The hotel was excellent but feel there's not enough for toddlers to do the smaller pool was still very deep
We had a wonderful stay overall and the location is fantastic. The hotel itself is beautiful, with clean, spacious rooms that were serviced every day. It is also just a short walk from Dubrovnik Old Town, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
The staff were always friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, and the quality of the food was generally very good.
There were, however, a few areas that fell below the standard we expected from a hotel of this quality. Several of the communal toilets had broken doors or were out of order, and the showers by the pool and sports area were poorly maintained, with empty shampoo and body wash dispensers. On two occasions, meals served in the lobby restaurant arrived cold. Around the pool, there also didn’t seem to be enough staff available, which meant it was often difficult to get drinks without waiting.
Despite these issues, we had a lovely holiday and enjoyed our stay. With a little more attention to maintenance and service in some areas, this hotel could easily match the high standards suggested by its beautiful setting and facilities.
When you walk in the hotel feels 5 star and luxury but it’s not long before you realise at best it’s probably a 3 star. No shampoo or conditioner in public showers to wash before you go home. Public toilets had very few with locks. Cold food from main restaurant twice and staff get very defensive when you complain. Food is very expensive for what you get. Good service and good in the Greek restaurant but at the end of your meal staff practically force you to write a review about them there and then giving you their name and QR code. We had issues with a refund and the financials so check your bill fully before paying. Even though surname was correct on everything it was incorrect on check in and throughout our stay despite being told several times the correct name. Whilst I realise Croatia is very laid back and slow we found staff inattentive and we often had to go looking for them to order drinks and food. We had a good holiday but these things did have a negative impact on us as they kept building up.
Overall very good, clean room and friendly staff. Food and drink in hotel expensive so bars and restaurants under utilised which takes away from the atmosphere. Lowering prices would help drive up trade. I agree with previous comments re non hotel guests in pool area and music. Those using the facilities were dealt with but it’s not ideal. Sunbed reserving needs to be addressed, after mid morning it was a lottery as to whether you’d get one. Some were left for hours not being used. It’s not fair on other paying guests. 20 minute walk into the old town and a stunning location.
Friendly staff and lovely views. Comfortable bed and great balcony.
Tired room off an institutional corridor that smelled of damp. An aircon unit leaked every day of our stay. Bathroom fixtures need to be upgraded.
Generally good quality food but limited choice at dinner in the main restaurant. Food and drinks expensive, which probably explains why the restaurants seem underused.
Pool deck is very cramped. Dreadful, intrusive music after 1pm most days.
On our first day, two members of staff had an aggressive row in the pool bar, in full sight/hearing of guests. Both appeared to be supervisors. Totally unacceptable behaviour.
Better hotels are available for the price.
Pool area was great , breakfast great buffet . Rooms quite spacious with magic views
Drinks were expensive
Loved our stay at the Rixos. First time in Croatia and we were bowled over by how friendly the staff were (but always professional). We had a fabulous sea view room with a large balcony. Large comfy bed. Over bath shower (which might not suit some people). Beautiful outside area with pool and steps for swimming in the sea. Plus, an indoor pool (inside the gym). The whole complex was spotless. Location was very close to Dubrovnik old town. It is supposed to be walkable but we got a taxi due to the heat.
We ate a couple of times in the lobby bar which overlooks the coast.
We would stay again if we return to Dubrovnik.
This hotel is exactly how the pictures represent it. We have stayed at other Rixos hotels in other parts of the world, with a Rixos hotel you know you are getting a luxury stay for a reasonable price.
Pros
Room views are spectacular
Food was amazing
20 minute walk into the old town
Staff were very knowledgeable, honest and friendly
Hotel room was very clean, room could do with some upgrades
Hotel is massive, so many places to walk and relax
Gym wasn't too busy in the mornings
Hotel guests from different parts of the world enjoying the hotel
Cons
In Croatia hotels can't make the 'beach area' private to hotel guests only. Therefore, anyone can access the pool area, sunbed area and sea entrance. We didn't notice it the first few times we used the pool, sea entrance and sunbeds. However, when big groups of people not from the hotel are there, it becomes very noisy, cluttered and chaotic. Some of the hotel staff made extra efforts to move non-hotel guests on from the sunbeds and seating areas if they were not buying drinks or food. We saw some non-hotel guests leaving large amounts of rubbish around the sunbed area, they were brining in their own beer in cans and food. I would say this is the only con to this hotel. All the hotels we have ever stayed at have private 'beach areas' for only hotel guests. I think by allowing large groups of youths into the 'beach area' is bringing down the quality of this hotel. We were told the people using the area were 'locals' by many staff but they are not locals. We heard different languages and accents and mainly age groups of 18-25. There is a youth hostel not to far from the hotel where I think many of them are coming from. We saw non hotel guests using the facilities inside the hotel and also using the lifts by sharing with hotel guests to gain access inside the hotel.
Rixos Premium Dubrovnik is a wonderful hotel in an incredible location. The breakfast was delicious, the sea views were stunning and the facilities were excellent. However, the spa deserves special recognition. It’s a peaceful sanctuary where you can completely switch off from the outside world. The staff are exceptionally professional, friendly and attentive. Their hospitality is something we will remember for a long time.
Great Service, Shiva makes the best Omelettes!!!
Size of room and comfy bed
Very quick to take plates away but constantly had to ask for tea and coffee at breakfast. The dining tables needed a good wash.
Great beach front 5 star hotel. Wonderful food and super attentive staff especially Ravi in the restaurant. Ravi is a real credit to the hotel. He went above and beyond all expectations. Highly recommended hotel within walking distance of the old town.
We really enjoyed our stay at Rixos. The room was spacious, our balcony was amazing and the view was incredible! The staff were so friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend!
Dinner prices are high and we did not eat dinner at the hotel’s restaurants.
Bar staff at the pool were unpleasant they forgot our order and then told us that we would need to order at the bar. The young girls next us didn’t have the same problem.
Liked breakfast,
The hike from Old Town is brutal
