny bridal shower, and that is how their service made me feel. It felt like because my event was minor in comparison to their larger events, my event was put on the back burner.
I absolutely do not recommend hosting events here unless money is not an object to you. If you decide to book here manage your expectations!

We were very disappointed that this five star luxury resort had horrible Wi-Fi. I was not able to attend a very important Zoom meeting for work which has had a negative impact with my employer. We ate dinner at Amaya and although the presentation of the food was beautiful, the portions were extremely small. I ordered the squash ravioli, and I had to look for the five tiny squash with filling the size of a nickel. I don’t mind paying top dollar for quality food at a resort, but the prices for what you got were ridiculous. The customer service at this hotel is outstanding, with staff going above and beyond for guests. I would definitely give them 5 stars.
Wonderful staff, food and service was fantastic. The IT gentleman Gaudencio helped me with my computer and Cash at the bar was wonderful.
We had a fantastic stay at the Fairmont San Diego! A huge thank you to Dylan, who made our check-in and reception process incredibly smooth. Peter from Amaya was wonderful, providing excellent recommendations and attentive service, and Jack was a total pro, helping us navigate the local area with ease. The entire team is exceptionally friendly and a special thanks to Dylan for all the last minute assistance due to Flight delays made us feel right at home. We can't wait to return. !!!
We booked a golf package that had 2 rounds of golf included. Fantastic rooms & service. We had a beautiful poolside room and enjoyed the adult relaxation pool. The only snag we had was with the included golf. For one of the rounds, the pro shop messed up the reservation time. They were able to fix it. However, my husband was not able to have a caddie. He said the course was top notch but disappointed about the caddie. We will definitely stay here again despite this issue. We will just confirm everything before we arrive with the pro shop.
