Very central, walking distance from ferry terminal, own car park if needed, comfortable single room. Restaurant with castle view across harbour, perfect for plentiful breakfast, lunch or dinner (especially on Sunday when most places are closed). A bar is available if you want an evening dram.
Big step to get out bath/shower with no grab rail to avoid slipping. No lift for luggage to rooms although staff willing to help if required.
Noise of heater no shampoo in dispenser...ridiculos prices .
Boatyard restaurant is very good, Room price does not include breakfast - and it is a high priced room

We enjoyed our stay in the Royal Hotel. The hotel is in a very convenient location for walking into Stornoway. Our room was very small, but it had everything we needed, including tea and coffee. We had a lovely view of the harbor and Lews Castle across the bay. We did not hear much traffic noise from our upper room. The staff was great. Everyone was friendly and helpful, from the receptionists to the servers in the two restaurants. The breakfasts and dinners were very good.
This was not a problem for us, but you might want to know that the hotel has no elevator. Other than this and the small size of our bedroom, we were very happy with our stay here.
Lovely hotel with an excellent restaurant. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Large room with a nice view. Comfortable bed.
It was a bit overpriced, especially when they charged us £60 extra for two dogs for two nights without even providing a water bowl!

Scored a room over the kitchen with associated smells and late-night noise. Outlook of kitchen vents and car park was poor.
