Great staff. Great hotel. Was told parking was £2.50 with a voucher they provide. But on checking in they had no vouchers left. Ended up paying £15 for the day. Bit disappointed. But over all was good experience. Great location
Great location and as we had a sea view room the view was beautiful.
Bed was comfortable enough.
Water in the room and good selection of tea and coffee.
1 packet of biscuits...
Good breakfast with a nice selection of menu items.
We arrived for check in at 3pm to told our room was not yet cleaned and would be 10 minutes. 30 minutes later the room was ready. Whilst we were offered a drink it was not made clear whether this was complimentary. When I questioned whether we would be compensated for the lateness I was told nothing could be done but we could have a drink later. However the hotel offers a free drink for first time customers anyway.
The chairs on the balcony were covered in seagull poo. We appreciate this is Eastbourne but they obviously hadn't been checked by housekeeping. Replacement chairs were quickly brought to the room though.
Cream carpet in the room was stained and really grubby.
Shower head useless, needs descaling.
On the whole the stay was fine. The hotel must have been amazing once upon a time but it is faded and knocked about now. It needs a lick of paint.
Our room was very comfortable with a spacious bathroom. The hotel is situated along the seafront ideal for the beach, the Bandstand walking along the prom and into the town. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I found the key to our room a little awkward to use when locking the door.
Only one thing that was a little let down was the pillows was very flat
Friendly staff, comfortable bed, good breakfast, location was perfect
Not having the room we booked on the first night. We moved to the room booked on the second night.
Not being compensated for the error.
I am giving a lower rating as we did not get the room we booked on the first night.
It was very disappointing as we had stayed before and knew which grade of room we wanted and paid accordingly several weeks in advance
I paid and booked for a £300 per night de luxe room. What we got was an room on the ‘attic’ floor, an entirely grey room with grey furniture (walls and furniture grubby, stained and chipped) along with beige curtains, on a small window, that did not close correctly - not a single decoration or picture in the entire room. The toilet door did not close properly, the sink was disgusting - large cracks, smeared with filler, ingrained with dirt, the water pressure poor, so the shower was a trickle and even the toilet roll holder was broken and hanging from the wall. Needless to say, despite having paid, we left early and went elsewhere.
Very little, breakfast was ok.
Probably the worst room I’ve ever encountered. Grey walls, grey furniture (both scuffed and chipped), beige ill -fitting curtains and not a single picture or decoration in the room. Toilet door didn’t fit, horribly cracked and grimy sink (with filler smeared across), poor shower and even toilet roll holder broke and hanging off the wall. We left early, despite no refund.
The room was very comfortable and the host was very welcoming. There’s no need for air conditioning because the sea breeze works excellently well.
We stayed in The Chatsworth Hotel for two nights whilst attending the LTA Eastbourne Open. The location is absolutely perfect; simply cross the road for pre and post tennis swimming whilst Devonshire Park, and the restaurants and cafes in that area of Eastbourne, is only a short stroll away. For art and theatre lovers, The Towner Gallery and Devonshire Park Theatre are both close to the hotel.
We travelled by train; the station is in easy walking distance.
We were on the top floor with a great view of the beach and pier. Our shower room had everything we needed.
We try to use stairs whenever we can but I have to say that the lift is quite a feature!
We found the staff to be friendly and helpful and we would stay at The Chatsworth Hotel again.
Compactness of Hotel and comfortable public rooms
Breakfast offer a little disappointing - ran out of items and pastries stale
The room was of adequet size.
Breakfast service terrible. Pathetic table set up of continental breakfast items with poor avaiability.
Back bacon one day, scraps only another day
No evidence of any staff training or F & B management.
Room TV was a complicated setup, needed help to find BBC. Quite unsuitable for a hotel room.
It was convenient to walk to Devonshire park for the tennis
Very poor breakfast. Slow service. No Muesli or marmalade despite requests.
Water provided on arrival … 2 bottles but no more for next 2 days despite high temperatures
The location is perfect, close to the town, opposite the seafront and a short walk from Devonshire Park. The hotel has an air of bygone elegance from its facade to the stylish reception area. The rooms were great. Special mention has to be made of the gentleman on reception upon our arrival. Thanks to him we were able to change rooms to one with a walk in shower. Absolutely no hassle and no problem. Thank you. All the members of staff we met were friendly and charming. I must mention the young lady with whom we had a talk about the World Cup. I've booked a number of events for my wife's birthday and if they're anything like the Chatsworth they'll all be excellent value. We didn't have any noise related issues, unless you count my snoring. Both the cleanliness and the amenities were absolutely fine. My good lady has expressed a desire to return to Eastbourne for the tennis at some point and we'd be hard pressed to better the Chatsworth.
Everything was great
Nothing
The location was ideal, sea view room was spotless and very comfortable. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Good menu too.
Chairs on the balcony covered in seagull droppings but realise it would be an almost impossible job to keep them clean
