Due to the style of the building, there are narrow and steep stairs leading to the rooms, which may not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
Small dogs can be accommodated in some rooms, for a surcharge. Please contact the property for further information and availability.
A deposit may be required at the property.
Good location
Dirty, very tired room, hot water didn’t work, several plugs didn’t work
Beautiful and historic building, very central.
The bed wasn't very comfortable. The breakfast came without toast, I have never had to ask for toast before, and there were no pots of jam on the table. So disappointing and too basic considering the cost of our stay.
The location was central and easy access to everywhere
The window in our room had a broken section in it and was taped up with clear cello tape which wasn’t very attractive and there was a hole in the floor under the carpet that we kept stepping in and stained carpet, there was a lot of dust on the arm of bedside lamp. When we went for breakfast the first day we had bacon sandwiches which we found dry, the second day we went for breakfast we ordered eggs Benedict one eggs well done and one runny and the well done egg was runny and the runny egg was uncooked was a white jelly, the front of house young man was very apologetic and he asked if we wanted it redone we said no as we was put off so ordered toast instead and we got warm bread so left and had to have breakfast elsewhere also we were served our tea in chipped and stained teapot and we were sat near the kitchen which the kickboard and window was dirty, as being a head chef myself this is what l noticed and it’s not a case of just being picky.
Breakfast was poor not enough choice and restaurant was dirty
Cleanliness, breakfast either cereal or cooked no offer of fruit and had to ask for toast.
Location was great with old world charm. Good breakfast.
Posizione ottima ai piedi dell'abbazia e non lontana dalla fermata dei bus, inoltre, relativamente tranquilla la sera. Camera con bagno enorme dotato sia di doccia sia di vasca. Ottima la colazione
Fantastic breakfast
Room was tired and dirty bed was uncomfortable walking into the actual room was unsafe as there was no easy access as it was an attic room paint was peeling off the walls due to damp very noisy
Nothing
Location, quirky.
Few electric sockets in room.
Excellent location, great breakfast, friendly staff, nice room. Stayed for the second time and would go back for a third.
The seagulls are noisy but that isn’t the hotel’s fault or anything they can ‘fix’. Part of the experience, I suppose!
It’s quirky style
Only the stairs as I’m 61
Room was as lovely as ever. I love this hotel. Always stay here when I visit Whitby.
5 mornings I asked for toast with my breakfast, order was taken and got my toast once. Also the eggs Benedict was on what looked like sourdough bread rather than the English muffin it's been on in previous years. Seems to have gone down hill from my previous stays which is a shame as everything else was lovely.
Location
Little bit dated
The location was perfect
Hotel was quirky
I appreciate the hotel is very old, which i loved but it definitely needs a lick of paint it is very tired looking.
The mugs in our room were dirty and stained absolutely no excuse for that and the toilet seat was yellow looking, it certainly put me off.
