We have been staying at this Hotel over the last 12 Years, We have stayed in many rooms at this Hotel.
The location is spot on for when you visit York, close walk to all the shops, restaurants and castle etc.
The building itself is Beautiful, Staff are always friendly and some go above and beyond to make your stay a nice and enjoyable one.
They have a restaurant and Bar that is helpful, you can also order room service, even take your dog here if you want to.
Going off past experience the food is not as good as it once was, the lack of choices or was not available let it down. But for me was the room. They need updating, the sockets in our room didn't work or were just faulty. We did mention this to the staff who said they would get somebody to look at it. The bathroom, Bath's seem neglected, worn and tired. I am always excited for a claw bath, the bathroom had seen better days.
The bed was uncomfortable as they use two single beds and but them together to make the bed bigger, for me it didn't make the bed comfy.
We stayed in the Junior Suite and for what we paid, i do not think was worth it. Not the first time the Room let us down but the food was so good last time. So gave this time a chance. I don't know about anybody else who has stayed at the hotel over the years but this last experience really let it down.
Room was fine but the batthroom and facilites average. Shower and boiling water from all tapes dangerous and the lavatory was uncomfortable

We did not have breakfast at the hotel. The reception staff were great, especially the gentleman who worked on the 4th and 5th Sept. All the other staff were also very helpful and polite.
There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Da das Zimmer direkt an einer Hauptverkehrsader lag konnte man die Fenster nicht öffnen. Gleichzeitig gab die Klimaanlage unangenehme Geräusche von sich.
They have excellent staff on the reception desk. Very capable at resolving and queries or misunderstandings. Sam and Faye were particularly hospitable.

We received a lovely welcome. Staff to hand if needed and no issues when asking for extra tea and milk.The hotel is lovely and comfortable and feels homely at the same time with beautiful gardens. Would definitely stay again

The room was lovely, we had the signature suite, we stayed in the junior suite last year and both were great.
To be honest the food was poor especially when it’s hyped up so much, the quality, standard and general flavours were very much below other hotels in York.

A bit far away from city centre but we appreciate that cannot be helped. In addition, we saw questionable reactions to our late night drink orders - there was confusion about who should take and process them.

Lovely room, well decorated and felt luxurious. Bed was really comfy and we really enjoyed our stay. Staff were really helpful whenever we needed anything, good location and has parking!
Some parts of the room looked a little tired/hadn’t been cleaned as well as you would expect for the price of the hotel. Dead bugs in the roll up blind, marks behind the bathroom door and some scuffs/damage to furniture. Have pay £20 for the night to park which is high considering the price you’re already paying for a room
