Decent spot to stay for a layover or short stay
Pros:

Convenient room for a night stay if you need to get back to Heathrow from a longer layover. The room has a good bed and a TV if needed along with a tea set and air conditioning. It's a simple and decent room if you are planning to go places and have a place to come back for the night as well. The area was great, right next to River Thames and a big shopping center called Two Rivers which gathers a lot of visitors when open. Also a nice park a short walk away, and if you just want a small taste of England, the atmosphere felt very nice. I'd have gone to London if I had more time but Staines was a lovely alternative.

Cons:

Long hallways to get to your room and the overall cleanliness felt okay but not pristine. It wasn't dirty, just not clean.

Pros:

The location of the hotel was great as it was near the train station and shops. The bed was very comfortable and the check in was super easy.

Cons:

The bathroom door didn't lock and the tap was incredibly squeaky.

Great location, good vfm, poor bar, airconditioning and breakfast
Pros:

The location on the River Thames is excellent with seating by the river ideal for evening drinks and breakfast. The price of the rooms in this location represented good value for money. No evening dinner option was not a problem as many restaurants and pubs ar ein easy walking distance in the delightful town centre.

Cons:

Lack of air conditioning in the bedroom was disadvantageous, especially during the summer 2026 heatwave.
The bar shut early and refused to serve four of us at c.22:30 even though we were residents, very disappointing.
Breakfast was a crush due to a large coach party which remained long after our advised 08:00 start. What cooked breakfast that remained was old and tired.

Not great
Pros:

Location

Cons:

I was told there would be centralised aircon there was not. The fan was broken I requested another I was refused and I was told the people on the top floor were hot and they need the fans. The room was dirty, uncomfortable absolutely unbearably hot, toilet was rotting. Dust everywhere.

Disgusting
Pros:

Vile ....avoid at all costs. Our room was filthy , smelly and hot ! The room smelt dirty and old. There was even dust on the soap dispenser in the bathroom .... which it's self was disgusting, water marks all over the celling and dirty shower and bath. I asked for a refund today , but this wasn't possible as we have to contact the head office !!
One last point the pictures of the hotel have been photo shopped the pictures do not reflect reality !

Cons:

Branding doesn't make it clear the hotel is called Thames Lodge. Expensive parking. Room not fully made up, eg, duvet and kettle were in cupboards. Worked as sheet was enough in the heat.

AWFUL AVOID
Pros:

I am extremely disappointed with my stay. From the moment we arrived, everything seemed to go wrong.

We arrived at around 9pm after an exhausting journey due to multiple train cancellations and delays. After finally getting to the hotel, we walked into a room that felt like an oven. In 32°C weather, there were no windows open, no fan running, and nothing had been done to make the room comfortable for guests despite the extreme heat.

The room itself was also very disappointing. It looked nothing like the photos advertised. The kettle was broken, one of the lights didn’t work, and the overall condition of the room was poor. Cracks all on the walls also

To make matters worse, there was nowhere to keep drinks or medication cold. There was no fridge in the room, no communal fridge available, and even the bar had no ice available for guests. During such extreme temperatures, I find this completely unacceptable. The water they did have for guests was tap water and hot as was sitting on a ledge by a window in this heat.

The customer service has been equally poor. The staff were unhelpful and came across as rude whenever I asked for assistance. When I requested the manager’s email address to raise my concerns, I actually had to argue with the receptionist before they would provide it. As a paying customer, I should not have to fight simply to contact management.

Overall, this has been one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. The lack of basic facilities, poor maintenance, and disappointing customer service have completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable stay. I would not recommend this hotel and certainly would not stay here again.

Awful
Pros:

I liked the fact it had a terrace for drinks on the waters edge which was in the sun - near to the town for anything needed

Cons:

the hotel needs a refurb, chipped dull paint everywhere, no adding drinks or anything to the room it all had to be paid including parking for 24 hours - sheets had blood stained on them and had to ask to change it - balcony is shared so you can't have the doors open overnight as the next room shares it, plus absolutely filthy defo not hoovered let alone washed down ( shared balcony isn't mentioned anywhere when booking or at the hotel ) only one lot of towels in room and one teabag, no bottled water - very basic .. rooms very dark so had to have lights on all the time and cannot see the river even tho a river view due to trees, no air con altho it does have the grills for it so just a basic fan, I took a mini fridge for meds and I got there an 3/4 hour before check in and asked could I just plug the fridge in for meds ( hottest day that day and stuck on m25) was told room was ready and it's an extra £15 ... was later told by someone else I shudnt have be charged due to it being ready anyway ... woman on reception blunt and rude, didn't want to help at all - overall so disappointed I'd booked for a week for partners work access and we left after a day, rung the complaints line and to date not heard anything back at all .. the basic hotels are much better than this one - they don't seem to care at all about customer service
