The hotel is set on a hillside overlooking Lipari’s old town and the Mediterranean, so the views are simply beautiful. Although it’s slightly elevated, it’s still very convenient. The ferry terminal is about a 10-minute walk away, and from there it’s easy to reach Corso Vittorio Emanuele and continue into the lively heart of the town. The walk back uphill is gentle rather than strenuous, and for those who prefer not to walk, the hotel also offers a shuttle service at scheduled times.

This isn’t a trendy boutique hotel or a sleek, ultra-modern resort, but it is still charming. It has a timeless style that evokes old-school European vacations. The rooms are spread across several low-rise buildings connected by little paths and alleyways, giving the property the feel of a small Italian village rather than a single hotel complex.

Our room had a lovely terrace overlooking the swimming pool, and despite the hotel being well occupied, it always felt peaceful and uncrowded. The quiet setting made it a perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the island.

What truly made our stay exceptional, however, was the staff. Every member of the team we interacted with was warm, professional, and incredibly attentive. They seemed to anticipate our needs before we even had to ask, making everything effortless from check-in to departure.

The front desk also arranged all of our island excursions, and every recommendation was excellent. We didn’t need to research or coordinate anything ourselves—they took care of all the details and matched us with exactly the kind of experiences we were looking for.

Overall, Hotel Bougainville combines a beautiful location, a relaxing atmosphere, and genuinely outstanding hospitality. It played a big part in making our stay in Lipari so memorable, and we would gladly stay there again.

A lovely place in an amazing setting, with great facilities and friendly people
Pros:

The room was lovely and spacious with a beautiful garden terrace. We had the place almost to ourselves the first few days which felt luxury. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was amazing. The restaurant food was also wonderful. The pool and other facilities were great. It was very easy to get to town from the hotel and the setting was beautiful and peaceful.

Cons:

The mattress was on the harder side but not uncomfortable.

Brief stay in Lipari
Pros:

Close to main port/town of Lipari - 10 minute walk. Exceptionally clean and well maintained. Complementary pick up from ferry was great. Pool was very clean with plenty of lounge chairs. We had a water view room which was spacious and a large balcony to sit and enjoy the view. Staff very friendly and responsive. We had early morning ferry on departure and staff made up takeaway breakfast pack.

Cons:

Nothing everything was exceptional.

Pros:

A paradise on Lipari, staff, especially Giuditta, she recommended us how to fill our day activities and asked a feedback after them. The breakfast was delicious and the service was impeccable. The swimming pool was great the Lipari central street was reachable from the hotel on foot. The view was gorgeous as well.

Pros:

Ottima posizione, a circa 10 minuti a piedi dal centro e dal porto per l'imbarco per le altre isole. La colazione era varia sia con prodotti salati che dolci. Il personale è molto disponibile e collaborativo.

Pros:

A nice breakfast was served, and we enjoyed the pool area. IT's a short walk to the main area of town so you don't need a car. I went for a long hike one day and enjoyed the many vistas available just out of Lipari.
