The staff were polite and welcoming especially Chloe she was brilliant so helpful, very welcoming and mad us feel special. It was a beautiful hotel and the facilities were great.
On our second day and they did not have the self service breakfast it was by order and we were just given the breakfast even if we wanted it or not, it would have been nice to be asked.
Friendly, helpful and welcoming receptionist - intuitive which is unusual these days.
Room quirky, open door and you go down a stairs to the bed and ensuite-bathroom.
Did not use spa, we used hotel as stop over.
Restaurant very good.
Entrance to hotel beautiful, lots of flowers growing outside, really pretty.
Steps down to bedroom. It would be useful to indicate on booking form access issue. It was likely to be the only room with this type of access.
Lovely hotel surrounded by lovely scenery
N/A
The bar and outdoor areas.
The bar and restaurant staff were fabulous
Reception staff in the main were rude.
As a group booking 5/6 rooms had issues with the plumbing. If it wasn’t a toilet continual running water it was a plug hole that wasn’t draining at all. The hot water was cold for some. The baths wouldn’t run. The shower units were broken.
The towels were tired. Some days the rooms were cleaned. Others not but there would be towels on the bed. Or the bed made but towels left on the floor. Cups sometimes cleaned. Some days not.
Having to pay to use a towel robe as a hotel guest for the spa was awful.
There were issues with one room where the room was not ready by 2200 on day of arrival. Then being made to move rooms after 2 days due to a double booking.
The bar closed for drinks at inconsistent hours and normally around 10pm.
Visiting family and hotel was in a good location for this. Pool and gardens were lovely. Receptionist always tried to be helpful.
Our room did not get cleaned particularly well...bed unmade, dirty towels left, hospitality tray of tea/coffee left unfilled and behind some furniture noticeably in need of cleaning. Also room was opposite wedding venue so quite loud during late evening...we did not expect this.
Location and gardens
The room we had was a loft room with an enormous bed that took up almost the entire room. Awkward to move around it.
Sauna wasn’t working. Drinks are extortionate and food was awful
The location is beautiful, direct view of the gardens from my bed. A very relaxed feel, although the spa can be used by members they were all extremely friendly. Friendly staff
It’s an old building so the walls are thin, could hear every details being spoken next door. Some areas are tired and in need of repair but everything was clean.
Beautiful, relaxed and well laid out
The big plants in the restaurant as were in the way
Gorgeous grounds and stunning gardens. Rooms clean and comfortable. Tasty breakfast.
The staff were not very professional. We called to see if we could check in early as we were going to a wedding nearby and needed somewhere to change and spoke to a very helpful lady who said we would be prioritized. But when we arrived they said no room would be available until 1 so we changed in the toilets. We then left and the hotel called us in the evening asking when we were checking in. We explained we were at a wedding which we had told them earlier and would be there before midnight. When we did check in the guy seemed put out by us being there, gave us the wrong paperwork and kept forgetting to give us a key. Checking out they didn’t seem bothered either.
It was very beautiful and the location and grounds were stunning and staff very friendly
the plumbing in our bathroom was problematic with cold water cutting out even after maintenance looked at it.
gardens and food
The room was quite small, no air conditioning and the window had no facility to open fully. No water in room and the towels were worn
last minute availability
Staff not particularly helpful
