Important information:

Please note that the Old Town is a pedestrianized area. Guests can drive to the hotel for unloading luggage. Access is only possible via Bergstraße. The reception provides reduced tickets for the Linzergasse public parking garage (at Glockengasse 4a).

Arrival and departure is possible from Monday to Saturday from 06:00 to 11:00. From 11:00 onwards and on Sundays and public holidays guests require a code which is available upon request via the telephone. Guests can call Altstadt Hotel Stadtkrug free of charge from the bollard by the property.

When traveling with pets, please note that an extra charge of 10 per pet, per night applies.
A deposit may be required at the property.

Comfortable stay in a beautifully updated historic building in a very convenient part of town/
Pros:

The location of this hotel was fabulous - I would never stay in the Altstadt on the other side of the river having stayed on this side of the river. There were so many great, well priced restaurants close by, a supermarket, ice cream shops and shoe shops. Also within a 5 minute walk were the bus to the Untersbergbahn and Hellbrunn Palace, the bus to the train station, Mozart's Wohnhaus and the Mirabell Gardens, and maybe an 8 minute walk to a very good laundromat. Breakfast was also fabulous, including freshly cooked eggs to order.

Cons:

By accident we chose a room without air conditioning - air conditioning would have been better :)

Pros:

Hotel in posizione molto comoda al centro. Camera pulita.

Cons:

Non lo valuterei un 4 stelle. La camera è veramente bruttina.
La reception non è aperta 24 ore come ci si aspetterebbe da un hotel di questa categoria.
Il giorno che siamo arrivati c'era un ragazzo che non ha saputo nemmeno indicarci l'ufficio turistico in centro storico.
Il garage non è comodo.
La colazione è limitata, soprattutto se mangi salato.
Essenzialmente l'unica cosa che stai pagando è la vicinanza a piedi al centro storico

Pros:

Sehr freundliches Personal und Frühstück hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Lage war perfekt.

Cons:

Mein Zimmer war direkt neben dem Aufzug. Ich habe es immer gehört, wenn jemand mit dem Aufzug gefahren ist. Leider gab es nur ein Rührei.

Go for historical character and great location if OK with anonymous service
Pros:

Location and character of hotel was great. Bedroom quiet and comfortable despite bar and restaurant beneath. Breakfast adequate but only cooked was eggs. Staff contact minimal.

Cons:

Breakfast lacked variety and staff could have been more welcoming.

Charmantes Salzburg
Pros:

Zentrale Lage.

Cons:

Eher dunkles Zimmer Durchlüftung schwierig aufgrund eines Fensters direkt zu einer gegenüberliegenden Wand. Möbel, Decken und Wände in die Jahre gekommen, im Zimmer teilweise provovisorisch ausgebesster.

Lovely stay.
Pros:

Awesome location and easy walk to all shopping, sites of interest and great restaurants. Quiet location and friendly staff. They even presented us with their homemade sausages at departure. Breakfast was the classic with a few added treats. Overall a comfortable stay in a beautiful City!

Pros:

Staff are very friendly and accommodating, the location is very good for accessing landmarks, the facilities did not miss out on any of my preferences.

I’d say there was nothing in particular I didn’t like, except the following:
2. The AC was working perfectly until it turned off on its own in the middle of the night, and I had to go and turn it back on. This happened on both nights I stayed there. Perhaps there was a setting I didn’t pay attention to. I’d recommend whoever wants AC to actually ask the reception on how it works to avoid this.
3. All of a sudden in the bathroom an AC unit (perhaps from another room) was starting to operate and there was a cold air blowing down from the edges of the ceiling. I don’t know what that was about.
I didn’t inquire about any of the above with the staff, as neither bothered me much.
1. I named this number 1, because this was the only disappointing issue. The breakfast was very limited and very basic. Although the host was very accommodating and friendly.
