Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to formally complain about our recent stay at the Royal Cambridge Hotel and to request a full refund due to the unacceptable condition of our room and the poor level of service we received.

From the moment we arrived, our experience was disappointing. Before we could even check in, we had to search the hotel to find a member of staff to assist us. After spending time travelling around London, this was not the welcome we expected.

When we entered our room, it appeared that it had not been properly cleaned at all. It felt as though only the bed had been changed, with no attention given to the overall cleanliness of the room.

Behind the door, we found a broken glass straw. This posed a serious safety risk and could easily have caused an injury if either my partner or I had stepped on it. I have attached a photograph as evidence.

The shower was absolutely filthy and looked as though it had not been cleaned for a considerable amount of time. I have attached photographs showing its condition.

In addition, there was makeup and fake tan on one of the pillowcases. We attempted to contact reception several times to request a replacement, but no one answered the phone. As a result, we had to remove the pillowcase and sleep without one.

The towels provided in the room also smelt strongly of cigarette smoke, as though someone had been smoking while handling or folding them. This was completely unacceptable and further reinforced our concerns about the hotel’s hygiene standards.

Throughout our stay, our attempts to contact reception went unanswered, leaving us with no way to resolve these issues while we were at the hotel.

Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience. The poor standards of cleanliness, the lack of customer service, the potential safety hazard we encountered, and the condition of the room fell well below what any paying guest should reasonably expect. We could not wait to leave the hotel.

The location was great and the room was clean.

Cons:

Although the room was clean, the binding on the shower glass was worn and didnt look great. Also the cold tap didn't dispense cold water, it was very warm.
