Spacious bedroom and bathroom, lots of dining and bar space, good outdoor space
Receptionist unhelpful, food got returned as it was so poor, WiFi did not work despite asking them to check it, paintwork peeling, musty smell, very tired looking
I knew the hotel was in need of modernisation and the owning company in administration so in that sense it met my expectations. Food - breakfast and evening meal were pretty good - the bedroom very tired.
Still a bit expensive given the somewhat tired condition of the room / beds etc
Room was very dated but clean. Breakfast was really good & great location
Decor in the room was in need of repair & upgrade
Breakfast was okay. The location was good as well. Plenty of parking spaces.
Lifts were out of order. The hotel is massively rundown. Tatty paintwork, mouldy bathroom. I think everyone was doing their best but the place needs refurbishing.
Traditional, old English hotel with a long hiatory and very clean with friendly staff. We returned due to the experience of our first visit earlier this year.
We like the room sizes and views of the estuary, the lovely grounds and spacious restaurant/bar area.
There is nothing we dislike about the property.
We couldn’t have the suite we wanted due to a maintenance issue and the one we got instead had wasps nests so we couldn’t open the windows. This wasn’t ideal as it was very warm, but it was quickly rectified by moving us to a different suite and we had a very comfortable stay.
Location, facilities and the woodwalk
Lift was not working. Pub food was bad. Breakfast was good.

Grand hotel hotel staff was friendly and breakfast was delicious
Room was A little bit tired lifts not working
The position and the public areas were delightfully furnished in a traditional manner
Our room was spacious with comfortable bed and well furnished but the window was in a very poor condition; rotting wood and cracked glass.
Bathroom spacious but cold tap on the bath didn't work and bath surround needed replacing.
We booked 3 rooms and spent a lot, The location was great and the views from 2 were fantastic.
The hotel is very run down, mold everywhere and it doesn't look like it's not had any money spent on it for 20 years at least, doors are falling off, corridors are cracked and plaster falling off daily with the carpets stained everywhere, the breakfast is terrible and poorly ran, it has the potential to be a great hotel if it had investment put into it. It's a shame to keep letting such a nice building in a great location jut rot away whilst taking people's hard earned money.
Location
It was very tired
The view was lovely
Breakfast was cold (meant to be hot) and not appealing and evening meal was a bland carvery.
Decor was Very very dated, peeling wall paper and in need a an overhaul
