It was quite not a large hotel very quaint and very comfortable.
The bed was very comfortable
What a first class hotel! Aside from its overall atmosphere everyone we encountered was cordial and accommodating, from the doorman to the front desk to the room attendant. Each not just acknowledging, instead asking deliberately to help, meet a need, and make sure we had been taken care of. Everyone ended each encounter with a personal message. Clearly people who understand how to make a difference!
Beautiful historic hotel with many original details preserved
This hotel should have bathrobes!
Do not trust the valet at the citizens hotel in sacramento. They crashed my car into another one.Left it there for twenty minutes on top of the other car and is now refusing any kind of responsibility for it. The guy that runs the Val service is a real piece of work.
He will tell you that it's your fault for something. His company did to your vehicle. He will find any excuse in the book to blame you for something that they did to your car. They get out of it by refusing to talk to anyone. They were refusing to give any information to my insurance company.Their refusing to give any information to the police. Basically , they're going to crash your car and get away with it. This guy is sleazy, and honestly, the hotel is no better. They are refusing to give the video footage to my insurance company as well. The hotel is super loud at night. You will get no sleep here. Please read the rest of the reviews 2.They are bad one car got water damage because of the valley and they did the same thing to them. Trust them at your own risk. But they will mess with you and your car and then stick you with the bill.
We were here for two weekend nights. We like staying in historic hotels, and this one has a nice vibe of history. Unlike many historic hotels, the lobby is not that large, but there is a nice mezzanine area, and the early 20th century feel is definitely there. The hotel elevators definitely reeked of history. As with many historic hotels, our king room was pretty small, as was the bathroom. It did have a nice shower and large flat screen, and everything in the room worked well. Some of the staff were very friendly, but some were just all business.
The Grange restaurant in the hotel is one of Sacramento's most highly rated. Breakfast there was excellent. Dinner was good, but not exceptional. Valet parking at $50/night seemed high for Sacramento. There is an OK fitness room. The hotel's location is a bit of an issue. Sacramento's downtown is very spread out. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the state capitol, but it's an area with a lot of homeless people (although I didn't encounter any panhandling). The park across the street seems to attract the homeless. When we were there, they had a music festival in the park, and the noise was loud. But it was over at a decent hour, and was no bother for us. Overall, we're glad we stayed there.
Bed was nice, room size good
cost of valet
It’s 10 mins walk to Safe Credit Union convention center.
There is public parking across the street
The bed was uncomfortable.
I got a neck pain and my husband back pain the next morning
Room was not fully stocked. Need robes.
Need to pay for parking
The hotel has a great vibe with old world architecture styling coupled with a staff that is friendly and very helpful adding to the experience, but that is where the goodness ends. I will make sure I check the venue across the street before booking again. I was here for a Friday and Saturday night with both nights having a large street festivals in the park across the street and all I can say is LOAD....the hotel staff were even annoyed. This would have been something to update customers when booking because I cannot emphasize just how load the music and crowd were. Again, everything about this hotel is great; building, decor, staff, bar/restaurant, but the noise from the street festival very much ruined my stay.
It is a beautiful historic building, located at a nice location close to restaurants and the Capital Building.
It was difficult to get information during my stay. I had a hard time getting through to front desk via phone. In addition, there were no maps posted anywhere that told you where amenities like the gym were located. The menu on the TV was no help. No maps or info at the front desk, not in the room, nor in the elevator.
Hotel is nice
Downtown Sacramento is a disaster. Downtown Sacramento feels very unsafe and poorly maintained. The park across from the hotel is heavily occupied by people struggling with homelessness and substance use, which makes the area uncomfortable. There’s also loud drag racing at night, adding to the sense of disorder.
Wonderful, unique and comfy hotel! Love the old styling - just added the best vibe. Room was comfortable and well-decorated. Staff was friendly, helpful and added to the experience. Would definitely stay here again. I'm writing a separate review for their restaurant, which was exceptional as well,
The whole vibe at the hotel is great. It's very calm and welcoming. Staff was great. Shout out to Ludwig from the valet staff!
