Medplaya Hotel Flamingo Oasis

Just don’t go to this hotel especially if you do not have children. The dining room is just like a cattle market kids running up and down babies screaming the food is average but in their favour plenty of choice and the staff are all pleasant. The swimming pool area almost impossible to get a sun bed again children all over the place and the British are getting like the Germans towels at the ready as soon as they can. Large all inclusive hotel quantity rather than quality. Thank goodness we were only stopping for 2 nights and we had a car

This hotel is lovely. So big and clean. No war around the pool for sunbeds. Loads of sunbeds. The food was lovely. Loads of choice. The pool bar was also lovely with food from 12.30 midday till 6pm. The bar staff were very friendly except 1 at pool bar. The rooms were huge. 2 sinks in bathroom. Balcony was huge. Sun all day at pool. Entertainment at night was great. And Entertainment all day for kids.

Venue and clean

Location: Relatively isolated, but there is a nice beach nearby. A tourist train also runs from just outside the hotel.

Atmosphere: Entertainment during the day was enjoyable. However, the pool is designated as a smoke-free zone, which was not respected. We regularly had people smoking next to our children despite reporting it multiple times. Unfortunately, staff did not take action on our complaints. Our child has asthma, so this was particularly difficult, and we often had to move areas. The pool area was extremely messy in the afternoons, a lot of empty plastic glasses / rubbish left lying around.

Rooms: Basic, but clean and refreshed daily.

Value: Good.

Food: A good variety of food was available.

Sun beds: Inadequate numbers under parasols to cater for the number of holidaymakers.

Advice: Be cautious about leaving children unattended in the play area. In the evenings, we attended the kids’ disco and our children played in the nearby playground. We always stayed close and kept a close eye on them. On two occasions, we observed an older child attempting to lead our child away from the playground. We also witnessed an incident where a child appeared to encourage another young boy toward the football area, saying they were going to “beat him up,” followed by physical aggression. We reported both incidents, but no visible action was taken, and supervision in the area was not increased. Unfortunately, these incidents negatively affected the end of our stay.

Returned for the 2nd time, unsure we will return for a 3rd.

Beautiful hotel, fabulous staff, (miserable cleaners) but the hotel is fabulous. We came 2 years ago and returned with our new baby as we knew what we were getting!
My little one has celiac disease and we found things for her to eat quite easily, restaurant staff were very helpful when I explained her allergies and would direct you what was safe and if we wanted anything cooked fresh!
Food was amazing for an AI, try that beef! 😋
Great location, far enough away from the noise but close enough for a 10 min walk to the beach and lots of restraints and shops on your way! Tropical bar opposite is a MUST! The best family bar in Benidorm!

The thing that made me do a 4* instead of a 5. Is the sunbed situation. 2 years ago you could just go put your towel down whenever you wake up, go for breakfast and come back!
Now you are queing at 8am to be able to get sunbeds (doors open around 830am) not enough umbrellas for the amount of kids at the hotel (ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THEY ARE NOW DRILLED TO THE FLOOR!??)
I am up early as I have a 7 month old (she’s up at 630am) so I thought I’d go sit by the pool trying not to disturb my husband and other child.. (wasn’t aware of the queing rule) sat my self down got all the sunbeds sorted (toys, pram, towels, bag, changing bag etc) and was told (very abruptly) to move and go Queue.

Everything else in the hotel is brilliant, we really do love it and Benidorm. However the whole sunbed situation has let it down.

Booked the Flamingo Oasis after reading the great reviews, sadly we were disappointed.
The room was a great size and cleaned daily by the hardworking staff, but every day when we returned to the room there was the smell of drains.
The food for a 4* was diabolical, bizarre dishes with no explanation as to what they were - ‘chicken mole’ being one. Desserts regularly ran out and it was some time before the empty dishes were replaced. Very bizarre combinations of things eg.Turkey roll & hash browns.
The glasses in the dining room were often dirty, I regularly picked up glasses and found lipstick marks on them.
They seem to need more staff in the dining room as quite often we would go in to find tables strewn with dirty plates and glasses - not knocking the staff at all, they tried their best.
We didn’t eat from the pool bar as the food was pre-cooked and kept warm, I don’t fancy eating burgers and hotdogs that have been kept warm!
The rubbish around the pool was shocking, I felt awful for the poor staff who had to go around clearing up every night because people were too lazy to put their rubbish in the bins! It was ridiculous.
The entertainment we found ok, they tried their best and all the kids seemed to love the mini disco. The act ‘backstage’ was great.
Overall we wouldn’t return, the hotel isn’t 4* by any stretch of the imagination, the staff do a great job, but it makes me realise why Brits get such a bad name abroad.
