We are huge dog fans here and selected rooms are dog friendly. Please contact us directly if you wish to bring your dog with you. A £10 per dog, per night charge will be added to your bill for additional cleaning of the room. For the comfort of our guests, please note we only accept quiet and very well-behaved dogs - should your dog show signs of aggression or is uncomfortable around other dogs or people, please do not bring them.

The bar and restaurant were nice and the parking was great. The breakfast and other food was good also
Everything was great
The breakfast wasok. My personal preference would be to have poached eggs a little less cooked. Black pudding and bacon very salty. Needed something wetter like tinned tomatoes as I don’t eat beans.
The room, the tv worked, the food was great and the service was good. The car park was extremely useful to me.
My first coffee machine didn't work and leaked everywhere.
My replacement also leaked, and I couldn't get it to work. This could be because I'm a 74-year old granny, but I tried my best. The staff were helpful but simply swapped the faulty machine for another room.
It would be helpful if you kept in a stock a supply of instant coffee packets for such an occasion, as having coffee in my room is a key factor in my hotel choice, and I never managed to get one.
Staff were super friendly, room was lovely and the breakfast was delicious.
Character property. Good restaurant and convenient for Chatsworth House.
Old property means that the walls between rooms are very thin and you can hear your immediate neighbours talking (complete conversations) and coughing and so not private at all.
The place is delightful and beautifully decorated, with very lovely, cozy rooms. The restaurant is excellent, so there is no need to look elsewhere for meals; the dishes—from breakfast to dinner—are delicious and expertly prepared.

The George was in an ideal location for my stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was very clean and tidy and exceeded my expectations.
I would recommend and would stay again. The food was excellent especially the continental breakfast.

Staff were exceptional. Room was modern and spotless. Great chilled atmosphere in the evenings and the food was superb and beautifully presented. A brilliant place to stay.
Breakfast was delicious with quality ingredients. my only observation was the waiting time . I realise the breakfast is cooked with care and in rotation which is fine but it took around 30 minutes for my continental breakfast to arrive. No major problem but maybe a little too long for something like that? Our room was also backing onto a staff car park and bin area. On the first night the bins were being cleaned late and cars were sounding their horns after 11. Bins were also being moved around in the early morning which disturbed our sleep, however I realise nothing can be done about this and it did not spoil an excellent stay.
Manager was extremely aware of his guests and did everything to ensure an excellent experience was provided

The bathroom was a bit small especially for a family room and no surface area for toiletries.

Dinner was very slow the first night. Much better the following night.
Excellent food for evening meal. Very good, spacious room. Plenty of helpful staff around.
Very long waits for food at both evening meal & breakfast (30 min wait at breakfast which meant we had to leave later than planned for our day's walk)
