Clean room but felt cramped
In the hotel if the facilties and all the rooms matched the staff and their effort to provide a good service it could be a better place to stay
Praise to the staff
No stand up shower over bath
Room next to passage door which was noisy when people passing to get to other rooms
Although we booked at same time and same standard of rooms one of us given superior room on a different floor would of been nicer to be closer
Resturant lacked atmosphere and food was not up to standard could do with updating
Breakfast buffet choice was poor but cooked choices lot better

Location on river Bank
There was not a shower cubicle just hand held shower over bath
Beautiful location on River Waveney and only a short walk into Beccles. Lovely conservatory and veranda overlooking river. Wonderful breakfast served with a smile. Excellent room and lovely en suite.
Only one small niggle. No water bottles provided in room but that would be nit picking.

We had a lovely stay at the Waveney.
The staff were very friendly & helpful.

Lovely location, and having spoken to the hotel in advance, the room was exactly what was required for an overnight stay. Dinner and breakfast were good.

Check in process was slow and a bit complex.
What a gem of a hotel in a lovely location. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming; we loved having a drink by the river and our room was cosy and well equipped.
Ideally, we would have liked a proper shower - and we felt one could have been created using a screen over the bath. But we knew we only had a bath when we booked the room so tolerated it. The person next door kept slamming the door to their room, but that was out of the control of the hotel. Maybe the mattresses could do with being replaced.
Location and comfortable
No lift
On arrival we received a warm welcome. Brilliant location by the river. Dinner was delicious. Jordan our waiter was excellent. Service with a lovely smile is always appreciated. Substantial breakfast too.

The only point I would make, I was left waiting at reception on arrival for around ten mins whilst staff were discussing a system issue in the office. I was in a rush to get washed changed and back out for an event. It’s a minor point though
The rooms are very cosy and comfortable with everything you need for a short break. The restaurant is great for Lunch and Dinner, with a wide range of food and drinks. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Location is excellent for Beccles Town Centre and The Waveney.
Room 11 is directly over the kitchen and the extractors are very loud and started for Breakfast service at 6:30am on weekdays and 7:30 on the Saturday morning. The windows are not double glazed due to the historic nature of the building and are therefore not soundproof.
All the rooms are on the 1st and 2nd floors and there is no lift, but we did know that when booking. Just something to bear in mind if you have accessibility needs.
Breakfast wasn't as well presented as the previous year. Fried Egg had a bit of Eggshell in and Black Pudding had a speck of Scrambled Egg on it when I'd ordered Fried but very minor issues. Dinner and desserts in the restaurant were still excellent.
This place is amazing, you can have breakfast looking out on the water and it's super cosy! Recommend to anyone!
Slow service for breakfast but just make time for it as it's worth it!
