location
a bit dated
The old style building.
The early senior menu was good and suited our needs.
Requested a ground floor room and this was honoured. Well done Cumbria Grand Hotel.
A walking shower would have been better than having a bath with our shower. Couldn’t use either due to mobility problems.
Free wifi
view of the room
Lovely old building with fantastic sea views
Breakfast fell below expectations. Only full fat yogurt available on the day. The sausage was very cheap poor quality and the black pudding wasn't properly cooked. The rooms are very tired and need bringing into the 21st century
The bar staff in the evening were very pleasant! The entertainment was also enjoyable
Room below average- ground floor room no 38. The blinds in the bathroom would not close properly which was unacceptable being on the ground floor with people passing whilst trying to take a shower and use the toilet. Not what I would expect @£157.50 for one night! Also the fact that Breakfast was no longer included at this price I felt was extortionate
It's situation, too far from any amenities
Disappointed to be so near the sea but there wasn't a view
The accommodation was tired looking
The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The weather was really warm, and she arranged for a fan to be brought to our room. She also swapped our top floor room for a ground floor room, as my partner doesn't like heights.
The room was very plain, with a miniature TV. The bed was not comfortable at all.
The restaurant promised a 3-course meal for £26.00 per person, which sounded reasonable.
However, the food was below par. The starters were strange, to say the least. The main course was kind of like a carvery and the food had been kept under the heat lights for way too long. All the food was dry and tasteless.
gardens and general bar areas
nothing to dislike
Lovely building, communal areas good.
The bedroom! Very poor decorative order (tatty), dirty, very small room, shower was unusable as so small and nowhere to put soap etc - if you dropped anything you would not be able to pick it up! Beds were on wheels so moved during the night and lost all of the pillows. Windows were level with carpark and no blinds or net curtains on them so had to keep curtains shut to avoid people walking by looking straight in.
Beautiful location, amazing views outside our window. Would have been nice to have some history of the old hotel. Definitely stay again.
Unclean room cobwebs everywhere empty bottles on wardrobe water stains on walls. Generally unclean
Breakfast was ok
It is our favourite place to visit for a short break
More outside seating needed
