Important information:

Swim caps are needed to enter the pool and can be purchased in the leisure centre for EUR 3.

Children under the age of 15 are not permitted in the bar after 21:00 and are not allowed after 22:00 from May to September.

Please note that, for health and safety reasons, the property will accommodate only the number of guests specified in the booking confirmation.

Please note that the leisure centre is open from Monday to Thursday from 05:45 to 21:00, on Fridays from 05:45 to 20:00, on Saturdays and Sundays from 08:00 to 19:00, and on bank holidays from 08:00 to 20:00.

The fitness centre, pool and Spa areas close 15 minutes prior to the closing times noted above and all members are asked to be mindful of the need to vacate the club’s changing rooms before closing time.

There is a frequent bus service to Galway city centre from outside the hotel.


For security and fraud purposes, guests are required to present the same valid credit card used to guarantee the reservation, and a valid government-issued photo identification (passport or driver's licence) that matches the name on the credit card. Both the credit card and the identification must be presented by the registered guest at check-in.
If a guest is unable or unwilling to present the required credit card and matching photo identification upon arrival, Claregalway Hotel reserves the right to refuse check-in and cancel the reservation.
In such circumstances, the reservation will be treated in accordance with the applicable booking terms and cancellation policy, and any applicable charges may still apply. We do not accept cash payments on reception desk. Please be advised also that we do not accept American Express Card


For bookings of 5 bedrooms or more, or stays of 5 nights or more, a 50% deposit is required within 7 days of making the reservation, and a full non-refundable payment is required 6 weeks in advance of arrival.

For bookings made during the Galway Races, you will be contacted by hotel staff regarding deposit payment.

Please note that the kids' club is not available during Galway Race Week.

A breakfast surcharge, equal to the adult breakfast rate, applies to children aged 13 years or older.

Comfy Stay for 5
Pros:

We were a family of 5pax with young kids and the room we had slept all 5 guests, each on their own bed. So we really had a very comfortable stay. The room was large and very roomy. Plenty of space to spread out. Shower pressure was great. We didnt get to utilise the other facilities so we cant comment. Overall, a great overnight stay near Galway.

Cons:

We did get a very early morning fire alarm due to someone having a very very misty shower that can apparently trigger the alarm. Bottled water was provided. Also, for a 4 star hotel they should provide toothbrush + toothpaste etc.

Pool area. Water very cloudy. Switch for jacuzzi rusty. Changing areas need some tlc.
Stair carpet in main reception area needs a good steam clean or replacing. First thing you see on entering.

Pros:

The restaurant was the best part of our stay. The food was excellent, very tasty and well prepared. We really enjoyed our meal and have nothing negative to say about the restaurant.

Cons:

The day before our arrival, I contacted the hotel to ask if we could check in around 2:00 PM instead of 4:00 PM, as we were travelling with a 5-year-old child. I was told that the request would be passed on to reception, but I never received a clear confirmation. We arrived early and ended up waiting in the car with our child until around 3:45 PM.

One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was because of the beautiful photos on Booking, especially the room with the impressive bathroom and bathtub. However, the room we received was very simple, with a small bathroom, and looked nothing like what I expected from the photos.

When I asked at reception, I was told that the room from the photos was a Presidential Suite. I offered to pay the difference and upgrade, but was told that it was already occupied and unavailable.

The swimming pool was also disappointing. When we arrived, swimming lessons for children were taking place, with parents around the pool. It felt more like a local swimming centre than a relaxing hotel pool.

Unfortunately, based on our experience, I would not return to this hotel and would not recommend it for a relaxing family stay.
