Checked in during a major heat wave.was looking forward to the pool.
Turns out the pool was closed for 6 of my 7 day stay
Laundry was closed all week
None of this was disclosed when checking in

TLDR; Don't stay Here, find a better property.

We had booked 4 Nights here to finish our 20 day road trip from DC to San Francisco.

After driving all day from Eureka, my wife, our two children, and I arrived at approximately 10:40 PM, exhausted and looking forward to checking into the hotel we had booked. Instead, we were informed that the hotel was full and that we had been “walked” to your sister property, the Hilton across the road.

This was extremely disappointing, particularly as I am an IHG Platinum Elite member and had confirmed reservations. These reservations were intentionally split to provide some flexibility during our road trip, and at no point did I expect this would result in my room not being honoured.

Unfortunately, the replacement accommodation fell well below the standard of the Staybridge Suites. The room was tired, shabby, and has an unpleasant smell. It was simply not comparable to the suite that I booked and paid for.

To make matters worse, the Hilton’s swimming pool was out of order. One of the main reasons we chose Staybridge Suites was so our children could enjoy the pool after spending hours in the car. Having to explain to two disappointed children late at night that they could not go swimming was incredibly frustrating. I later found out that it had been shut by environmental health due to poor sanity conditions!

The disruption also affected our plans for the next day as we were required to check out of the Hilton by 12:00 PM but could not check into Staybridge Suites until 4:00 PM. This left my family with four hours in the middle of the day with nowhere to rest, despite having booked continuous accommodation.

This experience has been unacceptable. As a Platinum Elite member, I expected my reservation to be honoured or, at the very least, to receive accommodation of an equivalent standard without disrupting my family’s stay.

We eventually had a room cleaned in the Staybridge and checked in at around 12:30. We were promised extra points and a 15% discount for our stay, we have yet to receive either and im sick of chasing IHG.

The Staybridge suites its self looked tired and sparse, looked like it was not looked after. The room also looked tired and had extremely noisy AC. The aircon vent in te room was covered by what looked like black mould, the door frames and shuts were rusty, there were holes in the black out curtains, there was a net curtain missing, Fixings were hanging off the walls, the door had gouges out of it, the tap in the bathroom was constantly running, there were stains on the bed, there was a knife in the draw with mouldy food on it, The headboard was dirty and full of handprints, There was no plug in the basin.

The Corridor smelt really strongly of Cannabis, which made the kids ask what the funny smell was.

At breakfast we had to supply our own Orange Juice as the machine was broken.

When the kids went to use the pool they were met with a murky mess that looked dirty, i informed the reception worker and was me with a distant look and a generic 'maintenance will look at it on Monday' with no concern of the state of the water people will be entering.

The main reason we booked this hotel was for the Pool and Jacuzzi, but that was also 'Out of order'. At no time during booking was i mande aware of the facilities being unavailable.

The whole place felt like the management didn't care for the upkeep of the place, its far the worst experience and stay ive had in a IHG Property!

I stayed here June 7th, 2026, booked an 2 bedroom suite, and from reading reviews I should have listened to them. But I said let’s give them the benefit of the doubt the pool issues was a couple of years ago. But they seem to have a lot of pool issues and the pool being closed. My daughter graduated and it was her birthday so wanted to have her and a few of her friends get together and have a girls day/night while I supervised and stayed in the king bed bedroom. They told me pool was closed due to needing a part for the pool that hasn’t came in and they are not sure why that part is taking too long to come in. Ok they said we could use next door pool, great no problem!

We get all setup in the room I start running the kitchen sink water to wash some things off and started smelling something burnt and like rotten eggs at the same time. The girls are checking the rooms out and bathrooms, they noticing my bathroom the tub is filling up with brown water and that is where the smell is coming from. Everytime I turned the kitchen sink on the king bedroom bathtub would start to fill up with sewage water making the room smell. It was disgusting to say the least. I have pictures.

Then we have A/C on because it was hot the whole time the A/C unit was running it sounded like someone had the lawnmower going on in the king bed room. I even looked out the window to see if someone was doing some landscaping realized it was coming from the little closet that has the A/C unit. It was loud. I have a video.

I go to the front desk with my complaints she says I’m sorry it’s plumbing issues I don’t have any 2 bedroom suites available to put you in. At this point we are already setup doing some cooking so not really accommodating to move anyway. She says she will put in comments for manager to give refund/discount to accommodate for the issues. We don’t use the king bedroom bathroom at all. When checking out I made sure the complaints were addressed and she seemed like there was nothing entered in the comments and assures me they will issue refund/discount. I did book through third party so they said I would have to contact who I booked with and they will contact the hotel and the hotel will approve said refund/discount! I get an email from my third party booking and they said that they were unable to reach an agreement for any accommodation for my stay. Suprise surprise or shall I say not surprised! Through all the reviews I see it’s all the same thing going back 2 plus years.

The staff was very nice and helpful.

The rooms and common areas were cleaned.

The rooms were decent sized and comfortable.

Arrived to the location to find out my reservation was over booked and the had to send me to the Hilton in which they shared a parking lot with I paid for a 1 bedroom suit they said I'd have all same amenities I did not it was a studio no privacy from the kiddos the breakfast was horrible at the hilton as well so over all the rental man at checking was amazing the booking did however go smoothly but very upset at the price I paid to not get the exact type of room I booked and no advanced notice at all
