Very convenient location with proximity to the harbor. Also it was a plus that I was able to leave my car in the hotel parking lot during my day in town.
Hotel could really use an update. Given the cost I expected a little nicer features
Everything
Nothing to mention
Nice hotel, great location. Ask for water view.
Beds very nice
When check in starts with the front desk clerk arguing with you over early check-in (offered for $75, we decided to pass because we had a reservation in about an hour, and he was miffed about that) you should know things won't go well.
I am well aware that rooms are not often available before the specified check in time, but I go to the front desk and let them know we are there, just in case, and also to have our bags store so we can attend other activities.
My husband and I returned at about 9:30 to complete check in and get our room keys. It was taking a long time for this, and the two FDC disappeared into a back room for quite a while. Eventually we got the keys and went up stairs only to find the room was already occupied!
Back downstairs, I informed them of the issue. They went to the back room again, and 15 minutes later, one of them came back and said we were getting a full refund because our room had been given away.
No apology, no explanation, just new keys and directions to the room.
We had booked a Deluxe King Suite Harbor View room for over $600 a night!
Instead, they put us in a basic two double bed basic room that overlooked the parking lot!
Aside from that, the good: great location for exploring Seward.
Meh: breakfast was weak. Watery eggs, baked bacon, coffee that was barely more than dark water.
Pretty bad: Took forever for the tap water in the bathroom to get warm, never mind hot. Water pressure in the shower was barely a trickle. The beds were like marshmallows. Yes, we used both - my husband is a big guy and two of us in a double bed is not workable. The internet was barely usable.
For $600 a night, even with a harbor view king suite, that's a rip off. They don't even keep the light on for you.
מיקום, חדרים נוחים, נוף לנמל
את ארוחת הבוקר
Location to the shoppes & restaurants
The fact that it was the port for all the tourists. There was people constantly in the lobby & gift shoppe and a line for the bathrooms right outside our door. DONT get a room on first floor
Great location. Helpful staff. Fjord tours start right outside the hotel.
Minimal amenities. Rooms bit dated.
My wife and I had a room overlooking the harbor – that was the best thing about the room.
The room itself was clean and updated, but the internet did not reach our room. We could only get connected in the lobby.
We talked with the hotel staff and even tried their premium internet - which also did not reach our room. While we are not on vacation to be online, we do like to have good access in the evening and morning. For this reason alone, I would never stay at this hotel again. They said they had recently added more network devices, but if they did – they need more. When we did laundry on the 2nd floor (our room is on the 3rd), the internet was fine.
The parking lot was also very small for the size of the hotel. It cannot accommodate all guests. Many people had to park across the street and pay for the parking in that lot. The hotel will reimburse you, but that is inconvenient.
The TV was initially not working. As it turns out, it had been somehow unplugged. The hotel staff quickly came up to fix the problem. They had to move the credenza to see that the cord was not plugged in.
The room had no drawers to keep your clothes and the small bench they had to place and open your luggage was way too small. It could not be used to unpack our suitcases. I wonder sometimes who makes these design decisions in a hotel.
They have pay laundry (3 washers, 4 dryers) that costs $3 a load to wash or to dry.
All of the above being said, my research indicated that this was one of the better hotels in the city with a king bed.
It was close to the ship dock.
The Harbour view was not a view... unless you like looking out your windows and see people's backsides. The lineup for the tours are right outside the windows so you can't even open your blinds... if you do well people can see into your room as well.
Our room was right outside the public Men's and Women's restrooms... there was a lineup in front of our room all the time so that was horrible as well!
Oh and if you want to watch TV good luck... there are 3 channels and the TV is like watching pixels.
The location to the town
Rooms weren't quiet, could hear noise from baby crying to people walking around the room above.
1. Location is great. I give the location 5 stars when it comes to the beautiful dock, being close to the cruise ship, and being close to Ray’s restaurant, which is the best one in Seward.
2. The view is nice if you get a harbor-view room.
3. Free shuttle to the cruise ship, departing at 12:30 and 2:10.
1. No WiFi in the room. You will get a WiFi downstairs in the lobby but there is no WiFi in the room. When I told this to front desk they said they were aware and if I need to have WiFi, I should go to another hotel 4 mins away and sit in the lobby there. Seriously?! A hotel for close to $600 per night without a WiFi in the room is a no starter for me.
2. Staff blames each other for mistakes and luck of training. We ordered and paid for a room with balcony and harbor view but were given room facing parking lot and without balcony. Front desk blamed AM staff for that mistake. Once they changed our room, we went upstairs again, but our keys didn’t work. It was just up and bags with bags due to multiple check in issues. Now, re taxi… When I called the night before to ask if I should order taxi in advance, the front desk staff told us that taxis in Seward don’t do advance order and we should just come to front desk at 7 am and they will call taxi for us. When we can at 7 am to reception, I was told by reception staff that none of the taxis operate before 10 am. We called all 6 or so taxis and none picked up. We ended up walking 25 mins to get to our kayaking activity.
3. Breakfast was bad…. Yes, it’s included. But paying almost $600 per night for a 3-star hotel with a bad breakfast is sad.
Good location
Close to Major Marine tours
No WiFi in the rooms (only in lobby)
Poor breakfast
Untrained staff that is disorganized and makes too many mistakes which cause too much hassle for customers (put you in much worse rooms that you booked and paid for; tell you contradicting things; etc.
I enjoyed sitting in the balcony overlooking the harbor.
Rooms were fine.
Breakfast was ok.
Location was convenient.
Yes, it is overpriced but everything in the area is.
My biggest complaint and reason for a 2 * review is that they don't have enough parking spaces for all of their guests or they do but was told by front desk staff that renovation workers were taking up the spaces. We had to park 2 blocks away and walk to the hotel. Others did too.
Location and staff were excellent
