Always clean and beautiful! Marvin does an incredible job in the mornings getting the beach ready and is so friendly to talk to. We also love Carmen and enjoy talking to her. The grounds are kept so nice and we always feel welcomed back. I think the entertainment and events during the day should be less room charge and more like it used to be but we enjoy our time there and LOVE the steel drum band and Kareoke night!
The landscaping was very attractive.
Parking was limited. Housekeeping only comes by on set days and if you need ANYTHING on other days you are charged a fee. Our room has a view of the roof of the next building. A bright light was outside our patio so enjoying the night was bothersome. The beach is rocky and has a sign warning people of potential harm from it.
50 years ago we stayed at Frenchman’s Reef for our Honeymoon and decided we should return for our 50th! We were not disappointed. The rebuilt Frenchman’s Reef Westin by Marriott offered the same breathtaking views and customer service. The concierge was lovely to work with and staff members were helpful and kind hearted. The Edge pool and bar/restaurant was great, as was Luna Mar for dinner. It won’t be 50 more years pass without returning this time! 😉
Family of 4 with 2 college age boys and booked a 2 bedroom. It was quite spacious and wonderful views from the 5th floor on the top building (St John’s Bldg). The kitchen had a microwave, coffee pot, oven, dish washer, full size fridge and a stove. They also had gas grills for you to use. Getting to the beach did take 3 elevators but once you got there the views were great. Beach was smallish but private and we spent most of the time there. They have 3 floating mats anchored in the cove. Snorkeling just to the right of the hotel had some nice coral with a number of fish there. The pool overlooks the beach. It was not crowded and I appreciated not having to get up real early to get a good seat. Didn’t interact with staff all that much but when I did they were very friendly. I would certainly go back and stay there again.
Special and warm thanks to JUSTINE BELAVEK!!! She really went beyond the call of duty to help with our ALL our Hospitality needs and lots of questions of "Things to do"!!! Thank you again for assisting in ALL our travel needs.... :)
Great place
Clean
Great beach
I can’t say enough great things about Marriott’s Frenchman’s Cove!
We just returned from a week-long stay at this beautiful property, and we truly love it here. The location is fantastic, so convenient for exploring all the incredible beaches that St. Thomas has to offer.
The pool is a huge highlight for my boys, they absolutely loved the slide, and there were plenty of activities right on the property like chess and cornhole to keep them entertained. While the on-site dining options are somewhat limited, everything we had from the main restaurant was delicious. In fact, we ended up canceling some of our reservations off property just to stay and enjoy the resort even more.
The coffee/gift shop is also a great touch, offering treats and convenient grab-and-go items. It even had essentials like ear drops for my kids, which saved us a trip into town, such a lifesaver!
What really made this trip special, though, was the staff. Everyone was so wonderful, attentive, kind, and especially great with our kids. They truly made our stay memorable. I wish I could remember names, but we want to give a special shoutout to the front desk team, the activities staff, the bartenders, the security team that controls the gate, the groundkeepers that kept the resort looking beautiful and especially the pool attendant who found my husband’s phone by the hot tub!
We can’t wait to come back!
Visited during Spring Break, busy time and resort sold out. Property location is beautiful and grounds are kept neat and clean. Activities each day including an onsite shopping bazaar offered variety for both adults and children. Restaurant has good selection and when available will offer poolside service which was a bonus. Overall quiet and family oriented, would visit this property again.
we stayed here years ago .. staff had a major major attitude … hopefully that changed … slow staff .. entitled staff .. as if they were doing you a favor by serving you … never had enough towels .. not up to marriott standards .. maybe it changed by now.. hopefully it did
pretty views
Good size, clean.
I paid $2000.00 for a 2 day stay, for 5 people. Not even a bottle of water for the short stay only to buy it at the gift shop down stairs $9.00 a bottle. Then they ask you before you check out to remove the bed linens from each bed, put used dishes in the dishwasher and run it,also take out the trash. I SAID NO WAY.
Check in was horrible, but our stay was perfect. Clean room, every other day tidy service. Helpful and very friendly staff. Pool was wonderful, granddaughter loved slide. Lots of families. Restaurant was good, plenty of other choices at Westin and Bayou Haus. Shuttle service to other hotels makes it easy. Pool chairs filled up early. Fun watching cruise ships come and go. All in all wonderful stay.
To start with the positives, this hotel is very comfortable with nice rooms, decent Wi-Fi, tasty food, and a good variety of activities. The staff, especially those working by the pool restaurant, were incredible—hardworking, friendly, and approachable.
However, I would not recommend this place if you are on a budget, looking for plenty of space on the beach, or seeking a quiet environment to recharge. Food can be quite expensive—for example, changing chips to fries costs $4 USD, and a Double Stack Burger with fries is roughly $30 USD. The beach is naturally beautiful but is a small cove, so space is very limited, particularly during high season.
Overall, the hotel has many positives, but the cost, crowding, and limited beach space prevented me from fully enjoying my stay. That said, the staff genuinely try their best, and I do not dismiss their effort.
We were asked to do a timeshare tour and we went to the front desk. We overheard the front lady at the front using racial slurs behind our back….Justine is her name I would never come this time share presentation the front desk people are making racial slurs about customers behind their back. Calling me and my wife niggerI would never go there again.
Comfy beds
Distance to sites
Booked this kind of last minute. Couldn’t believe that a week was available a month out. We have been coming to the Cove for years- but we come in March. This was an unexpected treat! Water was warmer this time of year, and things were laid back. The chairs were available until 9:00! lol. We did a St John day, a trip turtle trip with Someday, and went to Lime Out for lunch. Dinners we had Smoking Rooster, XO Bistro, Longboard and whatever the restaurant is at the Westin. Do not recommend the Westin. We had some very casual burgers and wraps and none of it was good. Everywhere else was very good. Can’t wait to return!
The staff were extremely helpful and nice. They accommodated us in all of the ways that we needed them to. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable and the amenities provided with the resort were even better. Delicious food, amazing staff, and an awesome room/view.

