The building itself is absolutely filthy and outdated/ran down, the elevator was broken, the pool was out of order and so ran down the water was green. The room itself reeked of smoke and mold, there were stains on the carpet and the blankets on the bed. The red chair in the room looked like it was pulled out of a dumpster it was so filthy. The worker that checked us in was rude when I asked to buy water bottle upon check in because we just got off a long flight told me I can’t and that “this is not the Hilton”
It's my third stay in this hotel and I like the location and relatively fair price.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other travelers should know what to expect.
We recently stayed at this hotel in Wilmington, NC, and it is clear that the property has been neglected for years. While the staff was polite, the condition of the hotel was far below what I expect from a hotel of this category.
Some of the issues we encountered included:
Large, obvious stains throughout the hallway carpets.
Extremely worn furniture with peeling upholstery and damaged chairs.
A red armchair that was dirty and heavily stained.
Torn carpet around the refrigerator with exposed subfloor.
Dust-covered air vents and dirty utility panels.
Bathroom fixtures with visible grime and mineral buildup.
Poor overall maintenance, including damaged door frames and trim.
The indoor pool has apparently remained closed since COVID and has never reopened, despite still being advertised as an amenity
None of these issues alone would ruin a stay, but together they create the impression that routine maintenance and deep cleaning have been postponed for a very long time.
Having traveled extensively in Europe, I can honestly say that a hotel in this condition would likely struggle to pass a basic quality inspection there. This property has good potential, but it urgently needs renovation and a commitment to proper upkeep.
I hope management takes these concerns seriously because Wilmington deserves better accommodations than this. Until significant improvements are made, I cannot recommend staying here.

Found a bug underneath the covers and too many homeless people

The location is near food and shopping. The pool is not in service. Breakfast was good. The rooms are nice and clean.
crumbs all over the pull out sofa. When we called to have housekeeping come and vacuum it, they told us that housekeeping was gone for the day. My son was completely grossed out he had to sleep on there. They need to open those and check. them
Internet did not work. Could not watch basically anything on tv.
And the pool is out of service according to the desk clerk , for 5 years.

It smelled good
There was hair all over my bed when I got there. They didnt have any other comforters to give me so I just got another sheet abd blanket. Everything had stains. There was a German cockroach on the floor.. alive.
The price was extremely cheap compared to comparable hotels. The location was also right in the midst of everything Wilmington.
Hotel was filthy. Carpets were badly stained, amenities were outdated, toilet was not able to flush well. Breakfast was also served starting at 7:00am on the weekends which is bad as I had to be out the door by 6:15. Internet was slow to the point of almost being unusable.
