Disappointing and definitely not a 4 star hotel

Nice location, otherwise OK
Pros:

Close to everything we wanted to walk to and see. Nice large room and bathroom. Great food at the restaurant and pub across the street, Matt the Miller.

Cons:

No AC, only 1 window which didn't help much with cooling the room but the fan helped some. It was a hot week overall so probably not as bad as any other more typical week. Bed was a little too firm for our taste. Large and deep bath tub was difficult to get in and out of. Breakfast was OK. Staff at breakfast wouldn't provide me with ice or cold water for my water bottle.

No peace, no quiet
Pros:

The staff were lovely, very helpful and welcoming. The location was perfect couldn't have asked for better.

Cons:

The noise in this hotel was unbelievable. At night you had the music blaring from the pub across the road. We rang to reception and asked for ear plugs which they had, and brought up straight away. This helped at night.
However in the morning, we were woken at 07:30 to doors slamming. All morning, any door that opened on our floor or the floor above, slammed shut, and the noise was shocking. It woke us up and kept us awake. For some reason it was basically every two minutes it sounded like a door slammed outside our door. As well as that, we could hear the guests in the room across the hall talking and laughing. They should be able to do this but we shouldn't have heard them - there was absolutely no sound proofing in any room as far as we could tell.
Really disappointed, it was €300 for one night and the level of noise was like we sharing a room with other guests in a hostel.
The shower was pretty grubby too. The bed was extremely firm and the pillows were so hard. No fridge in the room.
Very surprised this hotel has 4 stars.
