Lovely renovation. Room was quirky but well thought out. Comfy bed, sofa, fridge and coffee maker. Nice to have voiles/nets and heavy curtains. Portable air conditioner was a bonus in the heatwave. Nice view through to the terrace at breakfast.
Nothing.
Sun terrace good food breakfast
Location.
We are both in our 70’s but we were allocated a top floor room and there was no lift!! The stairs were a struggle.
Breakfast was limited with no fruit or cereal offered but only fruit juice and a good main course. Very disappointing and not too much to ask of an otherwise decent hotel.
Very attractive hotel, comfortable and nicely furnished. Great breakfast. Very good location. Treats to have with tea when you arrive.
Hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant. The dining room was really nice and the food very good.
We chose a 'cosy' room that was quite cramped, dark and hot. As expected in such an old building, the floors were not even which meant that the bed, though comfortable in itself, was at a very strange angle (higher at the bottom and the side by the wall). This made it very uncomfortable, hard to get in and out of (particularly for whoever sleeps next to the wall) and difficult to sit on in a room without a chair. Hard to believe that nobody has noticed this.
The location is central. The vegetarian sharing lunch is nice
The room was small, a bit dusty, the bathroom was small and it was impossible not to get water on the floor from the shower. A £25 early check in charge is a bit much in view of the cost of the room.
I loved the decor and standard of the renovation of a very old building - the decor was beautiful and everything was comfortable and high quality.
I asked for a twin room as I was travelling with my son of 30 , I paid for a deluxe room. on arrival it was clear that the pull out bed was for a small child and there was no way my son could sleep on it - he was hanging off both ends. We were moved to a twin room which was surely the smallest room in the hotel and with a very loud inefficient mobile aircon unit . As it was 30 degrees we had to make use of it ... There was no offer of compensation for the change of standard - as we stayed for 3 night at full cost I feel that a small gesture of a reduced price breakfast may have been offered and would have gone a long way to make the stay GREAT .... as it was I felt a little let down ...and as if I had caused the problem ..
Everything
No parking
A lovely short break away from home, we had the snug room, it had everything we needed, it was comfortable and had an amazing air con unit plugged in and cooling the room when we arrived.
Breakfast was delicious, lots of choices
Our room wasn’t serviced the first night so had to seek out replacements, however, the hotel staff couldn’t be more apologetic.
The room was on the third floor if you struggle with knees or hips.
Car parks tricky in busy times
the room was beautiful and very comfortable. loved the little chocolates waiting for us when we arrived- a real treat
nothing
History
Very hard to reach room 18
The rooms were situated above the pub/restaurant. The room was beautifully decorated. It was fitted like a regular hotel room, just enough for what we needed for one night. The location in very convenient in the centre of the town. The staff was friendly and we really enjoyed our stay.
