Wonderful resort right on the beach. Beautiful grounds and villas. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great location for seeing all of Sea Pines and Hilton Head Island.
Great property location in Sea Pines HHI. They are in the process of needed remodeling project and will be excellent when completed.
This is a beautiful property set in the Nature Preserve on the North end of Hilton Head. When arriving for the first time you need to pay $9 to access the area, not a big deal but we aren't aware of that. Part of the preserve has beautiful walking trails and those are only a few minutes away from the resort. This report itself is located on a beautiful stretch of beach with easy access and there are nice pools facing the ocean.
Our unit was beachfront and on the fifth floor and both the balcony off the living room and the balcony off the second bedroom had nice ocean views. We were in a newly renovated unit and although the decor and furniture were nice, there were issues: the appliances were old and when I opened the dishwasher for the first time, the rubber stripping had fallen out. My wife went to wash her hands and the towel rack fell off the wall. Most importantly, the elevator wasn't working! They were aologetic but a phone call in advance wanting of of this would have been nice. This occured in February, 2025 so if you have an upcoming stay you may want to phone and ask about it.
Other than that this is a great resort.
The Island is enjoyable but the property itself needs to be upgraded
Beautiful views and excellent staff. Very friendly
We exchanged our Myrtle Beach MVC deeded week to the Monarch, first time in HH. The resort is the oldest in HH and seems to be in the midst of a needed renovation. Our room was not updated and is on the smaller size than what we are used to but ocean side views, 4th floor. It was only 2 of us so the supplies offered were more than we needed. Get past the outdated furniture, leaky toilet, blinking light on microwave and odd light switches, the resort is beach front and very quiet and relaxing. Hearing the ocean from our 4th floor unit was much appreciated. No pool bar on site, a quick walk next door to Coast restaurant and they have a full bar and bites in a nice setting that is beach front. Plenty of chairs, pool options and even in December a full schedule of activities. Other than Coast and Fraser’s on the golf course across the way, you need to drive out of development. The Sea Pines community is large and we have found all the roads inside and outside of Sea Pines to be very dark, little to no street lights and windy roads. We needed a chill, relaxing week and we were successful, even lucked out on 65-72 degree days in December!
Marriott's Monarch in Sea Pines is The Best Resort on HHI for ease of beach access...especially for those with limited mobility, or families with young ones. The resort has all of the amenities... and a great beach restaurant just next door.
We have stayed at Monarch multiple times. There is a new initiative this year. Each unit has a “starter pack” of supplies, i.e. bathroom soap, dishwasher pods, dish liquid etc. After you have used that you must purchase your own. This is the first time we have stayed in a “high end’ resort where we weren’t supplied soap for the entire stay. One tiny bar was supplied for each bathroom. Definitely not enough for a family of 4. This is ridiculous! Of course, additional supplies are available for purchase, at high Marriott prices! We already pay high maintenance fees. This really put a damper on our stay. If you are there for a day or two, you are all set. If you, stay longer, not so. That is not fair. And no notice was given. We expected better from Marriott!
Marriott management will not give an extra small bar of hand soap for the bathroom! Nor will they supply more dish washer soap after you use the initially supplied 3 pods! For a week at the beach!
NO extra laundry soap after two loads for a week at the beach with a family of 4!
This is new this year and there was NO notification to owners! We have been coming here for 37 years! We will sell or otherwise dispose of this unit! Absolutely ridiculous.
This is a resort that we have stayed at several times previously and one that we had loved, but it has gone downhill. We stayed here for spring break this year, and our stay was disappointing. Rooms were nice, however, our building was having plumbing/water issues, and both of our condos were without water on and off. The one day we were without access for nearly the entire day (including for in all of the bathrooms). We have been MVC owners for years (and we are titanium elite bonvoy members), and we have noticed a considerable decrease in the level of maintenance and customer service in the past several years (since MVC broke off from Marriott corporate and became its own business entity). MVC management - please do better.
We arrived at the Monarch 4/6/24 - 4/13/24. We celebrated the birthday of our 95-year-old Grandmother. We called & spoke to NICK one week before our arrival about some challenges that we might have. NICK said he would do all he could but couldn't make any promises. When we arrived NICK had addressed all of the concerns. Vacations & Memories are rare & can go both ways! We are grateful we chose the Monarch. It may be older but it was clean, well well-equipped, & the service was excellent! From the balcony, we could see the gardens & beautiful water ponds. The location of our room was absolutely perfect! The beach is right outside the front desk area. It felt like a private beach, very clean & clear water and beautiful grounds to enjoy the beach area. We joined everyone outside for the Eclipse. It was mesmerizing! We stayed in a two-bedroom/two-bath. There was no noise at night & the activities were well planned. The receptionists were really helpful and friendly. Great staff who knew true customer service! Any negative reviews are very misleading. The Monarch is truly a Diamond In The Ruff & we will be back to make beautiful memories..
Great stay
Unfortunately this property does not care about loud leaf blowers disturbing people trying to enjoy a cup of coffee on the patio, hear the ocean, waterfalls and birds. Every morning before 9:00 am, multiple leaf blowers disturbed the peace.
Very clean and well-maintained, but somewhat dated compared with Marriott's Surfwatch, on the north end of HHI. Smaller than some other MVC 2BR villas we've stayed at. As at most, if not all MVCs, the leaf blowers crank up around 10-10:30 like clockwork. I don't know why it's necessary to blow every leaf away every day. I think most guests would rather have the quiet.
No notice before or after booking of daily construction impacting quiet enjoyment.
Haven’t had a vacation for years and we had just 3 days to get away. The doctor said the beach would be the most relaxing so we booked the Monarch.
There was nothing on their web page about the resort rebuilding decks and pathways, with daily, constant noise of drilling, sawing, sanding, grinding, and a compressor.
We were unable to enjoy any time on our deck or even go out to the hot tub or pool.
I am fuming. 😡
Very professional and helpful staff. Clean facility.
The unit is always clean and the set up is great. The items we need are there and there is not a lot of junk in the drawers! The closets are spacious and the bathroom and shower are luxurious. Thank you
We had one bad day when they canceled the hot dogs. I would like to have seen another activity substituted later. Rather than sangria with fruit they just gave the sangria. Fruit is what makes a sangria. When we came in December we had a cheese and wine treat at another of your facilities. We like that.
Check in is after 3 but check out is at 10am. How does that make sense.
