We truly wish we could have stayed longer! Our experience was wonderful from start to finish. We enjoyed dinner at the h
Pros:

The incredible lake and mountains view, cleanliness of the entire apartment and love how they have filtered drinking water system installed in the kitchen. Love the fireplace in the living room. And the balconies!!

Cons:

The TV being on the side of the living room. We do love the fireplace though. We just had a little hard time memorizing the in room dinning menu when calling from the other side of the room to place the order.

Pros:

Location, views, wonderfully appointed apartment. Staff that we dealt with were attentive and excellent!

Cons:

The cleaning was lacking. Basins weren’t wiped over during our stay - bathrooms weren’t cleaned properly as a whole. Only our towels were replaced. For the cost, this should be considered. One day our cleaner didn’t come until 4pm. The cleaning aspect needs a bit of improvement given the cost during the peak season. This does not take away from all the wonderful parts of the hotel, however! Just some feedback for quality improvement.

Disappointing. We didn’t want to dine there because of the above warning signs.
Pros:

The reception area

Cons:

The shuttle service not being avail 3 times when I tried to book. Initially not being told I needed to book.
Having to contact reception every day and ask for milk (when housekeeping can see there’s none). Doesn’t matter that this was disclosed.
Requesting a blanket- no one came. Had to ask again the next night.
Access via the car park and view wasn’t consistent with my previous stay (also a 2br lake view apartment).

Cons:

I stayed at The Rees Hotel Queenstown with high expectations, especially because this trip was meant to be a special occasion. Unfortunately, the experience was far below what I expected from a hotel of this standard and price.

The biggest issue was the lack of comfort and proper service on our first night. The heating/air conditioning in our room did not work properly, and we were left waiting for several hours in cold weather while the issue remained unresolved. We were eventually moved to another room late at night, but by then the evening had already been disrupted. After travelling and arriving at the hotel expecting a comfortable and relaxing stay, having to deal with a cold room and repeated delays was very disappointing.

Another major disappointment was the birthday arrangement. I had confirmed the details with the hotel in the morning, but the setup was still not properly handled on time. Instead of receiving a smooth and thoughtful service, we had to keep checking and following up ourselves. The wine was also unclear, and when I asked about it, I did not feel that staff provided a clear or proactive solution. I was repeatedly asked to check things myself, which made the whole experience feel stressful rather than special.

What disappointed me most was not only that these problems happened, but the way they were handled. The response felt passive and insufficient for a hotel of this level. The compensation offered, such as waiving the wine charge, did not really address the inconvenience, the lost time, or the emotional impact of the evening. This was supposed to be a memorable stay, but instead it became frustrating and upsetting.

I understand that mistakes can happen, but guests should not have to repeatedly chase staff for updates or solutions, especially when paying for a premium hotel experience. I expected better communication, more initiative, and a more sincere effort to make the situation right.
