The staff at L'Olio for dinner were very welcoming and attentive.
I really wish I'd paid closer attention to the recent reviews before booking, because our experience mirrored many of them.
We booked four Deluxe All Inclusive rooms for six people over four nights, expecting a five-star luxury experience. Instead, all of our rooms smelt damp, with two being particularly bad. One family member had to change rooms, while another was told the hotel was full and had to stay in a damp, mouldy room. We also woke up to unexplained puddles of water in our rooms.
The worst issue was the cockroaches. My room had multiple cockroaches in the bedroom and bathroom every night. Housekeeping sprayed insect repellent, but the cockroaches kept returning. The smell of the spray was so strong that I couldn't sleep in my room and had to stay with my sister. I have videos of the cockroaches. One member of our group also developed bites during the stay that appeared consistent with bed bug bites.
The resort was also overrun with flies. You couldn't sit by the pool or eat outside without being swarmed, and flies were constantly landing on the buffet food.
The all-inclusive package was misleading. We weren't told that most restaurants needed to be booked well in advance, so we were largely restricted to the buffet despite paying for multiple dining options.
The staff were polite and tried to help where they could, but a restaurant reservation and a complimentary Bali bed did not make up for the condition of the rooms. This was by far the worst experience I've had at a hotel marketed as a five-star luxury resort. I would strongly recommend reading the recent reviews before booking.
It was a mixed bag of a stay. The hotel itself is very impressive when you walk in.
The staff are generally helpful and very kind. The food is good depending on where you eat. The Pangea buffet was tasty and, with a little one, having that much variety was brilliant. Agave restaurant had the best food by far I thought. There are lots of activities for kids and the pools were great, with clean pool areas and unlimited towels. The rooms were spacious and clean. It’s a genuinely good hotel for children.
The check-in process is ridiculous. We were offered online check-in ahead of our stay, which we did, only to arrive after a full day of travelling and still have to queue at the front desk for another 20 minutes. The bookable restaurants on the all inclusive need reserving 48 hours in advance, which is very limiting. And the rooms smelled of damp. Annoyingly everything in my suitcase now does too.
There was a lot to like and a lot to really dislike. I don’t think I’d stay again, but for families with lots of kids it might be worth trying.
Parfait !

Hotel cudny, ogromy, posiada wszystko czego trzeba.
Brak
Usual Meliá standards of cleanliness and build quality.
