The rooms were large in comparison to a lot of others. The staff was extremely friendly and the breakfast amazing (also on the top floor terrace).
There is a parking garage direct connected and if you have forgotten something, a shopping mall is close by. Our dog was able to come with us.
It’s more of a business hotel in a commercial area. Our view was to the construction side of the shopping mall, which was noisy in the morning.
The dog fee is a little high I think. I’m aware that a lot of dogs might sleep in beds etc, but ours has its own bed we carry. In that one night she made neither something dirty neither had used something apart from water…
The Four Points by Sheraton Panoramahaus Dornbirn feels very much like a 1990s convention/congress center hotel that underwent an extensive renovation within the last year or two.
While the guest rooms and public spaces have been refreshed, the underlying reality remains the same: this is still a fairly uninspiring mid-tier chain hotel located on the far edge of Dornbirn with very little of interest within walking distance.
The location is perhaps the property's biggest weakness. There is effectively nothing around the hotel, leaving guests largely captive to the on-site food and beverage options.
Unfortunately, those options are underwhelming. The hotel's only restaurant is a bar serving burgers, salads, and other pub-style fare. Oddly, the breakfast room occupies the top floor and enjoys the best views in the building, yet the space feels like it was intended for a signature restaurant rather than a breakfast buffet.
The staff members I encountered were friendly and professional. English was spoken throughout the hotel and communication was never an issue. While not everyone was fully fluent, service interactions were pleasant and more than adequate.
Marriott Bonvoy elite recognition was inconsistent. At check-in, I was NOT offered a late checkout and was never presented with the standard choice of points, breakfast, or a welcome amenity. I was told I had been upgraded to a suite, but the "suite" was really just a larger-than-average room rather than a true suite.
Unfortunately, that upgraded room overlooked a very active construction site. The noise was noticeable throughout the day, and I was surprised that neither the hotel website nor Marriott's official booking channels disclosed the nearby construction activity. In my experience, most Marriott properties in similar situations provide some sort of disclaimer warning guests that certain rooms may be affected by construction noise.
I had specifically requested a high-floor room and was assigned the 7th floor. Given that guest rooms occupy floors 4 through 10, the 7th floor hardly qualifies as a high floor. It was another example of basic reservation requests simply not being honored.
The room itself was generally comfortable and appeared recently renovated. The television, electrical outlets, and furnishings all felt modern. However, housekeeping standards left something to be desired. The nightstand contained visible stains from drinking glasses, along with hair and dust. It was obvious that surfaces were not being thoroughly cleaned between guests. Additionally, the sitting chair had nail clippings and visible hair.
The in-room HVAC temperature was set to 26 degrees, which is 78.8 degrees F. To say the room felt like a sauna is an understatement. It took hours for the room to cool down to a more reasonable temperature.
On a side note, housekeeping appears to be outsourced to a contracting company because the housekeepers wore third-party company uniforms. They were not hotel employees. Also weirdly, housekeeping thought it was appropriate to clean the carpet next to the restaurant at 7 PM (19:00) while the bar was nearly full of customers eating dinner. Really? Who was the idiot that thought this was a good idea?
Amenities were surprisingly limited. There were no wine glasses, no corkscrew, no bottle opener, and no stocked minibar. Robes were provided, but slippers were not. The bathroom featured dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion, along with a small bottle of mouthwash. However, there was no bar soap, dental kit, shaving kit, or vanity kit. Providing mouthwash while omitting basic items such as bar soap feels like an odd choice. At a minimum, I expect a bar of soap in any hotel of this category.
The pool and fitness facilities are quite nice. There is also supposedly a spa. However, some of the outdoor areas show noticeable wear and tear, suggesting the renovation focused primarily on guest rooms and indoor public spaces while leaving other areas behind.
The biggest disappointment was the food and beverage program. A hotel of this size should have a proper restaurant. Instead, guests are left with an overpriced bar menu. Charging 19.90 euros for a mediocre burger is difficult to justify, especially when a Burger King directly across the street serves a better burger for significantly less money.
The Four Points by Sheraton Panoramahaus Dornbirn is largely consistent with what you would expect from a Four Points in the United States or Canada. In fact, it may even be slightly better than many North American Four Points properties in terms of staffing levels and overall service. The problem is that the hotel markets itself as an upscale, 4-star property offering an elevated experience. So, the hotel is setting unrealistic guest expectations. It largely fails to deliver that elevated 4-star experience. What remains is a renovated mid-tier chain hotel that is perfectly adequate but rarely impressive.
This is not a terrible hotel. The renovated rooms, friendly staff, and wellness facilities are positives. But mediocre elite recognition, inconsistent housekeeping, construction noise, limited amenities, and disappointing dining options prevent it from being anything more than average. There are simply too many shortcomings at the price point being charged. If the Four Points by Sheraton Panoramahaus Dornbirn had a better restaurant, higher operating standards (such as bellmen or a porter) and better housekeeping, it could easily be branded as a Sheraton or Marriott, not a Four Points.
Super Spa.
