Ho soggiornato in questa struttura per una sola notte e purtroppo l'esperienza è stata deludente sotto diversi aspetti.

La camera si è presentata piuttosto datata e poco curata, con dettagli che trasmettevano una sensazione generale di scarsa manutenzione; persino il materasso risultava parzialmente a vista.

Un altro aspetto poco apprezzato è stato l'orario della colazione, disponibile solo fino alle 9:30. Considerando che si tratta di una località di mare, ritengo sia un orario piuttosto limitante. Inoltre, questa informazione non ci è stata comunicata al momento del check-in, effettuato peraltro intorno a mezzanotte. Di conseguenza, la mattina successiva non siamo riusciti nemmeno a usufruire della colazione.

L'episodio più spiacevole è però avvenuto al check-out, quando ci è stato richiesto il pagamento di un supplemento per una "tessera club". Avevo prenotato e pagato anticipatamente tramite Booking e sul portale non vi era alcuna indicazione chiara circa l'obbligatorietà di tale costo. Al contrario, la tessera sembrava configurata come un eventuale servizio aggiuntivo. Mi è stato riferito che si trattava di un errore della piattaforma, ma ritengo che eventuali problemi di comunicazione tra struttura e portale non debbano ricadere sul cliente.

Trovo inoltre discutibile il concetto stesso di dover pagare un supplemento per usufruire della piscina di un hotel, servizio che normalmente viene considerato parte integrante dell'offerta della struttura.

Alla fine il supplemento non mi è stato addebitato, anche perché avevo effettuato il check-in a tarda notte e il check-out alle 10 del mattino, senza avere materialmente il tempo di utilizzare alcuno dei servizi inclusi nella tessera. Resta però una forte amarezza per la scarsa trasparenza e per una gestione che non ho trovato orientata al cliente.

Attention arnaque : l'hotel vous fait payer des frais cachés obligatoires qui sont dissimulés dans la section "Informations importantes" (10€ / personne / jour), c'est interdit par les lois européennes mais Booking laisse faire.
Cerise sur le gateau : ces frais obligatoires vous donnent soit disant accès à des équipements qui ne vous sont mêmes pas présentés lors de votre arrivée, autrement dit on vous cache vos droits et on vous fait quand même payer pour. Honteux.

A large hotel with fab views and great pool
Pros:

I booked directly with the hotel and received a favorable room rate. We travelled by train and took a taxi from the station. The hotel is in a very elevated position above the bay. The bay is beautiful but we were pretty much stranded without transport.

The following day we walked downhill to Maratea along the road but discovered the walking trail to Christ the Redeemer statue for our return, uphill walk, so we took that until we were close to the hotel. It was a much nicer walk. In total, including a short walk around the town, we walked 9km.

I had booked a suite. It was large and pretty basic but this is reflected in the price. If the suite had been more fancy, the price would have been more fancy. The terrace was equally huge with beautiful views of the bay. The suite was impeccably clean and kept so by the loveliest of chamber maids.

We happened to be staying when there was a company convention in situ. There were 300 company guests and then my husband and me. It was hilarious. We are not Italian but watched on with interest. Not being Italian and not being part of the company convention, we were pretty easy to spot. Despite, or perhaps because of the convention, we felt that we were known by the staff and were treated very well as they clearly recognised that we were somewhat outnumbered. (150:1)

The food was fine and the dining staff very pleasant.

The swimming pool was a real treat. Hats are compulsory.

Beatrice at reception was particularly pleasant and helpful while the manager was approachable, professional, helpful and also quite witty!

So why not 5*? I'm not sure. There were small things that simply didn't suit us. E.g. a drinks machine at breakfast which does reduce the personal contact with staff and makes the dining experience feel unnecessarily impersonal.

We will look back on our stay very positively and will laugh at how we ended up in an Italian car-parts company convention for a weekend.
