Algilà Ortigia Charme Hotel

The hotel and rooms were lovely. We had great bartenders in the bar area and everyone was helpful

Booked a superior double for 4 nites. Upon arrival, escorted across the street from the hotel to an additional building and given a room adjacent to loud construction noise/activity from 9 to 5 (see attached pictures) and a view of a porta potty. Impossible to be in the room during this time. Translucent glass in the bathroom allows lighting up the whole room when one goes to the restroom at night, waking anyone else in the room. Breakfast was chaotic and one must flag down the waitstaff to order. Paint was scraped off the passenger rear fender of the rental car under the valet's care. We regretted staying here and saw several better options on the island while exploring.

What a surprise!!! This hotel is just beautiful and our room in the new building was so spacious and comfortable. The free amenities were surprisingly wonderful - we fell in love with the brand of shampoo/conditioner provided. The staff were beyond friendly and helpful. The bar closed early on Sunday and the gentleman at the front desk opened it by getting us drinks and a snack. The areas to relax in are beautifully appointed and we enjoyed spending time in them. Probably the BEST feature is the location. It is perfect to get just about anywhere quickly on the island. I will be recommending this hotel for a stay in Ortigia. And book a tuk tuk tour with Apes tours - we had such fun!!

We were warmly welcomed by the reception upon arrival. That was unexpected, given that we had cycled there and were covered in sweat and mud! The reception folks were friendly and outgoing and gave us a map of Ortigia. They also volunteered to help us with any reservations we might need.

Our rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable. The decor was fine. The shower was large with lots of hot water and plenty of water pressure.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best we’ve enjoyed. The service was terrific too. You can’t go wrong booking here.

Our experience of Algila Ortigia Charme Hotel was simply excellent.
The reception we received upon our arrival, the wonderfully efficient and friendly restaurant staff, through every staff member, ensured our short vacation became a marvelous life experience.
The whole hotel has a great history, wonderfully decorated and obviously loved by its owners and staff.

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Antique building very well situated on the sea shore.
We stayed in one of the palaces, though we didn't have sea view, we enjoyed each moment when we entered the building. Our room was nicely decorated and comfortable.
The breakfast was the best we had in Sicily.
Te reception staff was very helpful with our inquiries.

We had a lovely three night stay at this hotel at the start of our visit to Sicily. The location is wonderful for exploring the little island or walking over the bridge into Syracusa. The front desk was welcoming and accommodating - maybe a bit formal and less chatty than staff at some of the other places we stayed on our trip, but no issues. They helped arrange our driver from the airport to the hotel, and also from the hotel to our next stop and they were quite helpful with all those details. Our room was charming - we upgraded to a room with a little waterfront balcony and it was lovely to face and hear the sea. The room was very "European" in style - comfortable bed - antique hutch for storing clothing, bathroom was pretty and functional with a few little quirks. My husband and I are both gluten free/celiac - the hotel was accommodating at breakfast - again, comparing it to places we stayed as we traveled Sicily, I think they were "ok" with this - nothing wowing - we asked for gluten free toast at breakfast and they brought a basket of packaged Scharr cookies/rice cakes, etc. - so ok but not super? (That was consistent with our experience in Ortigia as a whole though - we LOVED our time there, but felt the gluten free food scene there was somewhat more limited compared to Taormina, Palermo, etc. ). Service at breakfast felt a little harried - they were quite crowded while we were there and servers seemed somewhat overwhelmed with breakfast rush. The man who made and served coffee drinks was fabulous and friendly. It's a lovely hotel - very charming.

Beautiful hotel, very friendly staff, our room was exquisite! The best location we could have asked for on the waterfront with very quiet and peaceful nights. Will definitely come back ,hopefully!!
