Staff could have been friendlier. They hardly spoke to us the whole time. No smiles. Usually in past staff have been chatty and friendly. Bit surly this time. Different staff. Room carpet could do with a shampoo.
Stayed for 4 nights with Shearings. Beautiful location. Comfortable rooms with nice bathroom , tea/ coffee and very quiet. What makes this hotel special are the staff. So welcoming and friendly. I had an unfortunate accident and the staff were amazing 🥰 I would abolutely stay here again.
Excellent for moves to the south. The staff were soooo very friendly and helpful, you really couldn’t fault them.
The hotel moved our room when the windows wouldn’t open, but saying that we still thought it was very warm

The room was clean, yes a fridge would be great but not many hotels in the UK have them.
You e got loads of mirrors and plugs near them for doing your hair.

Poor reception entrance ,never a 4star hotel ,rooms were dated ,breakfast was good but that’s about all I can say ,poor Hotel
The staff were lovely however we were on the ground floor and there was a lot of noise from 6am onwards so didn't have the best experience.
Noise from people moving around from 6am. Think we were unlucky with the room as I have stayed before and it was peaceful.
Disappointed with the Alona Hotel. Arrived on a Friday afternoon after a long journey for a one night stop over on our way north. Allocated a room on the ground floor, which was very tired and dated. We had dinner in the restaurant which was ok but the place was totally deserted. We were awoken at 5.15 am by a delivery van right outside our window leaving its engine running for over 20 minutes & banging doors. Breakfast was canteen style. Overall not what was expected and would not stay again.
Close to what we needed, staff were lovely
Room was very hot, stayed a few times and always been the case yet they don't supply fans. Didn't get a good sleep because of the heat.
Breakfast was ok. We were there early and there was already no pastries and they didn't refill. Food was very greasy
We also had to move rooms due to hot water not working but it was done quick and efficiently so not really a complaint

Its tired and dated, rooms smell slightly as you walk in, they are old fashioned now, carpets are dirty

The noise of people in the corridors is super loud
For £400 for 3 nights i would say dont book at all here
Had a lovely time with my young grandson overnight on Friday. Room was lovely shame no fridge or air con but we managed. The highlight though are def the staff. Aidan played 2 games of chess with Dylan and said how impressed he was with how he played for a nine year old. Wee guy loved the compliments. Juan the waiter at breakfast was just so lovely with him too and spent ages chatting to us both. Honestly they made his night and Juan has now challenged him to a game. Dylan can't wait to go back lol 😆 they made a wee boy really happy. We spent the following day at the theme park then family meal on Saturday night at yakatori. Made my birthday special especially since it was Dylans idea for a sleepover and spending sime quality tume with his nana x Great pressie

It was fair for the price
The stay was excellent. The hotel was spotless throughout form the rooms to the public areas. The staff, from the receptionist, through the wait staff, cooks and cleaners were exceptional and very friendly. The setting in Strathclyde Country Park is beautiful, and the entrance to M&Ds Themepark is under a minute away.
