Staff, room, experience.
Sketchy neighborhood after dark.
Hotel had all amenities and services expected. Adequate room service offering. Valet parking very efficient for busy location.
Hotel has a bit of a formal ambience for leisure travel. Works very well, but clearly focused on business travel.
Great location, comfortable bed, clean room and a very good breakfast. The staff was friendly and we really enjoyed our stay
Nothing significant. Everything met our expectations
The entire staff was very helpful and friendly.
No Pool.
I had such a great stay. The staff were kind and helpful. The hotel and my room were clean and my bed was so comfortable. I love the historical charm mixed with new features that were modern but tasteful. The location is perfectly central to walk 10min to the Capital Building and California Mueseum and 20 min to Old Sacramento. Highly recommend the attached restaurant Grange. Food was delicious and all of their staff were kind too! Love that they provide a late night room service menu.
Just a heads up, depending on the side of the building your room is on you may hear the one-off loud music from cars driving by. Also, this is more for all of the hotels in downtown, but I wish the parking was slightly less expensive. Tip: park your own car in the garage across the street for a $30 day rate vs $50. If a Marriott member the valet may be complimentary.

It was quite not a large hotel very quaint and very comfortable.
The bed was very comfortable
Now this hotel is pretty nice if you just want to go to tourist spots because it’s next to the rose garden, the state capitol and other places, but my family had booked a suite on the 14th floor. We arrived between 11:30-12:00. They said that the room would be ready by 3:00 which was ok because we would be at a birthday party- which was specifically why came to Sacramento for so it was ok - but they texted us that the room was ready at 6pm. Now it was ok because we were still eating and celebrating but if we weren’t we would still be waiting. When we arrived at our room we saw a pull out couch which one of our family members would be sleeping. We didn’t think much of it until we actually had to go to bed. We had called room service about three times by now and no one had come in so about one hour to 2 hours later room service came with our blankets sheets and pillows and what not for our bed but nobody actually helped us set it up so our grandma which was going to be sleeping there had to do it with no help, and she was really tired and cold so that’s another thing. I would like to give out a big shout out to Kaitlyn, which was our server at breakfast, she was really nice and helped us out a lot.
What a first class hotel! Aside from its overall atmosphere everyone we encountered was cordial and accommodating, from the doorman to the front desk to the room attendant. Each not just acknowledging, instead asking deliberately to help, meet a need, and make sure we had been taken care of. Everyone ended each encounter with a personal message. Clearly people who understand how to make a difference!
Beautiful historic hotel with many original details preserved
This hotel should have bathrobes!
Do not trust the valet at the citizens hotel in sacramento. They crashed my car into another one.Left it there for twenty minutes on top of the other car and is now refusing any kind of responsibility for it. The guy that runs the Val service is a real piece of work.
He will tell you that it's your fault for something. His company did to your vehicle. He will find any excuse in the book to blame you for something that they did to your car. They get out of it by refusing to talk to anyone. They were refusing to give any information to my insurance company.Their refusing to give any information to the police. Basically , they're going to crash your car and get away with it. This guy is sleazy, and honestly, the hotel is no better. They are refusing to give the video footage to my insurance company as well. The hotel is super loud at night. You will get no sleep here. Please read the rest of the reviews 2.They are bad one car got water damage because of the valley and they did the same thing to them. Trust them at your own risk. But they will mess with you and your car and then stick you with the bill.
We were here for two weekend nights. We like staying in historic hotels, and this one has a nice vibe of history. Unlike many historic hotels, the lobby is not that large, but there is a nice mezzanine area, and the early 20th century feel is definitely there. The hotel elevators definitely reeked of history. As with many historic hotels, our king room was pretty small, as was the bathroom. It did have a nice shower and large flat screen, and everything in the room worked well. Some of the staff were very friendly, but some were just all business.
The Grange restaurant in the hotel is one of Sacramento's most highly rated. Breakfast there was excellent. Dinner was good, but not exceptional. Valet parking at $50/night seemed high for Sacramento. There is an OK fitness room. The hotel's location is a bit of an issue. Sacramento's downtown is very spread out. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the state capitol, but it's an area with a lot of homeless people (although I didn't encounter any panhandling). The park across the street seems to attract the homeless. When we were there, they had a music festival in the park, and the noise was loud. But it was over at a decent hour, and was no bother for us. Overall, we're glad we stayed there.
Bed was nice, room size good
