No air conditioning. I did try and resolve the issue with the property. They told me it was nothing to do with them as the booking was with booking.com
The trip was for business, so it was too late to cancel the accommodation and move elsewhere, but that’s what needed to happen.

A Real Find!
Pros:

Easy parking, attractive reception area, bar, terraces, great staff - particularly Callum at the bar! Spacious bedroom with comfortable bed. Perfect location for visiting Cheltenham / Gloucester (bus stops right outside). Excellent food on offer in restaurant, bar and breakfast room. Will definitely return.

Cons:

Nothing we didn't like.

5 Star Prices in a 2 Star Hotel
Pros:

The staff were amazing.

Cons:

The Staff were amazing, however the rooms are run down (although they are undertaking a refurb), broken plugs, damaged bath and sink (although somewhat repaired), mould on the roof and no Aircon. Also the restaurant/drinks prices are crazy. £8 for a pint and too expensive for food in the restaurant, way too expensive.

This booking formed part of one continuous three-night stay from 10–13 July 2026. We had two rooms for the first two nights and then shared one room for the final night.

The hotel was far below the standard expected. There was no functioning air conditioning during extremely hot weather, and the fans provided were inadequate. Both rooms had refrigerators that were warm and not working properly, and one was leaking water. My friend also had no hot water in her shower.

The rooms were shabby and poorly maintained, with damaged and marked walls, peeling finishes, water damage, redundant holes and fittings, and an unfinished appearance in parts of the bathroom.

We paid approximately £105 per room per night, and the standard of the accommodation and facilities was extremely poor for the price.

I submitted a detailed complaint with extensive photographic evidence, but the hotel rejected it and refused any compensation or meaningful resolution.

Pros:

The beds were comfortable. The hotel is close to the M5 motorway which was really useful for what we were doing that weekend.

Cons:

The hotel is undergoing some renovations. As a result there was no air conditioning in the rooms despite being advertised. I had to go to reception to ask for a TV remote as there wasn't one in the room and then couldn't get a signal so had to return to reception to report this too. Turns out a cable was missing so can only assume that the previous occupants must have swiped the remote and the cable (why do this? spite?). In fairness the chap on reception was really helpful and sorted our issues out fairly quickly, and perchance I also discovered a fan in the cupboard which helped with the heat. I'm sure once the renovations are completed the hotel will be better although I expect the reasonably price we got was because of the ongoing work.
