Really good! A shame the owner was rude to his staff (the male owner to be clear, the femal was really nice)
Pros:

Local to a few lovely towns and friendly service

Cons:

Clearly under renovation but that only impacted hallway areas. The owners also clearly gave the bar staff a hard time while they themselves watched the racing - the bar staff were LOVELY so we didn’t like seeing that

Overnight stopover

Come back when it is fit for occupation
Pros:

Location was good for where we hade to be. The staff were friendly with one notable exception (a rude barman).

Cons:

The hotel is still being renovated and the smell of paint is very strong (they could have mitigated this by shutting some fire doors to the areas being worked on but hadn't. Whilst the room had been recently decorated, so had the carpet which was dirty, No aircon and I do not believe they will put in the aircon they talk about now they have decorated. The shower was very weak. The barman was just rude, "We don't serve bitter, that's a northern thing", so when I said okay I may as well have the wine my wife was drinking, I got "You tell me when I have put the wine back in the fridge?"! We raced back after a night out to find the bar had shut early. We asked to be located on an upper floor but the stairwell by the nearby lift was closed for painting so the fire exits were well beyond acceptable distance and the sensor on the landing was masked off for painting.

Pros:

Rooms were huge and breakfast was amazing. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Cons:

The hotel was being redecorated some some places were "in progress" but that is clearly a temporary thing and likely won't affect subsequent visitors.

Pros:

It had all the facilities I needed and was easy to park. The restaurant was nice and check in /out was very straight forward.

Cons:

The pillow was too large and the room decor was very tired but there was a note stating that it was under renovation.

Fantastic food for dinner and breakfast plus all staff were lovely, clearly proud of their refurnished hotel.

Cons:

The exterior needs updating now to match the high standard of the interior. I loved the new decor

A really enjoyable few days away in a lovely hotel with pleasant attentive staff & good facilities.
Pros:

Hotel was easy to find, plenty of parking. Staff all very polite & helpful at all times. Room was clean & comfortable. Food in restaurant was lovely with prompt service.

nice hotel and good for the price
Pros:

it claims to have been renovated but not much evidence from when we had stayed 14 months ago. the A/C wasnt working and the room had evidence of wear and tear and needs addressing . the lobby and restaurant have undergone a decoration and looked good though . the bed mattress is very comfortable but the room is a bit shabby . the price is ok and I hope they dont up the charges once its been decorated

Second visit this year
Pros:

This hotel is well positioned for us as it is only a short ride to the homes of both our children.
Parking is plentiful.
The staff are great on front of house and in the resteraunt it was nice to be remembered by our waiter.
The rooms whilst are a little shabby they are clean.
Price is on a par with other budget hotels but this is the most convenient for us.
Having a lift and not too many stairs are good for me as I have RA and limited movement.
The food in the resteraunt is of a good standard and although not extensive everything we have eaten has been very tasty.

Cons:

This is the second stay this year and we have not seen much improvement in the accommodation.
But I realise it must take time to do everything that needs doing whilst still trading.
The aircon has been out of order for over 3 months.
The hot water control in the room in our room was nonexistent and we would not think it can just be a problem in the rooms we have stayed in.

Pros:

Free parking and water in the room.

Cons:

Paid for a king sized bed, it was two single beds put together and the middle part was extremely uncomfortable. Not a good night sleep.