June, 2025 Visit
- - -
My wonderful wife planned a relaxing trip for us to St. John’s, US Virgin Islands (just east of Puerto Rico), in June, 2025; we had a great time… such a beautiful island!
Our flights routed through Atlanta to St. Thomas, as there are no flights to St. John; you get to St. John via ferries from St. Thomas or St. Croix, USVI, or from the British Virgin Islands.
The need to route through St. Thomas, coupled with the wonderful visit we enjoyed in 2021, led us to intentionally stay one overnight at the Marriott Frenchman’s Cove, and we had a great time and enjoyed one a most beautiful sunset, from the floating mat at the beach.
This trip we enjoyed:
- an afternoon in the beach, complete with mai tais!
- Dinner next door… Luna Mar at the Westin (there is a third Marriott property on the other side of the Westin; two hotels and Frenchman’s cove is MVCI)
- Morning snorkeling
- Breakfast at the pool bar before checking our
- Fantastic views from the beach and from our room
- Great courtesy by the staff

The property

Frenchman’s Cove is built on a hillside, you arrive at the main desk at a the top of the hill; there are buildings at that level; the other buildings are built lower down the hill, and the property has its own beach. Each building had four or five floors and all have wonderful views.
The buildings are colorfully painted, and look great, especially when you’re in the water looking back at the shore.

The room

The rooms are standard MVCI / Marriott Vacation Club rooms:
- 2 bedrooms, one king and two full sized beds
- 2 bathrooms
- Laundry
- Kitchens with servings for 8 and all the utensils you need; refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, microwave and coffee machine.. with coffee available; just ask housekeeping for more
- Patio table and chairs with a view
- Note: if you leave the patio table unattended, you my return to find seagulls arrived and are some of your bacon while you were bringing out the rest of breakfast… :)
- nice!
Recommendation: bring a Bluetooth speaker for music.

The beach & Sunset Cove Bar & Grill
- - -
This trip we checked and quickly made our way to the beach; the day was sunny and nice and warm but not hot.
The resort has a couple large floating mars that are anchored; several adults can lazily get some sun while socializing.
We also had a snack at “the pool bar,” Sunset Cove Bar & Grill… which offers a good selection of good for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacking in between.
We enjoyed:
- afternoon snack - hummus and carrots & celery; and very good mai tais
- breakfast the next morning
We enjoyed laying on the big mats floating in the water… you get a tan and stay wet while enjoying the outside.
The night we were there, we enjoyed an absolutely beautiful sunset from the floating mat… so nice!
The room has a kitchen, but since we stayed only one night, there was less of a need for groceries… so… in the morning, we had a breakfast at the Sunset Cove Bar & Grill - it was a wonderful breakfast of steak and eggs and OJ… with a wonderful view of the beach.

MarketPlace - gift shop and mini grocery store
- - -
The MarketPlace staff is friendly and helpful; they offer pastries, yogurt and other breakfast food, spices and other good for dinners and lunch and a variety of bottles of drinks, many from around the Caribbean. They also offer sunscreen and other items for the outside; and souvenirs - shirts, hats, more.

The surf, the lack of on St. Thomas and St. John
- - -
We have been blessed to visit the Caribbean a couple times and have noticed that there is not much surf, not many waves. On an early trip someone explained that the Caribbean is just at a position in the ocean where the tides are just not very noticeable; brief internet searches suggest the tide only varies from a few inches to a foot or so… such small changes don’t lead to many waves.
You’ll likely see and enjoy hearing waves “lapping at the shore,” but you’re not likely to do much body surfing… if you have a boogie board, you’ll likely be better off leaving it at home.
