GOOD FOOD, GOOD ROOM
THERE IS A PARTICULAR RECEPTIONIST WHO, WHEN WE ARRIVED ON 26TH, COULD NOT BE ASKED. ATTITUDE WAS POOR.
THE MANAGER WAS CALLED AS OUR BOOKING COULD NOT BE FOUND. AND SAID THEY WERE BUSY. THEY SENT US TO HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS INSTEAD. BOOKING.COM DID NOT SEND OUR BOOKING APPARENTLY
The hotel is lovely and set in a great location with nice views.
The bar was well stocked, food reasonably priced and a good menu.
The room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable.
Above all the staff were great. All very friendly and helpful.
Nothing to dislike
Handy to the motorways, yet quiet, restful and located on an enormous peaceful country park. Friendly too. Nice big rooms.
Staff were excellent, informative and always willing to help
Our room was quite dated, probably because we had a dog (dog friendly room). Options for eating with a pet were limited (if weather inclement); your room or the couch in the foyer.
Prima hotel voor onze tussenstop. Eten was iets minder maar ontbijt prima.
Breakfast was nice. Full selection to choose from. Staff are nice and its a good location for me to visit my family
Staff were lovely
Dinner was ok 1st night
Staff were great
No fridge or water in the room. No mirror by the hairdryer
Lunch on Sunday my aunt and cousins meal was ok - but the chips were cold. I opted for the roast dinner
Over cooked pork, undercooked and cold vegetables- only served boiled potatoes- no roast potatoes with a ‘roast dinner’ swimming in gravy. I didn’t complain at the time as this was a surprise visit and did not want to upset my aunt
Very disappointed with Alona Hotel. Booked a DBB deal directly with the Alona. Room okay clean and tidy bed comfortable. The restaurant very poor, window sills covered in dead flies and dust. The blinds covered in the same. Service for dinner very slow food average. The breakfast experience in the morning was more like a works canteen than 4 star hotel. Buffet style, fried eggs swimming in oil, no scrambled egg, I like crispy bacon it was inedible as it was so overcooked, pastries not restocked, no plates, (standing waiting on a plate while the ? Chef munching a roll in the kitchen) 5 tables not cleared from previous diners. I have had many buffet style breakfasts which have been so much better. I would not return to the Alona, it does not deserve it's 4 star rating.
Good location and staff very friendly.
Dogs are allowed but only allowed on the couch. Having a few options would be better to sit with Ur dog. The buffet breakfast was very poor not a lot of choice.
Easily accessible for motorway
Our ground floor room overlooked the wedding venue and the music went on til midnight.
Stayed before a few times and great location we thought as usually quiet next to park. …..but sadly not so good this time. The room window was broken and as there is no Aircon in this hotel it was stuffy and stale smelling even with a fan on all night. When the sun shone next morning on the wallpaper next to bed head it showed up loads of dust and cobwebs stuck to it. The mattress was very hard and well used so could do with a topper or upgrade.
Then as stated above room was not as clean as should have been and the 2 bed mattress in our twin room very uncomfortable. Not being able to open the window (as broken) in a warm stuffy room led to a bad sleep. Fan provided but as no Aircon in rooms it’s not enough. It certainly did not help that there was a very loud Prom concert on in a marquee in hotel grounds that night. Would have been nice to have been informed of this on booking in?? Could have chosen room on opposite side of hotel?
Good location with easy access, by car, to central Glasgow.
The decor is a bit outdated.
