I've stayed here loads of times now while working in the area & will continue to return, providing the price doesn't increase too much.
Its a nice interesting building, pleasant village location, and there is a great local pub 2 mins walk away.
Nicely furnished rooms, comfy beds, friendly staff, ample parking.
I've really liked all the rooms I've stayed in previously but this time I wasn't so impressed with the basement room, it was ok for 2 nights, bed was fine, it was abit gloomy with just a small window, the shower screen was abit dodgy on its rails and pretty grubby down the side of the shower which hasn't been cleaned for a long time.... tho its does look a tricky place to clean.
I think this particular room should come at a reduced rate.
It won't put me off staying in the future tho but I will request not to have the basement room
The property was lovely and decorated nicely
Reception staff, restaurant, grubby bedroom, broken fixtures etc
Breakfast was good and bar service and choice excellent
Needed a fan in the bedroom .... toooo hot
Staff were good, room was large enough, bed ok.
Cups in bedroom needed cleaning, kettle was broken, (but still worked), toilet was too close to toilet roll holder, (had to sit at an angle!)
Breakfast was well presented but basic.
Leuk soort familie hotel. Sfeervol.
Niets
Pleasantly decorated. Contemporary and a little quirky. Clean bathroom and bedroom. Walk in shower.
Electronic key door entry.
Window blind to bedroom was jammed. The wind down mechanism came off when I tried to close it at night time. I reported it to the main desk. As it was late, 10pm, there was no maintenance available. I had to hang a throw over the window to block out the summer daylight early in the morning.
The external light switch to the bathroom was broken and missing its button.
Lighting in the room was quite dark, especially over the main desk and tea/coffee TV area. Only 2 tea bags were left to use. There was no water bottle as was advertised. I asked for extra tea bags, milk and water, all of which was then provided.
The restaurant does not open on Thursday, and Friday morning was only buffet breakfast. Three cereals, (cornflakes, coco pops and rice crispies) some cheese and ham slices, a bowl of fruit and bread for toast. Tea was pre-made in a thermos flask dispenser! A pot of tea would have been better.
For £161 for one night, I expected much better...
Breakfast was poor / no hot available - dirty milk jug / fruit long past its sell by date
the overall standard of cleanliness was un acceptable
It was close to Duxford airfields
No cooked breakfast in morning.
The location was lovely and the terrace and garden were beautiful. Staff were friendly but inexperienced.
The interior was quite fun
I was in a loft room and it was far too hot to sleep in. It had been a heat wave and the temperatures were far higher than expected for the end of May but I don’t think the loft rooms are suitable for any warm weather. There were fans but the window could only open a few inches so it was impossible to get enough air through in the night to begin to cool it down. For some reason none of the windows in the top floor corridor were open (and had clearly not been opened for sometime as they were covered in cobwebs) and so the whole top floor was like an oven.
The grounds are beautiful
We had no hot water while we were and it didn’t get resolved we were in a stable room net curtains should be at the window as had to have the blind down for privacy and it made it very dark in the room
Beautiful hotel, lovely and clean, cool decor. Staff were actually really lovely, they were the best thing about the venue.
Our room opened straight onto the outside teepee. There was no aircon. There was no bedroom door meaning all the teepee lights shined through the door(the staff turned some off at request). Plug socket with plug in and on, under my pillow.
Breakfast was crap- not what it says on the menu. Only continental during the week. I feel saying it was continental was a push.
